- How to make a mink box for around $2.00. I have a #110 conibear trap wired on here for demo. purposes. I sugest using #120's or bigger for sets out of the water. If you use a #110 you'll catch mink but the coon's will pull out of it. #120's will hold coons.

Its great for mink. I have it a little different. I put my 116 about 6 inches into the box.
Would this mink box trap also work for Squirrel box traps?? Cabled around a tree (hunting WMA and you can't nail into trees)??? Thanks.
I have 3 ponds within an acre in any direction....will this work for mink submerged?

Looks to me like the trap will hit the box when fired....does that affect the catch?
In my experience it helps the trap get a better hold. The trap pushes off the front of the box and grabs the animal further back. If it startles the animal when it goes off and it tries to quickly jerk it head out of the way, the trap jumps back toward it and grabs it. For as cheap as it is to make it. I'd give it a try and see if it works for you, buddy. Thanks for the feed back!
So far.... with the 3 boxes I put out, I caught 4 opossum. lmao. got all 4 of them around the neck and also the chest. Solid catches
Can you use this trap to get rabbits, dont killing them?
The one furthest back, is the less sensitive, the one in the middle, is medium sensitive, and the furthest out, is the most sensitive.

Your design looks great. It won't work in my State due to different regulations, but I like the privacy fence board idea for building weasel boxes.
I am watching your video and making mink boxes, now i have a question, on the conibear trap the latch has 3 notches, what difference is there using either one?

How far away from the box do you mount the coni?
I got mine about a finger width away from the box. So they wont try to squirm in behind the trap, setting it off, not getting caught, and steeling the bait.
Cool. I ended up building my boxes before your response. Mine are about 2 finger widths away. Have yet to catch a mink,but worked great with deep body catches on the 4 opossum. Next season I will put them on a different property and see what happens. Thank you !
