OK to be fair, as a gay man, I've thought about winning the lottery and paying a reactor off to watch the movies I choose. I'm sure Billy wouldn't object 🤣
"It's not my job to make you feel like a man." is such a great line. Know your worth and find yourself someone who knows their worth too, because ain't nobody got time for fragile egos.
Too bad he didn't respond with "And it's not my job either to make you feel desired", for Mary Sue women who still need their fragile vanity pampered can be most insuferable. That door swings both ways...
@@nandini8814 Oh no? Then what does she care if he's getting his needs met by another woman (he's not embarrassing her in public with the affair)? Because if she "ain't looking for it", then it's funny she feels so bad about him doing it.
@@el_killorcure your logic is literally making me lose braincells smh. Fyi, there are things like trust and loyalty in a relationship or did you not know that? She loved him, and he broke her trust in him by cheating, making her feel bad for all the things she sacrifices for him.
Now let's not blame the girl for getting cheated on. he didn't do it out of wanting her attention. She hides what she buys for herself just to protect his ego. Which is not her job.
@@el_killorcure Sorry but I think that's kind of a messed up way to view a relationship... You don't think he should make her feel loved? Sure it's not his JOB, but at least I think he should care about how she feels. Plus it was never about her vanity in this movie, it was about his inferiority complex and her diminishing herself for him and then breaking that cycle.
@@daniella_otsuki If it's messed up, isn't she algo guilty of it? She opened the "it's not my job" door. Not sure how she diminished herself besides hiding her jewelry, it's not like she stepped down from her Microsoft board gig to work the kitchen and the toilets at home. Yeah he's got a chip on her shoulders but she's also clearly insuferable by being so effortestly fabulous and King Midas wealthy just because (even Jeff Bezos would feel uncomfortable)
@@el_killorcure That literally is his job he's her husband 💀 what are you on. That's like me saying "it's not a babysitters job to make sure your kids don't die while your gone"
*cringey* Story time 😬 Whenever this movie came out.. I just got broken up with after a 6 year relationship. Devastated. Decided to go to the movies by myself for the first time. Everything was good until the wedding scene. My ex and I talked about how “Can’t help falling in love” would be our wedding song. So when that song came on, I started sobbing like crazy. I could tell the woman next to me was low key worried and scared by this… so if you’re the random stranger who sat next to a girl who just busted out sobbing during the movie and happens to be watching and reading this, I’m so sorry 😅😅😭😭
My ex’s parents didn’t like me at all. I came from a pretty poor family and the first official Christmas we spent together I was so surprised his step mom got me shoes I said “you didn’t have to get me anything.” Apparently his step mom took that like I was being ungrateful. She literally never let me live it down. They also accused me of trying to bring their son down because he didn’t want to go to college and told him to do what he feels like is best. Meanwhile I was working a full time job AND going to college. I’m honestly glad I never have to be looked down by him or his family ever again.
I absolutely fell in love with Astrid in this movie. In the beginning one might think she might not be the nicest just due to her Bing that rich etc but she ends up being literally on of the best characters in the movie. I love her friendship with Rachel Also the entire movie is just so pretty, the clothes, the setting just everything
Omg i love both of you sooooo much!!! This makes me happy that y’all cool with each other. Both you guys make life sooo much better with your humor keep doing your guys thang.❤️❤️❤️
The thing you have to understand about the mahjong game at the end- it's a call back to the poker game at the beginning of the movie. Rachel had the winning hand- the piece she's holding onto and thinking over, that's the piece she needs to win. She's won. But she sets it down, giving the mother the piece she needs to win instead. When she reveals her pieces at the end, she shows the mother what she's done, reinforcing her point. Rachel could have won the game, both the Mahjong game and the fight over Nick. But she deliberately forfeits in both situations, choosing Nick's happiness and long term well-being over her own short term happiness, and that's what earns the mother's respect.
Apparently there was no budget left for good jewelry. You talked about how Astrid's choice of earrings were ugly but the mother's ring the film makers originally purchased looked so cheap that Michelle Yeoh (playing the mother) decided to use the emerald ring from her own private collection instead. And we're grateful since that ring is such a linchpin of the plot.
