I feel like the leaf would be useful if you have a covered balcony, conservatory or greenhouse or just an area in your house with house plants inside it. If you can just glance at it and know "oh shit it's too cold/hot" you can know if your plants are gonna die.
This would definitely be helpful in those situations! I've accidentally let my place get way too hot because I wasn't paying attention and my body got gradually used to the heat, my plant got a little wilty because of it!
hey about the leaf thermometer yet again as the back said, this is not supposed to be a body heat measuring devise, but for a room. so it actually is quite helpful. the design is pretty and minimalistic, it does not have any dangerous substances in it as some thermometers do, and it does not need any kind of energy to work as new types of thermometers do. so this is a win-win for a room temperature measuring thermometer! you don't really need the exact numbers unless you have a room full of plants that need special care or something. yes, you can tell if the room is extremely cold or too hot, but if the change is not that noticeable - maybe you got used to the temperature or it's not drastically changed - this is a good way to know that something is wrong :) i myself find it really useful as i get sick easily if the room is too hot/cold/etc. but i rarely realize that the state of the room is the reason why i am feeling ill.
I was thinking the same thing. Or in summer when you come back from the hot outside into the cool inside. Your body's perception of the temperature becomes inaccurate and knowing that your AC is blowing too much cold air can be quite helpful. You can save energy by turning it down, or spare yourself from getting sick in case you are sensitive to this kind of stuff. Also as there are a few leaves in the pack, you can put them in different rooms so that you can see the temperature of each room when you're in it. Since I don't think you need 5 thermometers (you'd probably have like 1 or 2 and you might not necessarily want to walk all the way to the thermometer just to see the small numbers each time you want to know the temperature), but just having a leaf that looks nice and can tell you the approximate temperature from a distance can be quite nice.
That is very true. The house where I live, has very poor ventilation, because the temperature change is gradually, it's hard to tell the difference being unwell or if the ambient temperature is actually on the extreme end and it doesn't help when you're often sick, or you often get hormonal hot flashes.
I love this product. Adore it. I need it. I have a lot of medications and I keep them in my room. Some of them are temperature sensitive. I can take a few degrees but ten degrees? I have to get it all replaced. Seeing a bright yellow leaf where there was supposed to be a green one? That would be a huge indicator for me to fix something immediately. I also live with elderly parents who insist things are "fine". Unless they have a giant indicator in front of them (that leaf might do the trick) then they won't do anything... much to their own detriment.
@@jamie1602 omg the thing about the grandparents hit me deep.. My grandma has alzheimer’s and when we're not around she's constantly feeling sick because her home is a literal greenhouse 🤧
For the elderly, young children, or those with diabetes or who may become confused at night, who may not be able to gauge temps as accurately due to visual impairments etc.... the leaf thermometer is actually a really great idea. I think the inventor may be on to something with that one.
It's thermal paper. Pretty common for fish tanks actually. Those are a touch more precise as they go through a rainbow to show Temperature, but this is definitely a good quick guesstimate
What does being old or being a kid or having diabetes have to do with being able to tell if it's hot or cold? A kid, a old person, and someone with diabetes all knows if it's hot or cold
The leaf thermometer is also great for a variety of other people who have issue with body temperature. I personally have thyroid issues that affect my body's ability to regulate temperature, so I sweat both when it's too cold and too hot, so the leaf thermometer would be a really easy way for me to gauge if I need to add/remove layers of clothing or turn the thermometer up/down. It could also be helpful for people with various ailments, like diabetes, those going through chemo treatments, people going through menopause, etc. as a quick answer to "is it just me or is it hot in here?"
I think the leaf is still useful! It’s not meant to be a body heat measuring tool, it’s for the room, so not quite sure why you brought up that concern.
A thermometer can be any temperature measuring device and I think she’s thinking thermometer is only a medical device? But she also read the description which says clearly what it’s intended for (room temp management) 😂
The leaf 🍃 🍁 🍂 - it would be good for teens who don’t have control over their parents home temperature. Or roommate situations. Putting it on the door or wherever would help them and their parents be more aware, without constantly struggling/arguing over the temperature.
Aki mis-conceptualized the purpose of the leaf thermometer. She mentions things like body temperature and the fact we're in a global pandemic (still). But it's not for that purpose. The blurb on the packaging specifically exemplifies putting it on your door (probably front door). So based on how the leaf reacts to the temperature of the door as absorbed by outside elements, you can determine whether you even need the AC on or not. This is not for medical purposes or for the body. It's for environmental things.
