How much does Chad run and what is his goal with the running? Any upcoming races in sight? What is his all time favorite shoe? Has Chad always been "big"?
@@alexanders4911Anywhere between 15-35 mpw depending on what I’m training for. Favorite shoe ever is the ASICS Superblast which I wore for my marathon in February. Chad is single handedly costing me more money on my running hobby than any other reviewer. There is a big difference in the way a 220+ muscled up dude impacts than a 175 pounder would. I'm done squish squish squishing around in my NB more V4's. The Boston 12 has spoiled me and I'm getting all Chad's recommendations.

As a Clydesdale, I’m giving the Skyward X my vote for shoe of the year. Going to run Berlin and Chicago in it. Great comfort, plate provides some stability with some pop.
If I could get it in a wide I would probably do a marathon in it as well. It just pinches in on my midfoot a little bit to the point where I don’t think I could handle 26.2 in it.

Similar stats as Chad, 6’4” 275 with a 15, nice to hear about some shoes for us Clydesdales to check out. Ordered the Speed 4 and can’t wait to get out there with it!! Great video.
Great job and well done getting the big guys represented here on your channel. I think we need more of this representation after my experience as a bigger guy following all the running channels. I usually run in roshe runs for most of my outdoor running. I’ve recently switched to the saucony ride 17’s and my life has changed. I use them to run 4-5 miles about 3 times maybe 4 times a week and it has changed my life. I recommend those pair for anyone who has wide feet
Best reviews! Thabks for this. Not as big as Chad but being 6'2" and being anywhere from 212 to 220 (winter weight lol) shoe reviews rarely meet my expectations as experiences vary wildly often. If BITR can get a whole team of bigger dudes, from athletic heavy faster guys to juggernauts to "big boned" dudes would be cool to see how they all compare.
Thanks for this video. I’ve come to realize that all running reviewers are of the smaller variety. Bless them, but too many recommend super soft shoes and when I try them I can barely walk from the instability.
Same here. New balance beacon 3 is my favorite shoe all time and Ive been trying to find something similar since it’s been discontinued. The saucony triumph has been the best I can find.
Is it me, or is Chad looking slimmer and more toned these days. Interesting shoe lineup, I'd like to have a go in the Skyward X and Magmax but my Superblast 2's are just rocking my longer run distances at the moment 👌🏻
As soon as I ran in Skyward X, I immediately ordered another one. Hoka's not known for being consistent across generations of shoes. They hit the jackpot with Skyward X, and I don't trust Hoka to get it right again right away. So I'll stock up while I still can.
If it was a SMIDGE wider in the midfoot, it might go down as one of my favorite shoes ever. That pinch in the midfoot starts to get me around mile 10 or so.
@@chadwzimm If it's that close of a fit for you, I'd look into those specialized lacing methods for your specific situation (google "asics lacing techniques). They really make a big difference.

Recovery days recently have been the More v5 and now the Brooks Glycerin Max. Those are probably my two favorites. Everyday running now is in the Superblast 2 (only about 4 runs into my pair)

