I want to live in South America but being a gringo with money I am afraid of being robbed or killed or having crimes committed against me. I like uraguay and Paraguay further south west not sure where I should go travel first to see where I want to live down there from USA
That doesn't happen if you stay in the trendy tourist areas of any city in the world. There are dodgy, high-crime areas in New York, LA, Chicago, London, etc as well. It's the same in Lima, but just like in any big city, Lima has also safe tourist suburbs like Barranco (the suburb where this UA-camr was staying in this video) and Miraflores by the sea, which are gorgeous. They'll remind you of the coast of California in many ways. Plus, they're the most tourist-friendly and safest neighborhoods in Peru, with their own security police due to their affluent status.
nice videos man. definitely some good videography! are you using airbnb? i am heading there for a while in 2 weeks but i felt all the surcharges for airbnb were pretty high. still not USA pricing but it definitely increased the costs maybe 20-30%. thanks!
Hey! Yes I was using Air BnB for this. Thanks for the compliment on the video works as well! You may be able to use a VPN and see if there's a price different in Air BnB.
Hey! Sorry it's taken me so long to respond. I'm currently taking a break from producing videos to take an inward creative dive! I only road in taxis, but the traffic there is pretty standard for South America. It's a busy city and a bit chaotic (depending on what your experience is).

Can someone explain how Peruvians living in Lima even live there? The average salary is 400$ there, and this guy showing a fairly decent but nothing crazy apartment costing double that, without the food or any other expenses?
There are massive shantytowns that constitute most of Lima and where most people live. There are also large areas that are pretty nice, like where this guy is. Food and transportation are cheap.
Haha I should do a full video on this! There's a long story version to it, but because I was basically forced to, then it was good for my back, and now as a traveler it makes it so I can sleep anywhere!
I lived in Lima/Miraflores. Outside of MF and San Isidro it can be a dump. There are 10,000,000 people that live there. Water rationing is common with power outages. You can see the weather is gloomy and depressing during the winter months. I never could get used to their culture, even though I am fluent in Spanish and acquired a DNI Peruano. I married a Peruana and thank God I am back in States.
@57rrg, you again? You always said the same thing, looks like you go to all the UA-camrs who speaks good about Perú to write the same comment. Because you have had a bad experience in Perú, that doesn't mean that the same thing happens to everyone that visit here. I can imagine how your wife feels when you speak badly about her country.
Nice! Im half Peruvian and always thought Lima reminded me of San Francisco in many ways, specifically the climate and minimal rain
I've been to Lima- it's awesome. Thanks for the tour.
