- Canada Russia Hockey Fight
• The "Punch-up in Piestany" erupted halfway through the final game of the 1987 world junior hockey championship. Canada was assured a medal, and would have moved ahead of Finland for the gold if they had beaten the Soviets by at least five goals.
• The blow-up began as a fight between Pavel Kostichkin and Theoren Fleury. Four Soviet players left their bench to join the brawl, and then all the players on both teams swarmed onto the ice.
As a Canadian I’m proud to say our country contributed physically the most in the Cold War
Usa,vietnam, and both koreas: Are we joke to you?
@@shadowman8535 Look how Canadians come up from behind and hit from behind! from behind! Are these heroes? Fuck you! This is CHMO!
@@shadowman8535yes yall are actually. Not just to Canadians but the world
@@lolfu6492 They are indeed but you should learn what is a joke
Canada and USSR were disqualified. The gold medal ultimately went to Finland, which had the best win/loss record in the tournament. Czechoslovakia took the silver and Sweden was awarded the bronze. AS FINN I CHEER THIS.
As a Swede, I do to.
As a Canadian, so do I
You only won because we were disqualified
@@Themapleleaforevernah really?
@@Themapleleaforever thanks genius
Back when Hockey was fun in Canada...
And thats for all folks... legendary game.
The goalies are so funny. First they are wrestling around on the ice...
Next time the camera goes to them they are looking around like "we still fighting? Oh yeah, ok let's keep fighting"
Then next time the camera goes to them they are casually just standing beside eachother 😅
I´m just gonna say it: it´s absolutely beautiful!!!
My dad told me that Canada had a military escort.
Wow! this was the real life "Slapshot"! I wonder if the Canadians had their own version of the Hanson brothers!
It's all fun and games with Canada until you enter Hockey arena
Ngl we fought with the USSR more then the Americans did lol.
“It’s pandemonium here” 😂😂😂
I remember my Grandpa telling me about this in the early 90's LOL GO Canada
Go cccp
Canada whooped those fools 😂
Don't mess with the boys, they'll crank ya one.
Canada is stupid
GO.russia
My father who is from Kazakhstan told me about this back in the day
Actually soviet players never fought before this. They didn't know the hockey is also fighting.
So if you think they lost the fight, don't forget that was the first ever ice fight for many of them.
only scum like you think that this is the norm, for you Anglo-Saxons this is a show, but soon our show will give you more pleasure
Youre right, this was the series that taught them ruskies REAL hockey.
Excuses
Talk about a cold war...

They took “ it’s a yard sale out there” to another level
Did Turgeon film this?
this is where the Russians learned how to fight in a hockey game!
"I'm looking over at the bench for some help...and there's this dog..."
You think they would be better at it then.🤣🤣🤣🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
This was the og worldstar
3:10 these guys don’t know if they should fight or hold hands
it was a long time ago but for some reason I remember that the Soviets just packed there shit from the locker room, got on there bus, drove to the airport and flew home.
I guess fighting wasn't part of the sport in hockey during the USSR-period?
The USSR-kids looked shocked....... but the Canadians were just like; ---"Yeah...whatever!"
@@bubbatoonday9099 ....oh no....your talking about the pinnacle of fighting in hockey during the 80's.....it was just that generally no one ever played the soviets except things like the Olympics and tournaments like this....and as a kid, I always got excited when the CCCP jerseys were on the ice cause those guys were monsters
they just weren't used to getting a bench clearing brawl and a rather one sided beat down
this was a big thing ( at least were I lived as a kid ) cause the soviets were always really good and in this instance they not only were shellacked on the scoreboard but also in the punches to the face column as well
This was Russia finally losing it. Their boys weren't being fed by their coaches as punishment for losing their last game, there were no medals left for them to win, so this game didn't mean fuck-all to them.
It's a legendary moment in the history of hockey.
are you a jerk?
Only timed I have ever cheered for Canada.
