Thanks for your once again level-headed take on these leaks. I don't really have an opinion on the Twin storyline, personally. Will wait to see the actual show before passing judgement. But I agree with your speculation of what happens to the world and specifically Korra. Everyone else seems to be leaping at the opportunity to say how horrible she was (as usual), but what you say in this video just makes a lot more sense. I don't see Bryke wishing to undermine all the good Korra accomplished in her own series, so the idea of the spirits actually living in the havens alongside humanity (and possibly helping them survive this new harsh world?) is fitting and helps to solidify her legacy.

I got the feeling this cataclysm thing is their excuse to not make a cyberpunk/futuristic world, like "yeah, all technology got destroyed, we're going back to the old days", since people didn't like how Korra's era was based on the 1900.

Additional Info: The word Geet (G sound not J) means “Song” in most South Asian languages like Punjabi or Hindi. Source: me. Makes sense in context of Pavi being a musician.
Also “avatar-esqe” probably is spiritual abilities like Pathik’s search ability or as simple as having their own animal guide.

I bet the world was destroyed by spirit vine bombs.
Varrick literally created a weapon of mass destruction, which Kuvira then attempted to use against the world. When Korra saved Kuvira from her giant spirit gun, it exploded, creating a new spirit portal and created a giant spirit vine crater surrounding it.
Decades later, the nations begin an arms race, war breaks out, and hundreds of these bombs are unleashed on the world. They rip hundreds of rifts into the spirit world, covering many parts of the world with vines and turning the atmosphere into an eternal harmonic convergence/ever storm state.

Everything sounds and looks pretty cool to me so far. I've never bought into the Twin Avatar theory since something super crazy would have to happen during gestation or birth for Raava to somehow be in both and then, yeah, like you mentioned, it creates really complicated issues for when the next Avatar is reborn if only one twin dies, etc. Avatar-like powers could really be anything. Spiritbending kind of looks like an Avatar-like power; psychic bloodbending; heck, even lavabending could seem like an Avatar power depending on what era you're in and the information available to you. So perhaps the sister has invented or manifested a new earthbending technique or spirit technique. All that said, audition sides almost never make it into the final product exactly as they are. You want to give the actor some variety in the scenes to show their range, but it's highly unlikely that these exact scenes will be in the final show. I would treat them in the same vein as the unaired pilot.
The unfortunate thing about leaks is the way people overreact, declaring final judgements on a show that they haven't even seen yet. I've seen people saying it's "badly written." You. Have. Not. Seen. It. Yet. You have seen some visuals, some sides, and have had the context/setting described to you by someone who had it described to them by a Paramount employee. We have no concept of how the storytelling will actually be and how they will present everything. With all the leaks put together, we have *maybe* five minutes worth of story, not even close to a full episode let alone series. People need to take a breath.

Why wouldn't the dark avatar reincarnation cycle make sense? Ravva is permanently attached to a human spirit, so she has no choice but to reincarnate with that soul when it naturally comes back. Similarly, Raava assumed he would take thousands of years to come back, but he is connected to a human soul now and would equally have no choice when the soul he is attached to comes back. I assume he wouldn't be at full power. Ravva spent the entirety of Wan's life so weak that she was living in a tea kettle. So it isn't like they have to be powerful at all times.
I think they made terrible decisions with Raava and Vaatu; making one pure evil and the other good was just stupid. It literally goes in the face of what they are designed after. But I really don't see them having something close to a second "Avatar" and not going with the one that already exists. Also, wouldn't it seem strange not to mention Vaatu in this series? I hate what they did to Yin and Yang as much as the next person. But the simple fact is that things after season two of the Legend of Korra, good and bad, were because of Vaatu. He contacted the Red Lotus and convinced Unaloq to free him by opening the spirit portals. Thus, he is the reason why spirits were allowed back into the human world and the only reason airbenders started to reawaken. I agree that both having more bending wouldn't make sense, but neither one has shown multiple bending types yet. This means if one is Vaatu, that one would have spirit energy enhancing them without the usual outlets and thus have "Avatar-like" powers. So, probably seeing spirits and other similar non-elemental abilities.
Also, to be clear, if this is Raava and Vaatu, I don't think they would be able to talk. Raava only ever talked to Korra once, and past that, she never really influenced her host. If they did reveal Vaatu as one of the spirits, I doubt he would talk. It would just be the explanation of why one has avatar powers, and one has "avatar-like" powers.

