Absolutely beautiful film. And it has one of the greatest last shots in cinema history.
A perfect movie in my book. Only thing I'd have add is a post credits scene with some of Spielberg's footage. I know his first movies are lost, but I bet there's to be at least something left and it'd have been really emotional
@@davidfernandez8515 this would be so cool
@@davidfernandez8515 hey nice idea
The semi autobiographical story of an old man saying "I'm a genious, genically. I never learned to direct I always knew. Look at me I'm a Gary Stu".
@@trorisk What? Did we watch the same movie?
To see Maestro John Williams ever so easily position himself onto the piano bench the way he did at age 89-90 is a beautiful thing...
I forever want to hold onto the feeling this movie gave me
It’s so beautiful that Spielberg made his most personal film at Universal 😊
The studio that helped put him and his production company Amblin on the map. The one that started it all.
I absolutely love this movie probably my favorite movie of all time
The scenes in this movie flow like poetry. Such a beautiful film. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
I’ve always loved Steven Spielberg’s films and live just a few minutes away from where he saw his first movie. He has this amazing ability to recreate the feeling of being a child, whether it’s that sense of wonder or the inner emotions of a child of divorce. I had to hold back tears as I watched this with my mom because let’s just say I could very much relate to part of the storyline. I’ve been in that position before where as soon as you have your parent’s remorse, you don’t want it. Because it hurts too much to see them sad, no matter how much their mistakes may have hurt you. So like Seth said, I could very much project a bit of my own life onto this film, even knowing it’s about Steven Spielberg.
"There are no villains in The Fabelmans. In a way, The Fabelmans is a story about the act of forgiveness; and how important that act of forgiveness is. One of the reasons I wrote this story is because at a very young age, something happened in my life, which is reflected in my film, but something happened in my life which was between myself and my mother, where I stopped perceiving my mother as a parent, and began looking upon her as a person. I had that epiphany when I was sixteen years old, and so I have never looked at any of the people in my story as enemies."
Beautiful words from Spielberg! If only every one us could look at our parents, or anyone else, as the person that they are, and not as the role they play in our lives, we would always forgive each other and live more peacefully.
I absolutely Adored this movie! Spielberg's best work since the 90s.
Since the 90s? Minority Report, Catch Me If You Can, Lincoln, the BFG! He's made so many great movies in the last 20 years.
@@HEAVYHONEY1 Yes he has. I think this one is better than those.
I absolutely loved this movie it was funny with drama watched with my siblings I really liked it the trailer does not do justices to the movie I was not very excited to watch it going into the theater but left so satisfied 10/10 would recommend
Beautiful, poignant, fun, funny, entertaining, moving film! I loved it so much. From one of the greats. So lucky to be living in Spielberg Times
This was a great film! So interesting to see Spielberg’s story on the screen ❤
What a beautiful, bold and brave picture for Steven Spielberg to make. Thank you for this!
I think we should savor this decade. Its might be their last decade to make movies for some of these Legends, Spielberg, Scorsese, Tarantino etc, etc. Even just saying out loud makes my heart heavy.
I will see this at some point I promise.
I have tremendous respect for Steven Spielberg. After his team sent me that personal first class Letter that showed up on my porch in a first class FedEx Express envelope. ❤
What did it say? why'd he send it?
@@Mr.Goodkat I would have to send it your email it’s kinda too long type out.
I sent a fan letter to him saying that I am from Aurora Colorado, and I did survive the Aurora Colorado Century 16 theatre shooting 10 years ago.
Long story short I was in theatre 8 where the bullets went through the wall, and lost my friend next door in theatre 9 where the shooter was.
I also said that he was my favorite director, and if he could find someone to write up the script that I would trust him with the story line. I think after 10 years it’s a story worth telling.
@@topcat4807 I'm sorry to hear about your friend, glad you got a letter back and hope you're doing ok now.
@@Mr.Goodkat thanks much appreciated.
I saw this movie last week, easily in my top 5 Spielberg films. And the most Spielberg-ian movie too, sooo well directed
I love it when the behind-the-scenes video has the tone and feeling that movie carries. Great job.
