I have plowed with every tractor out there over the years. Makes me happy to see this. I still plow 1000 acres a year with a 10 bottom Deere and 435 Quadtrac.
Agreed, plowing sand isn't. But this field looks much richer in nutrients, and probably should be plowed after harvest. No matter what, if you don't plow, the ground is going to be frosted over when you go to cultivate in the spring. I had to cultivate permafrost once. It slows you down and you have to cultivate it twice to get the ground properly broken up. In my opinion, plowing is always beneficial. I see what you're saying though.
Indeed, but if you have the right equipment for the job, farming in Australia isn't as bad as some people think. At least not in some parts of the country.
im so glad im not the only one who still believes in moldboard plowing!

You use cultivators to ready the soil for planting and to remove weeds when they start to grow. You use plows to turn over the soil after harvest.

do any farmers use reversible ploughs in the States?
marksandsparks1 not really. Maybe a few
Nothing beats the look of the Classic green Steiger! Wouldnt say the same about the junk they are pulling in this clip.
A field that size, I would plow it around and around. Get better use out of those three. That's roughly 50 feet at a time.
Dalby region?
we plow 500 acres with our case ih 11 bottom and steiger st310
we plow with 2 6 bottoms and a 5 bottom. pull em with 4630fwd, 4640 and 4430