    • @mister_r447
      @mister_r447 16 днів тому +1

Yeah, i hope Vaatu makes a return and redeems himself, like, maybe since Korra purified him at the end of season 2 he stops being evil, while still being the spirit of Chaos and Darkness?
It would fix the idea that Raava is good and Vaatu is evil. Vaatu was just corrupted.

In a Previous leak it was said that Avatar Generstion was 100 years after the events of Korra and since Korra is set in a more 1920s like world, this would mean 2020s for the next avatar.
My theory is that Korra ends up living over 100 years, by this time republic city and the rest of the world has massively evolved in technology this is when the cataclysm happens and and Older Korra has to stop it. This will be similar to how we got flashbacks to a 40 year old Aang in season 1 of Legend of Korra.

I keep forgetting that the new Avatars are supposed to be nine. That seems a bit young. Aang was 12 and acted like a kid sometimes, but it made sense that he started maturing and taking things seriously at a young age. But nine seems too young for them to stay that age for most of the series. Meelo was 9 in the last season of Korra. There has to be a time skip at some point early on.

Another thought: How difficult is to travel between the seven havens? Maybe there is a portal in each one of them? Maybe the cataclysm Korra had to stop created four new spirit portals around the world. It would make sense.. If one rogue spirit canon had enough energy to tore open new portal, maybe if, let's say, Korra had to stop an impacting asteroid or something like that, it would be enough energy to open multiple portals.. Then havens developed around these portals.. Maybe because people tried to escape the wasteland into the spirit world to seek refuge there. But spirits didn't let them to spread around the spirit world, so the portals are now dangerous to come through and can be used only for quick journeys between the seven havens. .. Lots o possibilities!! My mind is going wild, LOL : ))

    • @SunshineCasy

I'm glad someone else made the connection between the spirit cannon/portals and the cataclysm that ruins everything. I really think this is the result of a war using the spirit weapons that ripped apart the stability between the worlds, and the seven havens are the result of the war.

Just a random thought I had just now: Maybe they being twins makes Raava randomly manifest within one or the other. Never both of them at the same time. It opens some interesting dynamics and story beats.. Like loosing Avatar powers in the middle of the fight as Raava randomly jumps over to the other twin. Maybe the reason the connection is unstable like this is that crazy thing Korra had to do to save the world.. I don't know.. Just thinking the possibilities : )

    • @josephcruz6616

I have another theory. Raava once said if she killed Vaatu or vice-versa that either spirit will grow back within eachother until the next Harmonic Convergence.
During Harmonic Convergence after Korra killed Unalaq and Vaatu, and she fuses back with Raava, it's safe to assume that Korra has both Raava and Vaatu inside of her. Which evidently makes the avatar more powerful than before. After Korra death maybe the avatar spirit was so powerful couldn't choose one person to be the avatar.

I initially had some mixed reactions to the info. But i want to wait to see the context of course.
As for "avatar-like abilities" it makes me think of Yun bending paint or Iroh developing lightning re-direction by watching water benders. That maybe with the white lotus having the twin study other elements she develops earth techniques that mimic them.
One thing i'm confused by is all of this art and info saying the avatars are nine. But a soryboard i saw (where the cat basically sucks on her head/hood lol) she looked significantly older.
So is there a timejump early on or i am just bad at judging ages?

I think she looks very young in the coloured image, storyboards and the animatic.
The animatic where the cat sucks on her head, doesn't give you a great view of her, until right towards the end, but I do think she defintiely comes across young.
Maybe 9 won't be the finalised age, but they seem to be going younger than Aang for sure.