Thank you! It was pretty obvious by what's written on the packaging but I don't think I would outright by this. I bet someone who was more environmentally cautious would buy this and since Aki already has it, I think she should keep it and stick around the house. It would be good for her and sometimes we forget how hot is too hot that we need an air conditioner or what's too cold when we get blurred by specific numbers
except the whole notion of turning AC on and off is pretty much a myth, it's actually more energy efficient to just leave the temperature at whatever you find comfortable. When you turn the AC off, it's not just the air that gets warmer, it's everything in your home and when you eventually go back to turn the AC on because it's too hot, it's going to have to work extra hard to bring everything back down to temperature because everything is going to try to reach equilibrium, so your warm furniture is going to detract from the overall cooling of your home until it reaches that equilibrium. Conversely if the AC is kept on at a steady temperature all the AC has to do is work to maintain that temperature rather than working to actively bring down the temperature.
@@Wuffskers it really depends if the person knows when to turn them on and off for how long for maximum efficiency. Been doing mine based on the calculation i made from the ac's efficiency performance rating. And i am able to cut my electric bill by 66% just by knowing what time of day and for how long do i turn them on and keep them off, compared to turning them on for long periods of time within the day
For the leaf thermometer, I think that would serve as a fun way for kids to see if it is "too hot/cold" outside when getting ready to go out. Obviously certain visual indicators will tell, but when I'm a parent, I could see good use in it as a smol won't necessarily understand number temp, rather you can say "Ah, ah ah, where are you going dressed like that? What color is the leaf?" and get across the concepts of temperature in a fun way before tackling accurate numbers.
The leaf things are really cool. I would use them as decoration even. The tattoo patches would be too small for me :D I have too many large tattoos at this point.
6:16 I don't think it's supposed to replace *body* thermometers or *cooking/meat* thermometers, Aki 😂 it's just supposed to replace/be an alternative to room thermometers which makes people use AC/room heater excessively, bc "the numbers on the thermometers aren't exactly where I want it to be". when in reality, most of the times you don't even need to turn the AC/heater on just to change a couple of digits which is barely noticeable to the human body. let's conserve some more energy!
Aki, I have to say you are wrong on the leaves. These are similar to things I grew up with that told whether or not the bath temperature is too hot or cold for a child. They are VERY useful in the case that you might harm the babys skin. I think they are worth it, also to help children know when something is hot or cold if they cant read numbers too!
In Australia we used to be able to buy t shirts and underwear like the leafs that changed colour according to your body heat and the environment. They were called Hypercolour clothing.
i actually used to have a few of them in middle school, and recently i got one in a science subscription package fooled my dad into thinking i poured bleach on it lmao
I think this thermometer would be really good for disabled people. I know that some nerve damage or illnesses can cause you to not feel the temperature that well or even at all. In that case, having a visual would be very useful. Also! This would be great for teaching kids to express when they're too cold/hot or/and about temperatures overall.
I never look at the thermostat except when I’m hot or cold. There are diseases that can make you less sensitive to temperature, so the leaf isn’t that bad of an idea. Also, you can see the leaf from across the room.
I'm probably just going to avoid them.. I don't want to get into it with someone in a country where I'm not completely fluent. Might get so anxious I just run away hah
i mean, the leaf one is made so you know if its unnecessary too cold/hot for the people that use their air conditioner on 16°c or their heater up on 30°c (idk I don't really use a heater so rato ones probably not as high but whatever) my point is that yes, you need a body thermometer but maybe, when it comes to air conditioning your house you can't fully know when is too cold and stuff
The tattoo tape is really cool! I've been thinking about going to Japan for a trip, and it's good to see there's more options. I'm still a little too tatted for onsens that don't welcome tattoos, as I'd have several areas to cover and two very large tattoos (one down my ribcage, and one filling my whole shoulder blade)--but with a little finagling, it could still be a solid alternative.
im so glad to hear the tattoos in japan isnt as bad as the internet makes it sound.. i have an entire sleeve of tattoos and ive been weary on taking a trip to japan because of it haha. im sure i'll be fine if i cover it up but for an onsen im happy to hear theres tattoo friendly ones :)
Well a medical thermometer is something completely different... This said it starts getting brown at 25(?) degrees. So it's not useful for measuring body temperature at all. It's only meant for room temperature.
i'm like.. really stupid when it comes to judging temperatures. it's currently freezing outside and here i am. in shorts and a sweater. not sure if it's actually warm or cold rn. i keep putting a blanket on and off myself like an idiot. this leaf? would be hella useful to me lmao
She said in her previous video that another Detective Aki video will be out in the future; they just take a LONG time to make due to how much research goes into them.
