  • We are making Turkish-style green bean stew with ground beef "Etli Taze Fasülye" We have beautiful varieties of green beans coming to the markets during the spring and summertime in Turkey. It is a typical daily dish in Turkish cuisine, along with green beans in olive oil and tomatoes, stews, and more.
Ingredients for Turkish Style Green Beans:
To make it vegetarian, simply omit using ground beef and continue with the other steps
    1 kg fresh green beans
    1 medium or big onion
    250gr. ground beef
    2-3 sweet green peppers
    4-5 cloves of garlic
1-2 preferably ripened tomatoes (if not the season, use canned puréd or crushed tomatoes or only use tomato paste
    1 tbsp tomato paste
1/2 tbsp red pepper paste (optional)
    1 tsp or more salt
    hot boiling water
    2 medium-size potatoes (optional)

Clean, healthy, colourful and delicious I guess.
We Arabs have derived a lot of cooking recipes and techniques of our Turkish brothers, since ottoman empire age. And we have given to them as well...the idea of stew with aside dish of rice, in our cuisine is definitely taken from Turkish❤️

OMG...I'm from Argentina, living in the US 62 out of 64 of my years. I've eaten this since a child! Now I add cumin, turmeric, coriander, oregano, lots of smokey paprika, and cinnamon when cooking the meat. I no longer use potatoes. Instead cauliflower. No pepper paste, because we could never find it, and mom wasn't about to make it herself. I wonder how this exact dish came to Argentina. Food, and also language, binds us as humans. Thank you for your videos. They're a source of joy and also hunger 😅.

Here, in Greece, we make the beans exactly like you do, but without the ground beef. Of course, this is a big difference, and I have already made your recipe. Far better taste than the other version. We call this type of green beans " barbounia " and we have many other types, but this one is the best, in my opinion. May you always be healthy and happy and create beautiful dishes for you and your beloved.😊Greetings from Athens,Greece. 😊

Hi! I lived in Turkey for a couple of years & was blown away by the beauty of the country, the hospitality of the people and, of course, the fabulous cuisine, which I consider to be one of the tastiest in the world. I miss it so so much. All of it. So happy to have found your channel. I plan to try out some of your recipes very soon. Please could you do a video & recipes on a quick & easy Turkish mezze platter, and or/ guide on a full course Turkish meal. Thank you so much. And keep up the fabulous content. So well explained. Çok teşekkür ederim!

This recipe, like all of your recipes, looks delicious. I've been following your UA-cam for some time. You are always an inspiration. The summer garden is just starting here (in Missouri, USA). Your recipe gives me lots of ideas to cook the vegetables I am growing, and inspires me to try new ones. I appreciate how you add tips about altering the recipe and using ingredients already harvested. For example, chopping and freezing the peppers. Thank You for all your posts, Julie West

My Italian Grandparents called these fagioli regine, but here in the US we called them pole beans. I grew up on a farm and we had a big vegetable garden. The thin green beans grew on bushy plants and were called bush beans but the larger flat beans, grew on vines and needed poles for them to climb.

we make it the same way except for the green peppers. when we cook the beans without any meat, we add much more olive oil and plenty of parsley. i personally leave it without so much juice at the end. its one of my favorite vegetable dishes. we call them freska fasolakia and we grow them in our vegetable garden every summer along with all our other vegetables. now i will have to try them with green peppers also.

I just know the Afrikaans name "boerboontjies"!😀 Ordinary green beans we normally find fresh or frozen in supermarkets are too young and therefore do not have the same flavour. This stew is similar to our traditional South African "boontjiebredie" with onion, mutton, beans, potatoes, and spices like nutmeg/cloves, or sometimes with a curry mix. Afiyet olsun! 🌷