"Avatar-like powers" don't have to be elemental at all: previous lives memories, Aang (and Jinora)-like spirit tracking and projections, ability to change and mold spirit world like Korra did, even just Avatar Spirit technically doesn't have to involve elements -- just stuff like glowing eyes and channeling previous lives bringing out their voice, wisdom and apparitions

Even if they though they knew which one of them is the Avatar, it would make total sense to keep the other one around.. Even just for body-double purpose.. I think the show sounds interesting especially after knowing a lot of the lore for the series. A lot of these plot points have parallels in the books so it feels like the books were priming us for this. I also feel like fans need to relax. Mike and Bryan made it clear in the past they do not like rehashing old stuff. We still have the past lore and the past shows as well as books, comics, and potentially games all taking place with the past with the series staples in place. I think It's cool and exciting to see them experiment and try new things with the world. We also have no idea how it will be written or what the show will actually be like. This could be a fresh start and a chance to take the series in a direction we have never seen before.

Could the sister Nicki be the reincarnation of Yun and still bonded to Father Glowworm somehow? Her bending could be very powerful and varied and she might be able to see her past lives back to Yun which seems like an avatar power. Plus she would also be able to tunnel to the spirit world. • @AirspeedPrime
      @AirspeedPrime  Місяць тому +1

Overall we don't know the full details of exactly how much freedom Mike and Bryan have to do whatever they want with Avatar Studios.
Clearly Paramount really believe in the franchise giving them a full studio to make multiple projects and now stuff like a AAA game is finally happening.
My guess is that part of the deal is probably stuff like "You can make these 6 projects and you can do what ever you want with 3 of them, but 2 of them have to be ATLA/Aang focused and 1 has to be for this demographic"
Because my understanding of Mike and Bryan is that the 2026 Aang movie is probably not their personal pick for the initial go to project, they seem like they always want to do new stuff. So my guess is that they probably realise combined with what Paramount want, that they need to hit those nostaligia points as well as do fully new stuff.
So I think they have a lot of freedom, but it likely isn't complete absolute freedom to just have every project be everything they want. Paramount/Nick definitely have a say, but I think it is a decent bit different to how things were during ATLA and Korra.
In terms of your reference to how Nick treated Korra, that I don't think will happen here, Paramount are all in on Avatar so they are not going to treat their big new franchise that badly.

2.) But CAN Avatar Studios be 100% independent of Paramount so that they have 100% freedom or is that a bad idea?
3.) But why is Avatar Studios NOT allowed to have 100% complete freedom in Paramount? What kind of people and companies are these but Avatar Studios can be 100% reassured that they are with Paramount, right, and no longer with Nickelodeon or please reassure me Airspeedprime that Avatar Studios is finally safe?
4.) Can Avatar Studios be as successful as Marvel Studios?
5.) Does Disney also treat Marvel Studios badly? If so, do you think that at some point in 10 years Paramount will treat Avatar Studios badly like with marvel studios/mcu? And I thought that Nick no longer has ANY say and is no longer there because it comes from Paramount?

Been complaining about the lack of news for ages, that went from 0 to 100 real fast, didn't it.
About the series, I think i can grow warm with Pavi and Geet, i just hope the twin avatar thing (At least not both having Raava) isn't coming to light but i might need to see an episode or two to make up my mind. Pavi looks like she is of Indian decent, an ethnic which we haven't see so far in the world of Avatar and her name also suggests that. India is part of the asian continent and since everything is asia based in Avatar, it wouldn't be too far off to see, although still a bit weird that we have never seen more characters like her? Or maybe we have and i've forgotten i have the memory of a goldfish.
i only see one way how the twin avatar thing would canonically work for me, by having the other girl get the reincarnated Vaatu, this way she would have Avatar like powers but not access to all 4 elements. But otherwise, there is no way Raava can split between two people when she only reincarnates in one human. Unless they write that in, which would be stupid to constantly change how things in that world work. Vaatu is probably not coming back for another 10 000 years so i don't know how that theory would work unless the cataclysmic event that happens near Korra's end causes massive spiritual energy to release and speeds up the process immensely.
The rivalry between the twins reminds me of Legend of Genji where they also had a "fake" Avatar that was announced by the White Lotus while the real Avatar was forgotten and lived in a sandbender slum (Whats up with Earth Kingdom messing this up so much) and i actually like that they went with that idea. The fact that Nikki is powerful makes me think that she actually has Vaatu inside of her and that is why she was falsely announced as the Avatar, maybe there is no way to differentiate between the real and Dark Avatar until someone bends another element or the eyes glow purple. Otherwise, how can someone have "Avatar like powers"?
I don't want to jump to hate before i have even seen one trailer but i am a little bit worried about the age though. It worked with Aang but Pavi and Nikki are three years younger than that. The apocalyptic events might force them to mature faster than normal kids so there's that.

