I have too many fishing memories to pick one. As a kid going fishing with my cousins was always top teir. And we're still fishing together now.
My best catfish bait has always been chicken liver soaked in garlic. I tie it to the hook by just wrapping some black sewing thread around the bait and hook.
i use hot dogs in garlic salt and blue powerade powder

I’d also like to add that I’ve caught probably 10 30-40lb cats on live blue hill the same size as yours if not bigger. I caught my pb blue cat (65lbs) on a live blue gill. I cut their top fins off, snip their tales, and hook them dead center in the top and let them swim around on bottom.

Anyone wondering why they kept them out of the water so long? Yes its because the catfish can switch a separate breathing where they can actually take in air. That's why you see the cat doing that chewing motion.

Put frozen water bottle, in the live bait bucket, that will keep your bait live longer

through the bottom of the jaw up through the nose is where I typically hook a bluegill when flathead fishing.

Amazed you didn’t get more bluegills off the docks. Our dock had so many that I could just use a bare hook & catch all the bait fish I needed. My dad would fish for crappie & I would set up 3-4 rods for big fish. Cats, stripers, hybrids, gars. Never knew what would you would get.

It's those worms. We own 8 TN River lots. We spend a lot of time fishing and the green worms suck. Nightcrawlers in general suck. Redworms catch more and don't even try the doughballs you buy at Walmart. Live minnows and bluegill catch the best and most.
your fish are dieing in the livewell ... water is too hot. Bubbles floating on top of the water is a sure sign the water is stagnating .... don't leave the well in the sun.

Try a Microsoft carolina rig for big bait sized bait. Use 4lb flor line a 16th oz or smaller egg sinker (I cast my own) and a #6 aberden hook. I also only use red wigglers.

A med size blue or flathead could eat even the 1 pound bass you caught but i consider bass to be low quality bait vs shad my favorite live gamefish to use is yellow perch

I’ve never had luck catching cats with stink bait on a regular hook, I’ve had way more luck using a treble with stink bait.

Traveling to all 50 states stopping at each capital and picking the best spot to fish in each ...would be awesome video! Then keeping record of size of a few kimds and seeing which state has the biggers catch (gotta use same bait wverywhere)
Me and my father would use a roadkill anything. bring it out to our spot. put it in a burlap bag and tie a gal jug for a float to see where the bait pile is. leave it overnight and fish with sun ripened chicken livers for huge channel cats. when we were done, we would remove the bait pile. It would be cool to see it on video and I'm betting it will do just as good now as it did then. Huge Cats like bathtub big...

Bass will eat smaller bass. I have caught large bass that throw up baby bass while i am fighting them and and in the net and boat.
If you want to catch catfish fish on the bottom
It os illegal to use a bass as bait here in Missouri. You can't use game fish for bait. Especially out of that throw net. You can't legally take a game fish with a throw net.