The Mahjong scene at the end is my favorite part of the whole movie! Rachel (aka Jelica) had already won but made it her point to tell her mom she loved her son so much she was willing to let him go to keep him from hating his family and then BAM, revealed her winning hand. I love this movie so much! Singapore is definitely on my travel bucket list now. #bingers you definitely have to watch/react to the movie 21. Feel like you’d really like it! It’s about counting cards in Vegas. Laurence Fishburne is in it!
She didn't win; she gave up the piece that would have clutched her the win to Eleanor, directly symbolizing that she could have accepted Nick's proposal but she didn't because she couldn't cause a rift in his family for him like that. Eleanor won the game of Mahjong because of Rachel, and she gets to keep Nick in her life because of Rachel.
@@xoblythe ahhh. I can’t believe I’ve misinterpreted the scene this whole time! Well halfway misinterpreted it… thanks for the info! I need to rewatch it again now 😅😅 still my fav scene in the film through. 🤓
@@eddieduarte90 I also thought she had won the first few times! A friend pointed it out to me which just made me appreciate the scene even more; I think what separates this movie from other romance movies/romcoms is how clever the symbolism and staging is throughout the movie to elevate the storytelling in the script. Definitely one of my faves for sure ❤︎
My exes mum used to keep track of everything I did. She would “educate” me on how to take care of her 30 year old son and ask me questions like “are you sure you can take care of him and stay with him through his flaws?” 😳 I felt like nothing I ever did was good enough and my every move was watched so if my ex and I ever had a spat or were having trouble with something, she would always butt into the conversation and put the blame on me 🤦🏻♀️ don’t even get me started on her opinion of kids and marriage! Edit: Astrid’s husband cheated because of his own insecurities
Wait (book reader), I thought he pretended to cheat just to see what her reaction was. But everything about his character is related to his insecurities.
@@ashleydowney1222 i read as he got this person to go along with it and set it up like an affair while it wasn’t. It was weird. Guess I need to reread those parts again. But mu real question to anyone who read the series, why are they still together in book 2?
Astrid is my favorite character in the movie if only for flexing on her cheating husband with her fourteen apartment buildings! The Young family is so savage! Plus, she’s played by Gemma Chan, who I adore! This movie is so great and I can’t wait for them to finally do the sequel. Also, you gotta try dumplings, my guy. I’m a picky eater, but they are bomb!
Have you read the books? I honestly likes Astrid more in the movie in the book. In the book Astrid's husband cheated to see if she would notice. The text that Astrid sees in the book is something else. I was wondering if the movie was going to leave the text how it was in the book. Glad that they changed it. If they have made the movie like how the book was. It would have been rated R.
@23:33 "Auspicious" IS an english word, lol; it means favourable/prosperous or successful. In traditional Chinese culture, they tend to choose an "auspicious" day to wed, because it brings good luck to the couple.
This movie surprised me as I'm not a fan of romantic comedies - but I loved this, a couple of moments even got me in the feels. Plus Michelle Yeoh (the mother) is an absolute goddess.
apparently the actress that plays London in Suite Life of Zack and Cody wanted to audition for this movie but they wouldn’t let her bc she “wasn’t asian enough”, but this movie is soooo beautiful and just a great movie
I was dating a guy and the first time that I walked into his parents home, I saw a confederate flag....I live in the south, and I am biracial. I was scared, tbh. They immediately gave me dirty looks and pretended to be nice. He lived with his parents (no shame in that), so I had to pass them to go hang out with him. It was very uncomfortable. My last straw was when his mom kicked me out of the house for no good reason. #blacklivesmatter
Y’all, I literally saw this movie 4 times in theaters when it came out. That’s how much I loved it (still do lol). And every time I went to go see it, the theater gasped when Nick proposed to Rachel with his mothers emerald ring. I was living vicariously through all the wealth this movie. I WISH I had this type of money lol. Fun Fact: The scene where Rachel’s mom pulled up to comfort her in her time of need, I cried. It caught me off guard and got to me, especially since I’m a mama’s girl. I’m so glad you reacted to this movie, Billy! I was born January 12, 1995 and I’m definitely a picky eater lol. And Billy that was Aquafina lol. Her character and her entire family were hilarious! And the songs are Material Girl (200 Du) by Sally Yeh and Can’t Help Falling in Love by Kina Grannis. #Bingers Date Night, Rush Hour Trilogy, Bride Wars, Couples Retreat, Grease 1 & 2, Mamma Mia 1 & 2, Aladdin (Live Action), Letters To Juliet
