With these decks especially I kinda wanted the art to be some what passable because they did amazing on the artwork in these decks I’d hate to ruin the overall theme. Let me know how it plays with the upgrades!!
I'd say mind stone and thought vessel are fine cuz 2 mana ramp. I do agree with the rest of the cuts tho. This is the best upgrade vid for this deck i've seen yet. Goodjob man!
@@decktechsfordecks im gonna build the deck around imotekh and i've basically seen every vid on it on yt and i've scoured edhrec and gatherer for cards and you still managed to show me some cards i hadnt seen somehow
It's worth mentioning that Ashnod's Altar is getting a reprint in Brothers' War so the most expensive card in that combo becomes way more affordable soon.
Something to keep in mind about Triarch Stalker is that it gives your opponents creatures menace as well if they swing at the chosen opponent, not just your own.
I understood that but it’s not really a huge incentive for people to attack that player vs you still maybe In niche scenarios it allows someone to get an important creature though and actually helps your opponent more then you. There’s a tone of creatures with combat triggers that could win games if they are allowed to connect. Some I’m pretty confident on the cut
I actually really like the Silent King as the commander, he has flying so they dont just block and he dies, he swings and they cant block so he gets in. Can also win with commander damage when paired with Imotek and/or Skorpehk Overlord, not even to mention his attack trigger is basically draw 3 for this deck. Scarab Swarm is also a recurrable Bojuka Bog if you look at the exile entire grave instead of the 1/1s you get Definite fan of these combos though, one ive discovered is Out of the Tombs + Leveler to empty your library, Into the Tombs trigger to get back Canoptek Spyder and then cast any artifact for Spyder trigger, replace the draw getting back Psychomancer trigger Spyder again, replace the draw for Lokust Heavy Destroyer and then just win from there by infinite sack Lokust
I see your point with the little evasion it has but plane and simple attack triggers are just weaker in general compared to static abilities. Not to mention once you get ashnods alter on the field imotekh goes infinite with the kitchen sink. There are also way better ways to chuck stuff into the graveyard like phyrexian alter it has no ceiling the amount of power you have on the board equals the amount of cards you can chuck in the grave while silent king is limited to 3 cards a turn. I don’t think he’s bad I just think he’s one of the worst choices. I see your point with scarab swarm looking back it would have been better to cut something less impactful but 14 solid choices out of 15 ain’t bad.
The best c9mmander in the deck didnt even get mentioned... Illuminor Szeras anything you recur out gets sacced for mana value. Anything you swing with and die gets sacced for mana value. Cast a creature that kills somthing on ETB sac it for mana value and bring it back.
At 6 mana I kinda assumed every player would be holding up removal or counter spells for when you try to resolve that get I think he’s going to be more powerful in the 99 so there’s a bit more surprise to him. You could definitely stick to the mill plan and throw some infinite combos in the graveyard then boom out of no where cast him and win. Definitely a fan of the bolas’s citadel add if you throw in devining top and aeitherflux you’ve got yourself a win con
@@decktechsfordecks yup and it's all in artifact theme also you candace your tokens to deal 10 at worst but usually if you resolve citadel you should win
Thanks for all your hard work. I wouldn't cut all that ramp with such a high mana curve. Maybe one or two if you're really desperate to put something else in. A card that does a ton of work in this type of deck is Syr Konrad, the Grim. Doesn't fit the theme of Necrons, but you already went down that road. lol
I definitely considered Syr Konrad and I can see him doing some crazy work in the deck. I can see your point on the mana ramp. I’m definitely going to do a full deck tech soon that basically guts the necron theme even tho the art is beautiful. Can’t wait to shove a pitiless plunderer in the deck.
I really disagree with cutting canopies scarab swarm. If you have an ashnods altar, phyrexian altar, or KCI out, you can exile an opponents library and almost certainly go mana positive. You will also probably benefit in other ways from the bugs dying as well if you’re leaning into aristocrats.
I definitely agree with that I probably won’t end up cutting it myself the comments have convinced me. I’ll probably end up cutting beacon of unrest instead. What did you think of the upgrades if you don’t mind me asking?
Wish I'd seen this before I spent 95$ on random black cards! I was thinking upgrade Sheoldred,I should have been thinking upgrade Necrons(I detest and hated Warhammer coming to Magic😡,still do in principle. But OMG I LUV the Necrons!!!) Mores Necrons please.Necrons are the new zombies!
