Witnesses at the scene of the crash that killed Diana, Princess of Wales and Dodi Fayed have condemned the behaviour of photographers on Tuesday.
American visitors to Paris Jack and Robin Firestone and their 12-year-old son Brandon arrived by taxi in the tunnel minutes after the Mercedes carrying the Princess crashed and overturned.
They claim press photographers were "swarming" over the car constantly taking photographs.
The Firestones were clearly still shocked at what they had witnessed in the early hours of Sunday morning.
They had unwittingly stumbled on scene of the car crash which killed Princess Diana, Dodi Fayed and their driver.
At first they were unsure of what they were seeing.
    SOUNDBITE:
"Signs of what seemed to be an accident, and a lot of action because there were people in the media, there were motorcycles and a couple of cars seemed to parked alongside the inside wall and then moving back nearer you could see a terrible accident had happened and there were photographers, like, all over the place - swarming - and I was looking at my husband and I said, is this what happens in Paris when you have an accident."

    SOUNDBITE:
"I thought that perhaps it was the French police, forensics department taking photographs very close up photographs of the aftermath of a very grisly accident, the photographers, as my wife said, were literally as close as one could get to the outside exterior of the car to take effective interior pictures."

When the Firestones realised they were press photographers, they were disgusted.
    SOUNDBITE:
    "It was a circus."

    SOUNDBITE:
"Like I said to my husband last night, it was like monkeys on a tree, they couldn't get any closer, it was something like as if the accident had just taken place and I'm thinking to myself - how are these people even in here because there's no traffic moving along in the opposite direction - we're only going this way. Where did they come from was my first reaction,... that's why I was so confused because we just didn't understand why there was so many photographers in there."

    SOUNDBITE:
Q: "And now - what do you think?"
A: "It's absolutely appalling, it's just disgusting. I mean I had a camera on me - but the last thing I would have thought of would have been to take a photograph of anything like this. I didn't and I wouldn't. I just can't understand what drives people to think this is what the world wants to see."

Robin Firestone said she was horrified when she saw a woman's body in the wreckage.
    SOUNDBITE:
"Oh my God, It's a woman. To me it looked like a woman and she looked to be very slumped over, her head like to the side almost over to the front seat of , like where the dash would be - that's with her head near where the windshield would be."
Q: "How close were the photographers?"
A: "Right up to the window."
A: "Ok - if this is the window of the car, they were on like this, right on top of the car, ok? And there's no question that they were journalist because if they were part of the police department you wouldn't have the police pushing them violently away, I mean it was the scene, it was chaotic out there."

It was only afterwards that the family realised they had chanced
on the death of the Princess and Dodi.

She did say where did they all come from. I think there were lots of fake photographers in the tunnel.

We ask governments in all countries to unite the bridge pillars as high as one or two meters so that if a car hits a bridge support, it can still slide not as badly as a car crashes into a bridge pillar so that an accident hitting a pillar like what happened to Princess Dana does not happen again