I am mama's girl. Kinda had to be with only having one parent. I grew up middle class. Although now I don't make a lot of money. I would be happy making 20K a year. But I make about a third of that a year. And I have learned to deal with it.
My boyfriend's mother hate me, she said it was cause I was shy until she realised it was anxiety and not shyness and had to say the truth The truth? She's "not transphobic" but refuses to call me a man until I get a dick. So I had to make clear that unless she wanted to pay for it she'd have to grow up and respect his kid's lover cause he's already not found of her as it is
For people who were saying “material gworl” and that the movie came out before it during the part where she was dressing up for the wedding, Billy was right it is Material Girl but not the recent one that’s been trending but the original Material Girl by Madonna.
Billie I can’t recommend dumplings enough, all dumplings are delicious and filling. There are so many different types of dumplings too from all over. Steamed BBQ pork buns, soup dumplings (literally have soup INSIDE that is amazing) and pork and veggie dumplings are the 3 best in my option
I knew you would get to this eventually . Loved this movie watched it a few times . Hopefully you will find it hilarious. Looking forward to your commentary as always 💕
I was with a guy for years his family was nice to me his mom told him she liked me but didn't want any mixed grand babies. We were together for almost 6yrs. I'm black and Mexican
My ex-wives parents hated my guts. My ex is transgender, and I was aware of this. She had begun transitioning before I ever met her. But her parents believed it was my "fault" that she was who she was. I never cared about that, I loved her for who she was. One particular day her mother came to our room to speak with us. She kept calling my ex "he" and by her birth name. So I continued to correct her. I would immediately say "she", "her", "her name is Faye". and so on. Her Mother became so upset by it she left. A few moments later her Father came storming up, hollering and cussing. Saying I had disrespected his wife in his home. I told him his wife shouldn't have disrespected mine in front of me. She went into the hall with her father and I heard arguing. I stepped outside to see him attempt to push her down a flight of stairs. I'm pretty sure I saw red when I throat slammed him into the wall. I told him if he ever came near her aggressively again I'd end his life. And I meant it. And her parents hated me for the rest of our relationship.
My mom don't call me a billionaire even though I have repeatedly told I identified as such. Even though I don't have a billion dollar, it hurts when you are not considered and treated as such😢
The books are so great as well, Kitty in particular is so much more and amazing. And Astrid. And the grandma's backstory in WWII. Honestly anyone that liked the movie, give the books a read!
I read these books on my honeymoon in Hawaii. My husband is half Chinese and speaks fluent Mandarin so I was always running the phrases and translations by him. The story really falls off by the third book so I hope the movie sequels improve it!
Doesn’t Rachel have a PhD? Because she teaches at a university right? So she’s not exactly, you know, poor…. Depending on what her professor rank is unless she is contract faculty which would vary Ps I’m aware in the context of Nicks family she makes significantly less
That's the point though, she's still a middle class person. Professors usually aren't struggling financially, but they definitely are not rich. In the context of owning 200 million dollars worth of property and having multiple generations of "crazy rich" people in your family, it's not just "significantly less." She IS poor.
@@mariposahierra08 yes I know. I’m doing my PhD and know the projected rates. I’m just saying she’d make the mid to high 6 figures. And it’s she’s part of any major research institutions there’s room for major growth financially
Dumplings are the best! but they vary WILDLY from culture to culture. My grandma's Caribbean (Dominca) dumplings are basically just dough rolled and boiled. My best friends' chinese dumplings will have pork or veggies on the inside, and those can be fried or boiled. you could do a whole video on international dumplings! also, great reaction video! I see that it takes a certain amount of dollar signs for you to remember someone's name lmao
This movie is so good! I love seeing POCs in amazing starring roles and not as stereotypes. I’ve been watching your videos for a couple of days during my lunch break and I’ve been cracking up! 🤣 You have a new subscriber in me! 👌🏾