The fact that Japans technology is way further ahead of the rest of the world just surprises me that they haven’t come out with a transparent self adhesive sticker that goes over your tattoo, takes a digital copy of your skin complexion, then reflects that complexion over the tattoo so it can cover it up perfectly
always love the way aki transitions her content to ads lol also the leaf thermometer is an amazingly cool concept. it’s meant for environmental purposes not for body heat or using it to tell if you’re sick of not. it’s a neat decorative visual :)
the leaf thermometer would make an amazing piece to show and brag to my family and friends when they visit my house considering the temperature at my place is pure chaos.
I never understood the criminal stigma around the tattoos in general, but in Japan the yakuza associations seem especially odd. Yakuza have a set of traditional designs and places to put them, right? You're telling me old ppl are genuinely gonna believe an idk, 20 year old girl with a rainbow pony on her arm has gang connections?? Like, context.
To be fair, there's really nothing stopping them from thinking "the younger Yakuza probably dislike traditional designs" or something like that. I do have a similar thought. I don't think yakuza would use tattoos that clearly childish, cutesy and does not evoke any fear or respect. They have a "brand identity" to follow, unless someone wants to start a criminal organisation with a cutesy harajuku theme. I can imagine colourful, cutesy, poki and ramune addictions running rampant...and I wouldn't mind joining. Gone are the days when we fear rusty iron whacking posts. At some point we must live in the days wher colourful sticks and glitter bombs are the terror if the streets. Also Avril Lavigne's "Hello "Kitty is the anthem. There should seriously be a manga on this.
I think it’s more of, it has to be a hard and fast rule, or else they would have to allow people with yakuza tattoos into those places as well. They can’t make a “no yakuza” rule bc that would get them in trouble with the actually yakuza, so they get around that by saying “no tattoos” instead.
Because there are actual yakuza in there that people pretty much know what they can cause so they already has a history with yakuza, so prolly a kinda irrational fear. Like how due to bombing incident to this day trash cans are few and far between. and they all has that characteristic? Also its easier to put that "sorry its the rule" than attempting to tell apart every single time between tattoed people whos a yakuza and whos not. If it was a big burly dude then... are all big burly dudes banned from onsens then... thatd make a group feel more discriminated I spose but if they just let everyone in then thats bad too Its a weird rule but jpn is known for being a weird strict country with weird n strict rules n culture anyway
I’m going to see if I can find those leaf thermometers. My husband loves to keep our house like summer in the winter months, which I hate because I prefer the cold, but that’s a different story. So if I put a bunch of those leaves around, not only would they look pretty, they’d also be a good way to prove to him that he keeps the house way too hot and he’s wasting energy. Personally, I love them!
I like the leaf. It could be cooler if they had a larger color range that corresponds to a temperature range. Like from black-brown-green-yellow-orange-red. Black could be be below freezing, red could be over 98.6f/ 37c. Also could be useful for CIPA patients who dont have the ability to feel temperature
I think the leaves would work great just as decorations. Incorporate them into a bigger decoration for your door or window and the leaves will change with the weather and the seasons. Product needs to be rebranded.
What I like about Japanese products is the designer/creator of the product sometimes puts a philosophy behind the design blurb. It might be just me but it's a nice touch.
I was interested with the leaf thermometer so i checked in amazon. Its not a body thermometer and it should be used in rooms with doors and windows. The design is inspired by showing the transition of seasons both temperature-wise and visually. I’m excited to use it 🍃
The leaf thermometer would be helpful in case of a fire. If the door is really hot you don't want to touch it so if the leaf is on the door you could easily tell the temperature of the door to avoid doors with fire behind them.
Sorry Aki, but I've been seeing notepads in the shape of food for a LONG time now so it does surprise me to see a lettuce one. I live in the USA, but I have an office store not too far from me that sell notepads that look like cupcakes and an art supply store that sells them in the shape of shoes. X'D
regarding the leaf thermometer, when I was a kid my dad had this strip that if you put it on your forehead it would change colors depending on the temp. I Didn't realise I missed this until I saw this so thanks.
