79?!! Wow, it is likely your language exercises made your brain really younger! Congratulations! I am 53 and speak 5 languages (very fluent in Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, French and English. I also learnt to read and write Arabic and now I am learning my 6th language, Swedish. You inspire me ! Congratulations and thank you!
I love your video content, your personal accomplishments (20 languages, mas o menos), and I have gotten to appreciate Lingq as well. One thing that might be helpful is a deep instructional video on how to use Lingq, since almost every time you talk about Lingq in a video, I find myself thing "darn, I didn't know about that feature". Keep up the good work and domo arigatoo gozaimasu!
Αgreed about the need for a deep instructional video on how best to use LingQ; I missed the recent discussion video and wonder if this is still available to view.
Dear Steve, congratulations on yet another great and informative video. As an enthusiastic student of languages, I am currently working on learning Portuguese. In addition to my native Turkish, I have learned English, German, Italian, French, Russian, Spanish, Bahasa Malaysia and Thai (only spoken one), to varying degrees of proficiency. I would have acquired LingQ in a heartbeat if the European Portuguese were available as a distinct teaching program. I get that Brazilian Portuguese is spoken by far more people globally, and in the Americas, but It is not as useful as its European variety in a continental European setting -- or, in an African setting for that matter. Oh, by the way, I live in Mozambique. All the best in your endeavors.
Absolutely agree! Recently, I found an old vocabulary list from when I was trying traditional methods to learn English - before I discovered LingQ. I looked at each word on that list and realized I didn't remember any of the words I’d tried to memorize the old-fashioned way. But all the words I learned through exposure, like reading books or listening to podcasts with LingQ, stuck with me naturally. LingQ doesn’t just make you memorize; it teaches in context, and you genuinely learn. Thanks, Steve! So glad I found this UA-cam channel and LingQ.
I admire people who can enjoy this kind of digital invention. Personally, I feel like I’m in a digital cage. I miss personal contact and human relationships. Yes, human connection is lacking. You feel lost in the digital jungle, devoid of emotions. Sorry, Steve, your gadget isn’t for me. Besides, you can’t even try it without paying upfront. Congratulations on your success!
Hey! I had the same payment problem, the trick was to disable automatic lingQ creation and using the app without adding lingQs, it was good in general.
Steve you are my language learning guru currently I am learning English I am not using lingq because it cost is too much and I can't afford it so I want to request you to please free the lingq you can add ads I think this will have many people who don't afford lingq. lovefrom India❤
Thank you Steve! It would be great to have an AI tool to translate content from one LingQ language to another. I realized that my German recommendations were more interesting (physics, Einstein's Bibliographie, etc) than my japanese recommendations (jpop songs and realities). It would be nice to do that translation inside the app without needing an external provider, just like the ministories.
Thank you for the very useful videos you provide. Can you make a video on how to use the application correctly because I did not understand how to use it and it has many categories? Can you make a video for beginners in the language?
Steve is such an impressive man. Ive been doing a bit of Spanish every day for nearly 1 year and im at 2,000 known words. I couldn't imagine knowing 8k nevermind 35k
Dear Steve, how many times does one need to go through the mini stories on Lingq to remember the words? Could you do a video on how you do it? (how many lessons and repititions?) Best regards, Nils
I think linq is a useful resource, but it is not my cup of tea for absolute beginners. I started learning Mandarin several months ago. I soon found that linq was not enough. Just for the record: I have learned several languages through the years, so I am not a beginner when it comes to acquiring a new language.
1. Lingq is not developing , it has no development 2. Very bad bad bad interface of app 3. Very confusing about grouping ( lessons course known words linngq new words percentage ??? ) even try to read instructions very very confusing
hey Steve how do you keep all your books clean and bug free? I don't know how rare it is.. but bugs eat the pages of books when they're dusty I believe
@Thelinguist, fantastic! Thank you for all your help along this journey. I gave LingQ a second chance and I'm really starting to love it. When I first started learning Spanish two months ago, it felt a bit overwhelming. Some of the presets confused me and left me feeling frustrated. However, I found a UA-cam video that recommended better settings for beginners, and that made a big difference. That said, LingQ truly is an amazing app, and I'm glad I listened to you and Olly Richards and decided to revisit it. I'm finally finding my groove now, and it's quite remarkable!
Well of course you're going to be recommending your own app. You are bias. Its like going on to Aston Martins you tube channel and listening to them tell you what the best car to buy is.
you can reset the language in the settings by deleting it, or you can just click all the words individually that you’ve forgotten and make them level 1 lingqs which is basically the same as an unknown word but just lets you know youve come across it before
@@gogomaximoff4554, hi, friend. To help you with your English, I will tell you that we don't have a word "U". Context tells me the word you want is "You". Otherwise, your English appears to be correct. Congratulations.
@@gogomaximoff4554 thanks for asking. No I did not use "U". It is not a word. It's a letter. The only one-letter words in English are "a" and "I". Correct English has nothing to do with xenophobia; quite the opposite.

@@billpark4402I also agree.
我是英语爱好者,反反复复的学习英文,总是失败,如果早些年发现了LingQ,也许我现在已经习得该语言了。目前使用LingQ2个月,感觉真的很好。我已经可以阅读简单的文章。希望LingQ可以越做越好,加油。

Honest question - how independent is the study if its paid for by lingq?
All the companies studied paid for their own study so when comparing results, that is pretty independent.
Incredible !

Do you plan to include Hungarian?
Thanks

I am a historian, could you guys put old languages in the App? Like sumerian, old hebrew, greek and hieroglyphics. It would be powerful
I doubt if the demand nor the availability of content make this possible.
I would like to see Irish on LinQ.
The best app is the one you own mmk
I have this
1. Lingq is not developing , it has no development
2. Very bad bad bad interface of app
3. Very confusing about grouping ( lessons course known words linngq new words percentage ??? ) even try to read instructions very very confusing
It’s a good app but barely find American accent in the book section which is what I like. I don’t think i been upgrading

There is no Arabic translation 😭
No Glossika in that research comparison? No Anki? Pimsleur? When they have iTalki, what about HelloTalk?
Ask them
Was wondering is there a way to apply become a contributor of content to LingQ? Specifically for Arabic?
I think you can apply to become a LingQ librarian
@ludmilamaiolini6811 do you know where?
@ I think they sent emails a few weeks ago inviting people, but I don’t know where exactly in the app you can apply
What about the "miraa app"
Hey Steve can You say a bit more about taking a picture and passing it thru chatgpt. What exactly do I need to say to chatgpt for this to work?
Just post the jpeg and ask GPT to convert it to digital text. I do this because Google Drive messes up the Turkish diacritics.

Can people with C2 level of Spanish and English benefit from LinQ?
with c2 you can read Shakespeare directly

How can I restart a course that I did not use for a long time. All words of this course should be made unknown.