Speaking of parents who don't like you 😂 My very first boyfriend broke up with me via text when i was 18, then about a week later his dad sent me a looong email- like several paragraphs long- about all the things that were wrong with me, with my relationship with his son & why his son needed a more submissive feminine woman etc etc. A real twist of the knife haha it was a tough read!
That's horrific. I'm really sorry that happened because I know that was probably super painful, but honestly I'm glad you're out of that situation. It is most likely 1000x better for your well-being this way, seems to me like you dodged a bullet.
@@leannajohnson4494 thanks so much- it was over 15 years ago now & I'm now happily married to a much nicer guy with a much nicer family haha so it's now more of a funny cringy anecdote, but damn did it hurt back then haha
Shoot. I was married to someone who’s moms side was Mormon and they hated me cause I’m catholic. I took over as mother to their grandson because his mom took off. Every time they had those missionaries over they’d make jokes and hurtful comments about people who are catholic. Then say oh sorry forgot you were catholic. Like bitch I’m a catholic and I’m a ordained minister. I moved out and his mom kept his son away from me and didn’t let me say goodbye. No respect given in 7 years.
I was dating this girl for YEARS. And I was always cool with her parents, until her mom became really religious out of nowhere. She literally refused to talk to and was always taking shit when I wasn’t around. At first I just dealt with it, but over time it just became too much. We were already long distance and now we were kinda having to sneak around to talk because of her hella homophobic mom. We ending up breakup after I found out her mom said some beyond outlandish shit about me and my girlfriend at the time said nothing. Honestly the worst shit I’ve ever been though. If their parents don’t like you just leave, especially if your partner doesn’t have your back.
Watching this just reminds of how excited the Jane Austen fan community was when they announced Henry Golding was going to be in the new Persuasion. Then how disappointed when we found out he was going to be Mr. Elliot not Captain Wentworth🙄
I had a boyfriend when I was in my freshman year of college. He was a total mama’s boy (nothing wrong with that) and I knew that impressing his mom was a must. The first time I met his mom, she was nice to me until my boyfriend went to the bathroom. Then she turned to me and said “I know you’re after him for his money. “ [he was an engineering student - freshman, mind you.] I didn’t say anything, so then she said “Your degree is just a MRS degree anyway.” She then went on to be fake nice again when my boyfriend came back; I never told him what his mom had said. I now teach kindergarten and am happily married, but let me tell you that experience showed me the importance of getting along with your in-laws!
Oh, is that what Dasani is, a water bottle brand? I didn’t get it because we don’t have that brand where I am. I kept thinking “Who is Dasani and why is he confusing her with Awkwafina?” 😂
My exes mom absolutely detested me. Everything I did was never right. She even allowed her son to cheat on me and several other girls because she deemed nine of us good enough for her son. Even though her son was in and out of jail and couldn't hold down a job.... I was the one that was inferior to them.
I was in a relationship where I wasn’t allowed to tell his parents that my last name was LOPEZ and had to tell them I just really liked the the sun. Once they found out my full name it was all down hill from there.
Dios mío. That sucks I’m so sorry. I’m mixed. Mum is Colombiana and dad is English. His family didn’t like that my parents were together. They never said it outright but they were VERY passive aggressive (and I think some of them said other things but my parents never go into details). Sigh, we love racism.
I'd immediately kind of dislike someone that hugged me the first time they ever met me. I don't hug even the people I'm incredibly close to very often, there's no way I'd want to hug someone I just met
@@Monie71793 A lot of people (including myself) aren't big fans of physical contact. So if someone hugs me when they first meet me and I barely know them and am not already really close to them, I'll hug back to be polite and not make things awkward, but it will make me kind of uncomfortable
Billy's reaction at 24:23 had me laughing. Here in the states, when someone dislikes you, it's often displayed with passive aggression. It's not like that everywhere, so when blunt honesty happens, it can come off so rude but so ganster lol
I dated a guy in college and went home with him for a weekend. His mom and aunt only called me “that girl”. Including to my face. That relationship didn’t last long. But he was a wonderful boyfriend. It just wouldn’t work.
Not sure if you didn't comment on it or if you didn't know/understand the game, but the Mahjong game at the end between Rachel (you called her Jalissa) and Nick's mum represents what Rachel was saying to her: "It was because of me." The mum won the game, and Rachel literally gave her the winning tile, making herself lose in the process because the tile she gave her was also what she needed to win. Additionally, in the game, Rachel "double" won because she drew the tile herself for the win rather than taking someone else's thrown tile. When you play for money, whoever "feeds" you (throws the tile you use to win) pays you double, but if you draw the winning tile yourself, everyone else pays you double.
Unfortunately, my parents are the crazy in-laws. They don’t like my husband, but they’ve never told us why out loud. My parents are manipulative & controlling & my husband wasn’t going to bend to their will so they chalked it up as disrespect.
I would like to clear something up. I am from Singapore, I have lived here all my life. The “rich” lifestyle portrayed in the movie, and making it seem that that’s how all people in Singapore are, it is not accurate. I can very much vouch that over here, we look and live like regular people and not so lavishly like in the movie 😂🤡🙃
I literally just watched this movie because my HBO Max is about to expire. Love the all Asian cast but I was a bit underwhelmed by the plot, kind of a “been there, done that” rom-com. Love the Mahjong scene though!