I absolutely love the concept for Pavi so far. The possible script that I read definitely feels very much like Avatar, and I also wanted to always explore wherever in the Avatar world is based on India and where Pathik & Jargala came from. Hating her for her ethnicity, disability or just being a new Avatar is already happening and I hate it so much.
I actually have a theory now that Elora may be visited by Aang in the movie considering the working title was 'Hidden Kingdom'. Could Elora be a semi-secret Earth Kingdom civilization underground? I just came up with this after reading that IRL, Ellora is the name of a sacred carved rock temple complex in India that have been called 'cave-like' although they are open.
Still very, very uncertain on the status of the world. If you're more of an ATLA purist that much change might be alarming, if you're a Korra fan it's sad she didn't have a good legacy after all she went through - I mean she potentially saw more deaths than the entire Hundred Year War if the most extreme scenario is correct. It seems depressing that we may be getting a situation pretty close to what Vaatu wanted to do to the world, save for the seven sanctuaries. I'm also still unsure about using so many ideas from the previous 4 Avatars as well as popular fan concepts. I know I'll probably eventually like anything Avatar but I want to just get it out there. At least we can mentally prepare for a worst-case status of the world before we know more details.

Cities are often driven to grow and tend to make choices only based on their own interests. Now arm those cities with the spirit weapons Varrick invented right as society rapidly grows and changes in the modern era. Whatever Korra did, she needed to do it to prevent humans from completely wiping themselves out.

    @gioss9193 Місяць тому

I don't know how to feel about a couple of things.
First the twins treatment: of course i don't believe in the twin avatar theory cause that's a huge stretch, even if we leave lore and world building behind and talk more pragmatically, we only have two mass media products (comics are not as huge as shiws) they have a lot of time to explore more before relying on such as rule breaking idea.
Leaving that aside, the treatment reserved to the twins sounds a bit like a recycle of Kyoshi-Yun dynamic. I hope they elaborate something different, like the non avatar twin being completely neglected from the beginning, and build up resentment. Or just her feeling so much inferior, and explore their relationship where, maybe, the avatar try to help her building more and more confidence. We never seen a real breaking and serious problem in avatar close blood family.
Secondly, the setting: that's just my personal preference. I really like the idea of a post apoc world, a cyberpunk setting as it was rumored before would have been a too big and too early step in world building.
But personally I prefer nore when post apoc are not toxic and deserted wasteland, but more vivid spaces made of vines and nature taking back human spaces and creating new hybrid structures.
But aside from that, cool concept. and if someone say it's just a re use of Wan era...in that time people where recluded on cities due to prejudice towards spirits, now it's a more concrete issue
My last consideration is that avatar fandom is so baitable. The majority of people, who aren't 100% deeply involved in it, are fully convinced fan theories are canon. Bone Bending, Twin Avatars, Evil Avatar, Missing arm Avatar, previous reincarnation lover looking alike Avatar, switching gender every reincarnation, Genji. I mean, just apply some critical thinking and a little amount of research and you can easily debunk 80% of those.
Oh yes...a good route they can follow to justify the misrecognition of who's the avatar is that the non avatar twin can be a master in all sub bending form. If something like lavabending knowledge went almost forgotten that can easily looks like fire bending, or sand as air.
    Fantastic video man ❤

I believe that Yue is the answer to the Avatar sisters' dynamics.
As a baby, Yue received part of the "soul", "spirit", "aura", "chi field" of the Moon Spirit (Tui) and becomes a "Horcrux". Perhaps Tui had prior knowledge of his death and needed that life ballast?
During this energy exchange, Yue's hair changes color.
Moving on to Pavi and Nikki, it would be possible for Nikki to have been born lifeless and Raava-Pavi transferred part of the "Spirit" which became the Avatar's "Horcrux".
And a possible change would be to have two bendings.
