    Legend! Still helping in 2023! I got as far as getting the damper out but I was worried about trying to take the locking end off. I couldn’t tell if it was threaded or glued!

    I had an issue with my brand new remote lockout not returning. However, sanding that cylinder down isn't the best option (as there's a seal in that location on mine) and actually increasing the spring tension by lifting it up again and rotating it once more made it perfect!

    2021 and this has just fixed the same problem on a set of 2020 Rebas. Thank you!

    I've been looking for this solution for a while, now I just need a new spring

  • @janeblogs324

    My Reba da didn't have a spring, but I modified an old derailleur cage spring and added a remote lockout top cap and its working now. Just had to unwind the spring 45° and file the lower tang round instead of square

    I had a problem with this kind of damper too. Thanks for manual!

    Slerrbattori...hopefully a usefull link for you..the problem with my forks is that the remote lockout would not release the forks did lockout but did not release...it is also normal to have a small amount of movement in the forks when locked out..if there is not enough oil in the damper the lockout will not function properly...not sure if your forks have a floodgate valve as mine do to alter the blow off pressure when locked out.

    Hi ! Marvelous video ! I've just bought a second hand bike for my daughter, The reba-race-fork ( 2008 ) was blocked, I dis-mouted everything to find out what was wrong, " mecanism was stuck / blocked full of old grease ' the baike had not oved since 10 years ... ( all ths bike, 12 years old, looks brand new ) So I serviced everything ( nearly ), then when putting all back together, after puting oil in the chamber of this damper on your video, I pump it pulling up/down the bottom thin axis end : " HO NO ! " : the poplock cap breathes, Some air, and event better : oil comes out, when I hold the fork upside down, ! little problem ... Then the question became : " how am I gonna disassembly this mess, remove that cap from the rest a the long red main body plastic thing, to change the joins or whatever , and miracle ! your video exist !! I was wondering : when done, the spring and all the mecanism will jump at my face, how will I put all back together again ... should I remove first the bottom end ? unclipind the plastic old that plate you must align on the to marks on your video ... ? / All answers are in your video , other very important info : The screwing of the top end is reversed ! important scoop / well ! thank you so much, I had been browsing the net for an hour and was desperating to fing the informations, and suddenly your video appears on youtube ! all I need ! Thank you so much ! ( Philippe , a french father )

      Thats fantastic,thanks Philip I'm glad it helped you,the reason why I made the video is because I could not find any information and spent hours online trying to find it...so to help others I made the video.

    Thank you, very useful info! Im wondering when you reassemble, how much oil must there be inside the fork? I know there are rockshox own charts to tell how much for which fork - but for the lockout system to work mechanically, how much is enough? There must be a bit air also in the fork tube to allow the oil movement right? I have a new recon gold rl and it wont lock even if I have check the damper.

    Cheers for the video - by releasing the pressure using the tension screw on the underside is there anything else I need to do prior to removing the damper?

  • @kingfishers79
    @kingfishers79  7 років тому +1

    I would probably remove the damper from the upper leg drain then refill with fresh oil...and see if it works... if it works upon refill then stops working disassemble again and check oil level if the level is low the oil will have drained into the lower leg and a service would be needed.

      my forks were rockshox reba RL 2008 poploc/remote lockout....rockshox use many differerent dampers for differerent forks and yours may not be remote lockout so there is no need for the spring! i have posted a link to your service guide below

    Always amazes me how someone can be "smart", yet record a video in vertical mode.
    I guess it's a _shpeshial_ kind of smart ;)
    Nice vid nonetheless. But most people will watch this on a pc or tv. Film accordingly :)
    Plus it would make it easier for you to record instead of constantly having to try and figure out where to move the item so that it is still in frame. Basic logic if you ask me, but yeah. You do you. Just a friendly tip ;)

    • @kingfishers79
      @kingfishers79  2 роки тому

      Pmsl well out of thousands of views your the only one who's had an issue ...enough said....if you don't like it go watch someone else's 🙃

      @crispy-k 2 роки тому +1

      @@kingfishers79 I had to google "pmsl", well. Your comment clearly tells me that you didn't read my comment at all. I said it was a nice video. I'm going to be able to fix my friends fork now thanks to you :) As i stated at the end of my comment "Just a friendly tip".
      I can see and understand what is going on in your video because i understand a lot of things about bikes, but it would still be nicer for the viewer, and easier for you, to record the video in "horizontal mode". Wouldn't you agree?
      I'm just stating the obvious, no hard feels, and reallyyyyy no need to be so defensive. Especially since there was no attack from my side. If you took the first part of my comment as an offense, well sorry about that, was just a joking way to say what it. I gave a like and even a sub because it was still a good video, like i said in my first comment and in this one. If you're really like this towards people that enjoy your content, then you get a dislike, i unsubscribe and make sure that everyone i come across will do the same. Maybe you're just having a bad day... But as i said, i don't even think you read all of my original comment. No, hard, feels. :)
      Just trying to help, how can i be seen as the bad guy here? It's not a complaint, just a friendly tip like i stated.