The first time I met my bf's mom, he walked me into the house and she was standing in the kitchen making food. He introduced me, I said "Hi," she just glared at me up and down, and then started yelling at him in albanian. Me, Jewish American, not speaking a lick of albanian, just stood there smiling awkwardly praying to go home ASAP🤣 Been with him for 4 years now and she STILL starts fights w him over dating me... Apparently she doesn't like me because I'm not Albanian, but she also doesn't even like her daughter-in-law who IS Albanian (cause she's not the "right type" of Albanian--whatever tf that means).. Idk, it's a dumb reason to disapprove of your child's partner in my opinion. If it's not something a person can change, then why take issue w it? Worry about if the person is good for your child instead of worrying about nationality, race, religion, etc, etc, etc; all that shit is meaningless in the long-run.
I 100% had a situation where the parents hated me (more just the mum but the sisters loved me). They were very strict Catholics. She would bust into a room and point at Jesus on the wall (he was on every wall of every room). Caught us one time and screamed at me because her son was going to hell because of me 🤣 she was also a teacher, the one everyone HATED 💀
I fell in love with this movie so much. I watched it on a plane and balled my eyes out. I used the movie version of Can't Help Falling In Love for my own wedding when I walked up the aisle.
Idk if they will make the second or third books into movies. But one of the stroylines in the second book is Rachel finding out the abusive man wasn’t her real father and her real father is Even richer than the Young’s.
I've been to Singapore and it's an absolutely beautiful country! Long ass flight from LA to get there (18 hours!) but it was absolutely worth it. The view of the helix bridge and the Marina Bay Sands at night was amazing.
Omg Billy...did you say "she looked her dead in her scapula?" Her shoulder blade?? 😂😂 I was dying at that comment hahaha. Also yes, I did play Rollercoaster Tycoon too and I loved it. I use to make rollercoasters with never ending drops that would go as far as the earth's core haha. I also dangled a couple of ungrateful guests over the water...ah, fun times :)
The most disrespectful part of this commentary is Billy having his guns out during the ad read 😂😂😂 #Bingers Underworld, Blade, Monster High, A Werewolf Boy
That hotel at the end with the pool is the Marina Bay Sands Hotel, in Singapore, very posh, the pool is on the roof which is shaped like a boat sitting on top of three towers of rooms and restaurants and shops etc… it has fireworks and a stunning view of Singapore.
My first boyfriend's mom was weird. We come from different racial backgrounds (I am black, and he is Hispanic. I didn't have money and a stable relationship with my older sister back at home in December when I was going through a rough spot(lost my job and my older sister made me feel like her home wasn't okay to stay(FYI i got bullied by my sister's boyfriend and her for not having the same beliefs as them) I went over for that month being our first Christmas together in the same house I wanted to do everything that month. It was also my birthday on the 31st. He spent a lot of his money on me because he wanted to make sure I was okay and well fed and taken care of. She did things for me and showered me with gifts. She even called me beautiful but then started saying things to her son that "Your girlfriend would like this because she is black" or "I knew she would like this because she is black". She even went as far to tell me that stop using her son's money even tho he wanted to spend money on me, She told me to stop relying on my parents even tho I haven't lived or asked them for money in about 4 years. She told her son never let me get a hold of his money safe because she thought I would steal it. But I broke it off with him because he never really defended me and understood that she was really hurting me and I couldn't ignore it like he could (Btw this is kinda recent, it's been a year since then}
Sweetie, this is a sad story. As a Hispanic mother, if my son was happy and you guys were treating each other right. I'd love you like my own daughter. I dont understand mothers sometimes.
I dated this one guy and his mother didn't like me because I was overweight even though her big headed son had been chunkier than I was before he lost the weight and he lost it to try to impress me even though I never made any indication that that's what I wanted. Yeah she sucked.
I went on like three dates with this dude, his family immigrated from the Phillipines and his grandparents spoke almost no English. For our third date we were hanging out watching movies at his place when his mom walks in, looks me up and down and then looks at him wkth the "her? Seriously?" Expression, rolls her eyes and leaces the room. I went home soon after. He texted me that night saying he didn't think it could work and I said I knew it wouldn't work if that's how his mom is treating me now.
I am in a relationship for over 11 years now, when we got engaged his mom said to him " I thought you said you'll do it later"... I haven't seen his dad in over 5 years, since he said some not so nice stuff about me. His mom is nice now, she just thought we were too fast with the engagement ( we were together for 3 years then) and that time she just went through a divorce..
A story on how my ex bf parents didn't like me - tbh it was mostly his mom but when I first met her she presented herself a a Christian woman, no swearing, etc. Little did I know this woman was such a manipulator and only cared about outward appearances vs actually being a good person. She texted me drunk once saying I didn't love her son because I wouldn't pick him up from the house because they got into a fight. In that immediate second I called her and I respectfully told her it's none of her business and she was acting childish. Like don't play with me lady. I don't think I've ever hated someone so much as her. On top of that she would push her insecurities onto my ex... like no ma'am, keep that to yourself.
I’d love to see you watch Stardust, Billy 🙏🏼 It’s a fantasy adventure movie and it’s one of my all time favorite movies and it’s based on a book by Neil Gaiman #Bingers
Oh yeah, my ex boyfriend's parents did NOT like me at all. I'm 4'11'', average looking, and came from an average family. His parents were pretty rich, and the first time I met them, his mom asked my ex in front of my face, "Hey you remember Mr. so and so? We saw his daughters a while ago at a dinner party, and oh my gosh, they are SO BEAUTIFUL, SO SLENDER, SO GRACEFUL, and they are currently attending an Ivy League school." I just sat there like 😐. Can't believe I stayed in that relationship for four years. So glad I'm free now.