Your tattoos are so gorgeous ❤️ I’m getting a peony on my forearm once covid calms down and I would need several packets of fake skin to cover all mine 🤣
I personally thing that leaf thing is amazing! My boyfriend is on the autism spectrum and obsessed with the “correct” temperature number. I just like to adjust the heater to cooler/warmer depending how I actually physically feel like. I think this might actually be useful for us. Thanks for showcasing it! 😊
the leaf thermometer is pretty cool stuff. Rather than actually using it to tell temperature i find it to be a really interesting prop if you decorate a shop/room of nature theme with those. You don't even have to worry about swapping decals with those since they change colours to match the season
I loved the leaf thermometer ! It’s really good to see if your room is the right temperature and manage your heater/air conditioning because according to people you can feel the temperature really differently
The tattoo cover actually works. By bf uses it when we go to onsen etc. But it's expensive, doesn't have bigger sizes and it could be hard to find correct colour for your skin. But I really recommend it to people with tattoos and want to go to amusement park etc where it needs to be covered.
People are really misunderstanding the leaf thermometer. Aki mentioned that they're for outdoors and that number thermometers would be better because we need to check body temp constantly. She was using her body heat to show how it reacted to different temperatures. You're making a connection that isn't there. Not a wrong assumption to make, just not the case here.
In bigger cities and touristy areas, there are definitely lots of onsen that are tattoo friendly! There is even a website with listings of all kinds of tattoo friendly onsen. But in smaller towns... it's not changed nearly so much.
I feel as excited about the leaf things as Aki does. I love these sort of things: mood rings, magic fish, and thermal color indicators, like on batteries and old school Transformers toys insignias.
i was watching this is our living room with loud volume and when Aki pulled out the lettuce and said 'but it's not lettuce', I immediately lowered the volume fearing that it might be a sex toy lmao hey, given the record of this series and jp in general i think my intuition and actions are justifiable
I think that leaf thermometer is awesome for like preschool or kindergarten children, so they know the difference between wearing a jacket when the leaf is brown or shorts when it's yellow! But for adults yeah it's nothing more than a kawaii item
that leaf reminds me of a toy i had as a kid. it was 2 different (fake) pieces of bread and if you used ice on one side of each piece it'd turn into peanut butter and jelly.
The leaf thermometer definitely couldn't work to measure body heat. 20-25 degrees Celcius is colder than average human body temperature, which is 37 degrees Celcius. A regular temperature would be marked as too hot.
god i stopped watching akidearest videos for a while, id forgotten how funny aki is, this week has been so hard for me but i genuinely laughed a lot watching her videos fr
The tatoo one is amazing because both my husband and I have tattoos but the concern is he has a huge pair on his forearms. The patches you used looked just the right size. Hes been concerned if we ever took a trip he wouldnt be able to experience an onsen or wed have to search for one that allowed him to go in. So thats super helpful!

The leaf is probably the coolest item in this series even though it's such a gimmick.
The reason why the leaf is able to change colors because it has thermal turmeric crystals that change color to the temperature
the leaf thermometer would make an amazing piece to show and brag to my family and friends when they visit my house considering the temperature at my place is pure chaos.
If it was a big burly dude then... are all big burly dudes banned from onsens then... thatd make a group feel more discriminated I spose but if they just let everyone in then thats bad too
Its a weird rule but jpn is known for being a weird strict country with weird n strict rules n culture anyway
Those skin taps are really cool !!
I wonder how it would look like if someone put them all (as in skin tones ) on his body in an artistic way 🤔
I’m going to see if I can find those leaf thermometers.
The leaf thing is so cute
I love hearing that tattoos are being more accepted!! Definitely gives me more motivation to visit when possible
Tell me you've never owned a mood ring, without telling me you've never owned a mood ring.
Yeah, that's what I was thinking.
What I like about Japanese products is the designer/creator of the product sometimes puts a philosophy behind the design blurb.
It might be just me but it's a nice touch.
The leaf thermometer is actually pretty neat. Your fan tattoo BEAUTIFUL Aki
I was interested with the leaf thermometer so i checked in amazon. Its not a body thermometer and it should be used in rooms with doors and windows. The design is inspired by showing the transition of seasons both temperature-wise and visually.
I’m excited to use it 🍃
Aki's fan tattoo is absolutely STUNNING! ( & unique)
I would adore that lettuce journal as work sticky notes, such a fun way to have them!!
regarding the leaf thermometer, when I was a kid my dad had this strip that if you put it on your forehead it would change colors depending on the temp. I Didn't realise I missed this until I saw this so thanks.
Your tattoos are so gorgeous ❤️ I’m getting a peony on my forearm once covid calms down and I would need several packets of fake skin to cover all mine 🤣
If UA-cam had an award for sponsor transitions, Aki would win by a landslide. She kills it every time 😂
Funnily enough the leaf thermometer may actually be good for keeping tabs on if it's too hot or cold for your plants
“My cabbages.”