Thanks! I made a lot of these videos for television in the past, so I had some practice. But it’s always nice when someone pays attention to editing.
My favorite movie of the year no doubt. Moved me deeply. ❤
Oscar for David lynch 👏🎥
I can't think of anything I else I could have been more unprepared to see at the end of this film. In hindsight, it was a brilliant stroke of genius.
It was definitely one of the best movies of 2022, along with Matt Reeves' Batman and Top Gun 2
Great movie
My grandmother loves this movie
Right On Point!!
Me. Seth has a contagious laughter 🤭
☝️😂👍.
Love this movie! WTG Steven.
Was an absolutely good film!
I think this movie will inspire future directors to make movies if i saw this movie 40 years ago i might have just made a movie that i wanted to see. No matter the quality
old school he shot it on film love it
By glad you are listening to a genius speak.
This movie spoke to me in pretty much the deepest possible way it could’ve, because my family went through an extraordinarily similar event when I was a child. In short, my parents divorced for the same reason as Spielberg’s did. The revelation that he talks about at 3:35 was one that I had when I was 12, and it hit me like a train, and like him, I’ve never looked at anyone as a pure villain ever again. The realization of nuance and subtlety is usually not something people understand until their 20s, or even later, and in many ways it has helped shape me into someone that tries to emphasize empathy and understanding over everything else. I loved this movie.
Great film. Really maade me cry n laught I watched it yesterday recently. Really got stock in my head the whole film. 💯👍
Best film watched in last 5 years curious to know what diffusion filter they used in most of the film looks fantastic 😊
Pro mist filter maybe?
@@airalex7257 Pro mist? Black Pro mist? Glimmerglass? Black Glimmerglass? It's hard to figure out
I mean, how cool must it be to be Seth Rogan. He's a movienerd, grew up with Steven Spielberg and now he takes part in Spielbergs most personal film.
What is John Williams playing in that little ending clip?
The interview with Michelle Williams threw me for a little because of the chair they sat her in is the same colour as her skin, and it made her look like she had giant football shoulders.
tarantino must make movie about him as a child :)
Does anyone know what Super 8 camera Speilberg is shooting with there?
In the beginning of the film it’s a Kodak Super 8 and later his “uncle” buys him a ARRI Arriflex 16ST
@@MayhemMendes thank you, i wonder what the actual camera he's using tho in the BTS you see him shooting the camping scene with a super 8 with a battery in his pocket
It looks like a Beaulieu, but there's no logo on the side. I think it's a custom modern version like this one: www.pro8mm.com/products/classic-professional-super-8-camera
@@MayhemMendes thank you this looks right doesn't it! Great call i will look into this. I bought film from here once when i was in LA.
Did Seth Rogan really just hot potato drop Michelle Williams! Hope she didn't get hurt...
I can't believe Steven Spielberg didn't pick Brad Pitt to play him. If I was making a movie about my life, that's who I'd want to play me.
Only gonna watch this because of Julia Butters
"Chad" was not a villain? Then why did I so much enjoy watching him get punched and kicked?
C’mon it’s with the high school shit it doesn’t count with the actual story
8:52
The true villain 🦹♀️ was “Divorce”
I think he’s talking about an antagonist. There isn’t a constant antagonist (at least a character) during the film
These actors all appreciated the movie and working with Spielberg, who is obviously a good egg. But the story doesn't interest me. And unless it turns up without charge on YTube, I will not go out of my way to see it in theaters.
ok buddy. give it a chance
Alright??
@@granthess6493 lmao
Great! No point for you to comment then......move on!
If you’re family had crises, if you had passion for anything growing up, you should be able to relate to this movie.
A mostly boring film but I really enjoyed the ending!
Actually felt uncomfortable watching it. Like when you're at someone's house and you have to pet the dog to avoid the awkwardness.
Seriously don't get the hype.... a very disappointing film from Spielberg..mediocre at best.. not really an award winning film either.. and Mr Wiliam's score is borderline instantly forgettable... and this is coming from a life-long supporter of all their films together...