Yes, first class international can be that nice. When I was 16, my mom took me to London and we were upgraded to first class. They gave us warm peanuts, warm towels for our hands. Very delicious meals and I was able to recline my seat all the way back. It’s the only time I’ve ever flown first class. It was one of my coolest experiences and I thought it was awesome but I could lay fully down on an airplane. I will say though that it wasn’t as private as depicted in the movie, but the fly also was a super long, so I can’t speak for other airplanes.
I loved Billy's commentary on this movie but I wish he paid a little more attention to the dialogue. For example when akwafina's character started the "bak bak bitch" monologue its hilarious! I personally don't like awkwafina but I have to admit she was hilarious in this movie
I’m a picky eater too :/ -presentation -smell and -texture 😭 my throat “closes up” if I don’t like the texture I only eat “safe” foods - ie kid-like meals
My boyfriend and I have been together for nearly 20 years and his mother has never liked me. She isn’t outright hostile all the time, but since she’s older and lives with us the general dislike can chafe a lot. One time, she legit forgot my name and this was after being with her son for over a decade.
my boyfriend's mom started a fb fight with me so I confronted her ass while i was staying with her and him. POLITELY, was just like if you need to talk to me about something please come to me instead of putting it on FB, she went off. i went off. she ran at me. i shoved her out of my face. she played victim and called the cops on me and me and my bf left to stay in a motel then she PAID for a plane ticket just for me to leave the state lol. I'm still with my bf and still despise her
I love this movie! I worked at a movie theater when it came out. I got to see it free as an employee. So I ended up seeing it six times in theaters. And I am not a picky eater.
Haha my dad was a doorman for a NYC residential building where a lot of Hollywood stars young and old lived. Good tips, lots of connections, and lots of drama goes down lol. My dad has stories for decades. 🤣🤣🤣
The song that sounded like Material Girl from Madonna is actually 200 Du by Sally Yeh. The person singing at the wedding is Kina Grannis, she has some videos on UA-cam. The filming for this movie happened all throughout Malaysia and Singapore. The rooftop ending scene was at the Marina Bay Sands towers in Singapore!