I feel the same way it’s rough adding 60 new cards per deck in a product that they can’t realistically reprint any time soon but… the cards look amazing and the cards they added are very interesting and not necessarily over powered. Plus the art is amazing
Don't knock scarab swarm. Exiling your opponents bin is already a useful ability, and getting a scarab for every artifcat or land can drop you some HUGE swarms. I made 21 that became a flying death horde and crewed my vehicles
Looking back there’s definitely better cards I could have cut instead of that one. I’m that graveyard player in the playgroup and failed to realize how effective it be vs those types of decks. What did you think of the upgrades if you don’t mind me asking?
Heyo rly like the upgrades and cuts but do you have something in mind if cuting canoptek scarab swarm is a no go? in my group there are so much graveyard strats I need some graveyard hate any thoughts?
Hey there, I just got my copy of the pre con and have played a few matches with Szarekh. I strongly agree with your choice of replacing him with Imotekh. I had a few times where I just couldn't attack with Szarekh at all because of creatures my opponents had. I'm curious to hear your opinion on where a few of the best sources of recursion could come from with this deck? Loved the upgrades, great video.
Aside from the ones In the deck and the ones I already suggested in the video you could add junk diver and workshop assistant they are both solid artifact recursion cards additionally they also go infinite with ashnods alter and your commander. Im glad you enjoyed the video!!
Imotekh is definitely more powerful than the traveler just because he’s limited by having to attack. But Tryzan the infinite is a real Contender for sure! Thank you for giving my video a watch!
How can you say Shard of the nightbringer doesn’t do anything crazy when paired up with cards like Defiant Bloodlord and wound Reflection it’s game ending that turn
You’d have to include a whole other card to make it worth while and it didn’t fit the artifact theme. At the end of the day cutting high cost cards is the best way to make a deck play more efficiently. Draw that on turn one it’s a dead card. No hate btw I’m just attempting to explain what’s going through my mind when I cut it I appreciate the conversation!!
It’s target opponent not each opponent so you’d need a way to bounce it back to your hand or recur it from the graveyard 2 additional times to end the game.
So this is a niche scenario and causes a lot of confusion but sense the pip is in the reminder text it technology doesn’t change its color identity. So the color identity of crypt ghast is only black :)
Before Watching: Lifeline, Coretapper, Bottle Gnomes, Magistrate Scepter. Words of Waste, Tergrid, God of Fright. Butcher of Malakir, Dark Prophecy, Erebos, God of the Dead, Whip of Erebos, Dictate of Erebos Call of the Death-Dweller. Phyrexian Reclamation, Ashnod's altar, Phyrexian Altar.
@@decktechsfordecks i was going for a "keep all of them playable" route, but it would make the Attackers much better. If i was aiming to win i would add "Repay in Kind" and "Deck of Many Things" to the Anryak Pile or Unwinding Clock, Staff of Domination, Cabal Coffers and Liquimetal Coating to the Trazyn pile
Seems solid if you don’t mind me asking what did you think of the upgrades I made overall the goal was to make it more consistent with the card draw and to add some win cons with the combos.
@@decktechsfordecks i'd skip Burried Alive and Altar of Dementia for Bitter Ordeal and either Dictate of Erebos or Butcher of Malakir. Mill is not your strategy. I'd also probably drop Necron Overlord for Whip of Erebos if i feel the need to counter Aggro decks or Champion of Stray Souls if i want to start doing broken things and think i can get away with it. Edit: Also - we make a lot of BLACK 2/2s and only play swamps, so one Instant is gone for Gauntlet of Power. With the Consistent mana from that, Caged Sun and the Ghast, and maybe Cabal Coffers if we have the budget, we can change the remaining two Instants for something better. Black Sun's Zenith as a budget board wipe. But Staff of Domination becomes even better. if that breaks the budget the much overlooked Lab Rats comes to mind.
I might have to disagree with you on mill not being the strategy. To trigger the commander we have to cast/unearth/exile stuff from the graveyard so we need to fill that bitch up. There’s a lot of amazing cards in the deck that interact well with having a full graveyard also. Then if I could try to seek you on buried alive it gets scrap trawler and myr retriever in the graveyard and we can definitely win from that position or at least get some crazy value. I like the edition of whip but agin we gotta fill that grave to make it useful. The edict effects work great in the deck definitely adding those. Definitely add cabal if you have the budget but I wouldn’t cut the ghast not only does it double the mana but you can’t overlook the extort triggers we are going to be getting from it. Thank you for the feedback man I appreciate it!!
So the issue with cryptech though Is that he has a white pip in the ex store so you wouldn't be able to play him in this deck it has to be white and black for cryptic to be usable
Extort has the white and black pip in its reminder text but technically it’s not part of the color identity of the card so you can still use him in mono black decks.

I thought you couldn't run a card like crypt ghast in a mono color deck due to the hybrid mana
Sense extort is in the reminder text the color identity is unaffected by it so the cards color identity is mono black

Imoketh as a Tokengenerator