😂 I love it
I personally thing that leaf thing is amazing! My boyfriend is on the autism spectrum and obsessed with the “correct” temperature number. I just like to adjust the heater to cooler/warmer depending how I actually physically feel like. I think this might actually be useful for us. Thanks for showcasing it! 😊
The cabagettuce transition to the ad was 😙🤌 chef's kiss
the leaf thermometer is pretty cool stuff. Rather than actually using it to tell temperature i find it to be a really interesting prop if you decorate a shop/room of nature theme with those. You don't even have to worry about swapping decals with those since they change colours to match the season
I haven’t watched one of these for ages, glad that it’s back.
Leaf thermometer: *changes color to show various temperature changes*
Colorblind ppl: [visible confusion]
👁️👄👁️
OMG I was wondering about the tattoos and onsens, FINALLY someone adresses that
Lol, Joey sounded like he was from Wisconsin for a second. 🤣🤣🤣 "Oh oh oh no"
I kinda like the lettuce note book it's cute I find I would buy it
Aki aki I'm so happy to see a new video I've been starving
As a newbie tattoo artist, the tape was interesting xD
Also DAMMMMN your tattoo is really nice, how many seccions did it take to finish? Like, two?
There is a whole vid about process of making it on Aki's channel! It is pretty interesting to watch, so I recommend checking it out :з
She has a video on it, and it seems like it was one solid session.
@@soleilwei7796 thank you! ❤️❤️
@@Mothman_In_a_T-Pose thanks! ✨
One doesn’t experience self transcendence, the illusion of self only dissipates 🎈
omg your tattoo is so pretty❤️ it matches your hair so good
i know it's such a weird and expensive item................but I kinda want the lettuce notepad x'DDDDDDD
People are really misunderstanding the leaf thermometer. Aki mentioned that they're for outdoors and that number thermometers would be better because we need to check body temp constantly. She was using her body heat to show how it reacted to different temperatures. You're making a connection that isn't there. Not a wrong assumption to make, just not the case here.
it took me a second to realize she was doing a sponsorship, the transition was so smooth
Foundation tape for sure makes me excited
Totally amazing why Japan video akidearest, fantastic job.
You're almost at 3 million! Congrats!
Your sponsor plugs get me every time 🤣
Your hairstyle and piercing look so cool! You're so pretty 🥰 also love your videos ^w^
i was watching this is our living room with loud volume and when Aki pulled out the lettuce and said 'but it's not lettuce', I immediately lowered the volume fearing that it might be a sex toy lmao
hey, given the record of this series and jp in general i think my intuition and actions are justifiable
Yes the lettuce notepad is underwhelming but kudos on using it for a cute ad for your sponsor. Cheers.
As a product designer, I’m absolutely loving that leaf thermometer
I think that leaf thermometer is awesome for like preschool or kindergarten children, so they know the difference between wearing a jacket when the leaf is brown or shorts when it's yellow! But for adults yeah it's nothing more than a kawaii item
I love the idea of the leaf thermometer! I want those so bad...
It would be really cool if they made the leaf for fake plants 😱
that leaf reminds me of a toy i had as a kid. it was 2 different (fake) pieces of bread and if you used ice on one side of each piece it'd turn into peanut butter and jelly.
I think the idea behind the leaf is that it alerts you if it's too hot or cold so you can then go off and check the actual digits
aki's sponser transitions are good😭
It is USEFUL you can use the leaf like a cool functioning decor
The leaf thermometer was cool, I know I’d keep it.
The leaf thing is super cool.
Aki- queen of subtle advertisement xD
Love your “WHY JAPAN?!” Videos!! Keep up the work!! 😄
your tattoos are absolutely gorgeous i love the fan one so pretty
The leaf thermometer definitely couldn't work to measure body heat. 20-25 degrees Celcius is colder than average human body temperature, which is 37 degrees Celcius. A regular temperature would be marked as too hot.
True but remember it's designed to replace room thermometers so people can save energy by recognizing if it's too hot or cold in a room easier
@@nexusthefireyspirit7877 Yes, that's what I mean. It's still a cool concept, just not good for use on humans.
Award for smoothest sponsor transition goes to Aki
god i stopped watching akidearest videos for a while, id forgotten how funny aki is, this week has been so hard for me but i genuinely laughed a lot watching her videos fr
Aki videos are one of the only ones where I don't skip the ads cuz the transitions are *chef's kiss*