Fabulous video And very informative. Being a 200 lb guy, and favorable to lower drop shoes, I’m curious if you have ever tried Topo product and if you did how did you find them.
Man, you gotta go back and follow my stuff! I’m a certified Topo guy! Phantom 3 and Atmos both made my list of best shoes in 2023, and the Specter 2 that just came out is a winner, too. Love the 5mm drop; 4mm to 6mm is ideal for me.
Looking at the comments on skyward X, maybe i should get another pair and give them another try. I purchased a pair, went for a 5km run and my ankles and Achilles were killing me for days, i found it to be a very unstable shoe and sold them the same day. Maybe i should have tried a few more runs and given them a chance. I’m also using SC trainer V3 and to be honest I’m still trying to get used to them. They feel great if I’m up on my mid/fore foot but after a few miles and i get tired and land on my heel then they are unstable as hell on corners. Not giving up on them though. Love seeing the Clydesdale reviews but my bank doesn’t 😂
I would like a lot to see more on your running habits. How much you run? What are your pbs? How much did you run in the shoes so you can recommend? Since those are missing, I can easily clasify your ideas as a nicely packaged publicity with zero experience.
You can follow me on Strava. I’ve run two marathons, several half marathons (including yesterday), and several shorter races. My PBs are 4:58 for the marathon, 2:09 for the half, 1:36 for a 10 miler, 56:xx for a 10k and 26:xx for a 5k. I run anywhere between 15 miles per week and 35 miles per week, depending on what I’m training for. That all said, thanks for watching, even if you don’t find my credentials worthwhile.
@@chadwzimm now I find them worthwhile and even relevant to me. Sorry if it sounded harsh - I personally need more of an argument than "i am as heavy as you". We leave in a world with a ton of information. I personally do not have the time to follow on strava. And I have no idea what your site is. I choose youtube as a way to learn and I am trying to find ways to get the better value of each review. So I try and match the reviewer with myself. Say that your colleague recommends a shoe for easy long runs, as he finds it very good for his easy long runs. But his easy runs are at 4 mins/km. I am dead in 500 meters at that pace. You do not need a full history to make your presentation better. There is a guy Ben that says: "hi, I am Ben. A 2:24 marathoner". That says it all for me - most pbs in Romania are at ~2:20. Adding 10 secs on each video to say a little about yourself will help a lot, in my opinion. I took the time to write this because I liked your post. Your choices do not fit mine 100%, but close. Maybe hopefully this long comment helps. Thank you for the clip!
@@dorins3787 Not a problem! I understand that context is important, and making sure the information you’re getting is qualified and knowledgeable, especially in today’s world where there’s so much info out there.
It really depends. The way shoes are constructed these days, if the outsole is good then I could see getting similar mileage. However, it’s more likely that a bouncy foam will deaden before you wreck and outsole.
Chad, what width of shoe do you go for? I love the content and show picks but unfortunately I can't do narrow shoes at all. I'm just 2e width. Normal crazy. Unfortunately a lot of the picks have limited widths.
Adidas Prime X Strung 2 should be incouded. The only shoe with 2 plates, built to go 700km+ (and counting) and im 230lbs. The plate in my NB Supercomp Trainer 2 started making a popping noise after 100km btw and i retired 4 x Asics Nimbus 25 at 450km due to holes or achy joints
So if you watch my previous videos, I am a big proponent of the Prime X 2 Strung, but this is a video of 2024 releases. I think the PX2S is a great shoe for bigger runners!
I gotta admit i never understood why people want a lightweight daily trainer. If you train in a heavier shoe and then race in a feather weight shoe the difference is more noticeable than training in a lightweight shoe and racing in a lightweight shoe. Just my thoughts. Give me a comfort and performance at wjateber weight cost for daily miles means ill just het stronger while being protected from injury. All else being equal that is, a traini g your body to swing a heavier weight vs lighter weight doesnt seem to be a negative in my eyes.

Im 200 lbs, got SC elite v4 as my first super shoe and for some reason they make my left ankle pronate and not stable. Im not used to super foamy shoes, anyone have this issue?
Not really. The only brand that I think I could get away with a wide is Hoka. Everything else would be too wide for me, especially for my slightly narrow right heel.
In terms of traditional “race day” super shoes, you’re not going to find much larger than size 14 (Hoka, Puma, Saucony, Nike). Truth be told, I don’t know what shoes come in 16. I know some ASICS, Hoka, and Brooks models go up to size 15.
@@chadwzimm Yeah I am kind of stuck with the New Balance shoes - 1080s were too soft for a marathon. rebel v2 and v3 have done okay, but not enough under the forefoot for the distance. Between trying to v4 and balos for the next marathon.