Now let's not blame the girl for getting cheated on. he didn't do it out of wanting her attention. She hides what she buys for herself just to protect his ego. Which is not her job.

I forgive you!! 🤗💜

Girl that was you? 😂
I love her friendship with Rachel
Also the entire movie is just so pretty, the clothes, the setting just everything
Nick said she had the biggest heart of all his cousins. 🥰
I laughed so hard and so loud when he called Akwafina ' 'Desani' that I startled myself. I did not expect that but it was fantastic. Lmao

It caught me off guard, and then I was disappointed in myself because this is exactly what I've come to expect from Billy 🤣
My soul levitated out my body when he said that!

Loved your reaction to this to ❤💋
The thing you have to understand about the mahjong game at the end- it's a call back to the poker game at the beginning of the movie.
“No one loves free stuff more than rich people. No, I love free stuff and I am very poor”. I felt that deep in my soul. My also very poor soul
Idk if it’s simply just edited out, but I don’t think he even got the reference that the ring Nick proposes with is his mom’s. Nice trivia tho!
It’s so crazy that Rachel looks so young here but she played a full on mama of three in Fresh Off the Boat.
yeah thats where i recognized her from! beautiful woman
Singapore is on my travel bucket list, too! All because of this movie lol.
@eddieduarte90
I got that she let Eleanor win but didn’t understand Mahjong. Great explainer

@@gabrielleduplessis7388 It's true. He cheated in the book to see how Astrid would respond.

Plus Michelle Yeoh (the mother) is an absolute goddess.
apparently the actress that plays London in Suite Life of Zack and Cody wanted to audition for this movie but they wouldn’t let her bc she “wasn’t asian enough”, but this movie is soooo beautiful and just a great movie
i mean she would have been great tho.. so their lost
How is she not Asian enough? She would be like Rachel, yes? With the whole diaspora thing?

That’s soo messed up tbh and ironic
I was dating a guy and the first time that I walked into his parents home, I saw a confederate flag....I live in the south, and I am biracial. I was scared, tbh. They immediately gave me dirty looks and pretended to be nice. He lived with his parents (no shame in that), so I had to pass them to go hang out with him. It was very uncomfortable. My last straw was when his mom kicked me out of the house for no good reason. #blacklivesmatter

Y’all, I literally saw this movie 4 times in theaters when it came out. That’s how much I loved it (still do lol).

