Groningen - Eemshaven - Borkum (Wadden Sea island) train & ferry from the Netherlands to Germany

- In this video I'll feature the railway station of Groningen, in the Netherlands. After that I'll take the local train to Eemshaven from where you have a great connection to the ferry to Borkum (Germany) in the Wadden Sea. Of course the ferry will be featured as well and on the island of Borkum you'll also find a small railway that will be featured.

Great trip report I really did enjoy the drone views where you can see the groningen station but also the railway line too apart from that the tourist railway on the wadden Sea island looks very historic but it is great if you like old trains or tourism also the ferry views into the North Sea is good and also the beach on the wadden sea island however the weather is not ideal for going to the beach
Hi! Great Video! I just wanted to add that you can buy a ticket for the train individually at the conductor, it’s 2,50€ I think. Borkum is a great Island with a lot of tourists, especially from North Rhine Westfalia, although I never thought it was too crowded.. The Trains, Busses and Ferries are all operated by AG EMS, They also have two expensive but great hotels on the Island, and they also own an airline which flies to Borkum!
It should be noted that the OV-Fiets system is only available to those with Dutch bank accounts, therefore Dutch residents. Perhaps the bike shop rents their own bikes to tourists.

Zo'n leuk treintje zou men ook op Texel moeten bouwen, tussen de ferry, den burg en de koog (bijvoorbeeld), dan komen er misschien minder auto's op het eiland. Het kan een fuel-cell trein zijn, iets dat niet vervuilt.
Minder auto's zou fijner zijn inderdaad. Het verbaast mij toch wel hoevel mensen alsnog hun auto meenemen op deze boot. Het is een minderheid, maar toch. Overigens vind ik dat er op bijvoorbeeld Vlieland, waar alleen bewoners met een auto op komen, best hard wordt gereden.

Nooit geweten dat er op een Duits eiland een spoorlijn was, laat staan een smalspoorlijn! (90 cm breed volgens Wikipedia) Komt er nog een video over de rit Luxemburg - Luik (waar je in de vorige video naar verwees)?
Om sterker te zijn, er zijn meerdere Duitse waddeneilanden met een treintje. De planning voor ny is dat volgende week een video Metz - Luxemburg komt (omdat ik in 2 andere video's waarvan ik nog niet weet wanneer ik die upload naar bepaalde informatie in die video ga verwijzen) en die week daarna Luxemburg- Luik. Ik upload nu om de 8 dagen, omdat we nu iets minder kunnen reizen. Als het goed is komt Luxemburg - Luik dus op 3 september online... maar alles is onder voorbehoud.

@Trainviking kan je Metrolijn B naar Hoek van Holland Haven doen in combinatie met de veerboot van Stena Line naar Station Harwich International?
Die staat ook zeker op de lijst, maar ivm corona niet heel realistisch nu.

Can't wait till they finally rebuild the bridge over the Ems so the connection between Groningen and Leer is operational again for trains. Hopefully with an intercity connection straight to Oldenburg or Bremen.

Ik keek mijn ogen uit naar de werkzaamheden bij station Groningen. Ik ben vanaf maart niet meer op het station geweest omdat ik thuis werk. Blijft een leuk eiland Borkum, je kunt ook met de trein naar het eiland Nordeney. Ook een mooie rit vanaf Groningen.
Warum nehmt ihr nicht einfach die klassische Fährverbindung von Emden nach Borkum ? (Die gibt es schon seit über 120 Jahren) Die Überfahrt dauert zwar doppelt so lange wie von Eemshafen nach Borkum aber man spart sich die umsteigerei mit der Bahn in den Niederlanden.
Einfach weil ich ne Holländer bin und es vielen malen einfacher ist für mich.

Actually, after i uploaded thus video I found out the ferry will be refurbished as well very soon. Pitty i didn't knew this at the moment i edited the video.