6”4 220. With narrow size 13’s have struggled with shoes!
Chad should start doing a “ Between Two Shoes” as well.
Sounds like a good idea to me!
All of my stuff is on my bio on the Believe in the Run website.
Get this guy on more reviews. Also do you see that shoes don't last as long mileage wise?
It really depends. The way shoes are constructed these days, if the outsole is good then I could see getting similar mileage. However, it’s more likely that a bouncy foam will deaden before you wreck and outsole.
I am bigger and am pretty sure the midsole foams pack down faster than lighter runners who put less force into the shoe experience.
My people!
Chad, what width of shoe do you go for? I love the content and show picks but unfortunately I can't do narrow shoes at all. I'm just 2e width. Normal crazy. Unfortunately a lot of the picks have limited widths.
So I can typically run in most normal (D) width shoes. Some brands like Hoka, Puma, and Nike run a bit more narrow and I could probably handle a wide.
That was on last years list. This is 2024’s
I see, well done. I try to watch all of the big dudes episodes but either missed or forgot that one
I think Believe in the Run needs a team of Clydesdale’s. I’m 6’4, 230 llbs 😊
Agreed 👍 there are a lot of runners who are men in the 180s-220s lb range and 6 foot or over and Chad gets us :-)
surprised the magmax is not here
He need to do a review on the magmax ASAP!!!!
I don’t think Chad has run in it. It is a great one though.
Unfortunately I didn’t get the MagMax; maybe Santa will hook me up this holiday season.
How is the Hoka Skyward’s toebox? Does it cater to 2E wide?
Hoka as a brand tends to run a bit narrow. I have a very regular width foot and the midfoot and forefoot are snug on me.
Damn never been this early
I gotta admit i never understood why people want a lightweight daily trainer. If you train in a heavier shoe and then race in a feather weight shoe the difference is more noticeable than training in a lightweight shoe and racing in a lightweight shoe. Just my thoughts. Give me a comfort and performance at wjateber weight cost for daily miles means ill just het stronger while being protected from injury. All else being equal that is, a traini g your body to swing a heavier weight vs lighter weight doesnt seem to be a negative in my eyes.
What is chads last name. I want to keep up with him on Strava. He is exactly like me but I’m 230
Here ya go!
@@chadwzimm dude your the man! Thanks bro. I over pronate on right foot a little, size 12, 230 lb 4:07 marathon. So keep your videos coming because it applies to me. Going to try sky Paris soon. Thanks man!
Don’t the ASICS Paris Edge & Sky run a bit narrow in the forefoot / toe box? Many bigger runners may have wide feet, given their bigger body frames.
Holy freaking crap I'm 6'2" and 230, my gd hero
Im 200 lbs, got SC elite v4 as my first super shoe and for some reason they make my left ankle pronate and not stable. Im not used to super foamy shoes, anyone have this issue?
what running trainers best for underpronation
Is 6'1" 205lbs. closer in size to Chad or Thomas?
Chad 275 lb, Thomas 173 lb
Sort of an in between.
Try finding one being the same height and size but needing at least a 4e or 6e size in width
I've heard the 1080v13 is not good for heavier runners. But I hear the v14 is firmer.
1080v14 is arguably my favorite standard daily trainer right now and is for me, an upgrade from the v13. Firmer and more stable.
@@chadwzimm The word firm scares me away, a bit.
@@filoIII It’s more responsive, less soft and squishy. Firmer in that sense.
Do another review but this time with Robbe standing next to Chad.
I think Robbe on one side and Meg on the other. Karl will have a hard time keeping us all in frame.
Would have to shoot the video from the opposite end zone of a football field
I’m 6’0 on my best days and 190 lbs cruiserweight gang unite
Don't you need wide fit in your shoes?
Not really. The only brand that I think I could get away with a wide is Hoka. Everything else would be too wide for me, especially for my slightly narrow right heel.
Please help me find the best race day shoe that comes in mens US 16
In terms of traditional “race day” super shoes, you’re not going to find much larger than size 14 (Hoka, Puma, Saucony, Nike).
@@ThirstyPups The Balos might be a decent option of the SC Elite v4 of it comes that big. Also, you might like the new 1080 which should be out…shortly.
Finally a real man 😂
I wish y’all had a heavy runner with a size 14-15w foot…. Where could all find such a person???
What are Tchads stats in cm and kg? Everything proportional on him? 😉
Google that
And the Architects shirt? Let's be freinds.
You know where to find me! Come to a BITR event in Baltimore and there’s a good chance I’ll be there.
190 cm and 124 kilos....damn !
As a heavier runner myself, I bottom out Metaspeed heels just by walking...
Yeah, that foam is soft, but once I get running and start hitting faster paces and land more in the midfoot/forefoot, that’s not so much of an issue.
What are Thomas stats?❤
6’ 173 lb
@@Believeintherundef hunk material ❤
ARCHITECTS!
I knew some people would appreciate the shirt.
Appreciate the video as well, as I am a heavier runner.
Good album too
I’d like to see a blind test where you have to run 5 miles and come back say which you like best.
Might be dangerous…I love it!
@@chadwzimm lol probably just cover the shoes instead of your eyes lol covering your eyes would definitely be entertaining.😂or wear those basketball glasses where you can’t look down.
For some reason Chad makes Thomas rather small standing side by side lol
The reason is Chad is large.
@@Believeintherun Not x large?
Aren’t we talking about heavier? Or does bigger stand for heavier and not taller?
Where is Hermes?
That dude is booked solid. He’ll come back some day
ja sorry we dont do that "type" : but very american...
TYR--New into shoes, $170. NO thx.
They might be new to running shoes, but they did a great job on their first attempt.