Depending on what her professor rank is unless she is contract faculty which would vary

That's the point though, she's still a middle class person. Professors usually aren't struggling financially, but they definitely are not rich. She literally refused to talk to and was always taking shit when I wasn’t around. At first I just dealt with it, but over time it just became too much. We were already long distance and now we were kinda having to sneak around to talk because of her hella homophobic mom. I had a boyfriend when I was in my freshman year of college. He was a total mama’s boy (nothing wrong with that) and I knew that impressing his mom was a must.

I would like to clear something up. I am from Singapore, I have lived here all my life. The “rich” lifestyle portrayed in the movie, and making it seem that that’s how all people in Singapore are, it is not accurate. The first time I met my bf's mom, he walked me into the house and she was standing in the kitchen making food. He introduced me, I said "Hi," she just glared at me up and down, and then started yelling at him in albanian.

I completely endorse this
Top movies of all time for me
honestly surprised i saw you reacted/watched this lmaoo, but nah fr this movie was pretty nice i love the production of this movie
makes me want to be a crazy rich asian
Billy calling Awkwafina Dasani took me OUT 😂😂😂😂
Oh yeah, my ex boyfriend's parents did NOT like me at all.
Am I the only one seeing that those auntys and the mom look like the grandma and auntys in Disneys TURNING RED?🙈😅
I’m a woman who dates other women and my first girlfriend had two moms and they disapproved of her dating another woman. They were extremely homophobic.
wha- how- that is the dumbest thing ive ever heard... some gay ppl need to get their heads out of their asses cause WHAT lmaooo im so sorry, thats awful omg
Wait what? Would it be wrong of me to ask for some explanation? Cause this doesn’t make sense to me.
@@LM-xw1hf Trust me I know it doesn’t make any sense. I don’t really have an explanation. They just had a lot of internalized homophobia I guess.
@@jadaking5457 Well I’m sorry you are dealing with that. If it’s any consolation I think you’re pretty cool and hope that you and your partner or future partner have a wonderful life together.
@@LM-xw1hf It’s okay! And thank you!
"Did you grow up with parents who were obsessed with shaping their childrens life?"
Haha. Well... This is awkward.
Billy calling that woman Dasani is Everything!!! I cracked up 🤣😂🤣.
Shout out to the Al Gore Rhythm 👍 (😆)
I’m a picky eater too :/
-presentation
-smell
and
-texture 😭 my throat “closes up” if I don’t like the texture
I only eat “safe” foods - ie kid-like meals
My boyfriend and I have been together for nearly 20 years and his mother has never liked me. She isn’t outright hostile all the time, but since she’s older and lives with us the general dislike can chafe a lot. One time, she legit forgot my name and this was after being with her son for over a decade.
This and My Big, Fat, Greek Wedding are probably the only 2 RomComs that I really enjoy.
my boyfriend's mom started a fb fight with me so I confronted her ass while i was staying with her and him.
I really love this movie that wedding scene brought me to tears. This was the most beautiful wedding I've ever seen in my life.
I know you didnt call awkwafina DASANI 😭😂😭😂 Such a funny commentary to this god tier movie Billy!
Ay Angelina I talked about you in this video 😂
Thanks for watching ❤️
HAHAHA gotchu with the dumplings 🥟 -
Haha my dad was a doorman for a NYC residential building where a lot of Hollywood stars young and old lived. Good tips, lots of connections, and lots of drama goes down lol. My dad has stories for decades. 🤣🤣🤣
Well that is interesting I bet he has stories
The “Sexy Pepso Bismol” HAD ME ROLLING ON THE FLOOR✨👏🏻😂
The song that sounded like Material Girl from Madonna is actually 200 Du by Sally Yeh. The person singing at the wedding is Kina Grannis, she has some videos on UA-cam. The filming for this movie happened all throughout Malaysia and Singapore. The rooftop ending scene was at the Marina Bay Sands towers in Singapore!
