I think when he went up the zip he saw his builds and also unlooted chest and full hp rock so assumed he slid down, and while sliding didnt see him around so assumed he was hiding behind a tree which is normal. But to guess the exact tree is wild out of the 4.

Im jus sayin in that situation it couldve been game sense since there were like 4 trees and he didnt hear a void, but he was aiming at the tree before he could hear or even see him. regardless, jus seems like a wild play
