The main vocalist is the sub rapper of the group, Jungkook even replace RM in a live show. "We're bulletproof pt 2" song is iconic
the hip hop elements still exists in their b-sides. I think that’s one of the things that separates them from majority kpop. Also, the fact that they put SO MUCH effort in their album side tracks and album sequencing is very impressive. A lot of the kpop groups focus only on the “title tracks” to prepare huge performance. And the fact that RM and SUGA are originally rappers and J-HOPE trained hard to be a rapper is impressive because usually in kpop groups the member who isn’t too good at singing is given the rapping part. That’s why I love BTS.

BTS were good since the beginning and No More Dream is their debut song. People saw their potential and that why they got so much hate, sabotage & criticisms coz they were a threat to other kpop groups. Thankfully they are now above and beyond kpop. They're in a league of their own 🥰

The first time I heard this song I really fell in love like how can they create a song like this when they first debuted?? This song tells teenager to question their own dreams. Like telling them what are your true dreams? not your parents dreams or what society tells you to be the mainstream dreams. and i like that. Their genres expanded throughout their careers but their sole messages never changes from the beginning - speaking for under-presented people. They dont just use hiphop to talk about girls and this hiphop life, but questioning and judging society THROUGH THEIR DEBUT SONG.
They were supposed to be a hip hop group but later they continued as idols when their diversity in music expanded way much which needed much space to fit in.

Hey Anthony, glad you found this. In the early days, Jungkook (their youngest member) also rapped quite a bit. You may want to check out their LIVE performances of Hiphop Phile (2014) and BORN SINGER, their ‘cover’ of J Cole’s Born Sinner (very emotional stage from 2015, and also 2017). These 2 songs will show you again how their roots are absolutely hiphop.

BTS really was intended to be a rap group with RM joining bighit first, then they did a rap audition which Suga didn't win, he came in 2nd but joined the group regardless. RM and Suga being the oldest have been doing music together for 11 years now. J-hope came after that. Then bighit decided to make them into a hiphop group. So they brought in rapline slowly. Jimin joined the group like 6 months before debut and was almost kicked out 10+ or so times. The last one being a day before their debut. But they debuted as a 7 member group out of the 9 trainees who were being considered back then, others left before debut.
PS: No More Dream has a subtitled video but you have to find it in the Hybe BTS playlist. There are 4 No More Dream videos, two are subtitled but has the least views of the four bc they don't show up on searching. When you search the first one up is the official non-subtitled video, if you scroll down a little you may find one with old BTS logo with chrome colored bg and No More Dream written on it. That one is subtitled. 💜

So going by the title of this vid I don't entirely know how much you know about BTS and their founding but they were originally supposed to be a hip-hop/rap group but that later changed when they added vocalists and dancers to the debut line-up. Not to mention that the first two members RM/Namjoon and Suga/Yoongi were underground rappers prior to joining BH and were both pretty well known in the underground scene, especially RM. Both RM and Suga had experience writing/composing and producing prior to debut and since their debut have contributed in some way to all their albums. It's commonplace to see Suga, RM, and J-hope in the song credits and we have been seeing more and more of the vocal line recently as well. BTS's foundation was very much built on hip-hop and a significant amount of their older discography is largely hip-hop-inspired but they did experiment back then just as much as they do now. Hip-hop is, has, and always will be an instrumental part of BTS's identity and sound.

You should do an album listening party to one of their old skool early albums. Their second album "O RU L8 2" is ALL Rap and R&B and remains one of my favorite BTS Albums. BTS has grown but they had it all right out of the box. ARMY saw it and knew it. It just took everyone else longer to find out their amazing talent and genius. 💜

4:16 YESsss that is a 15 year old rapper jungkook! The main vocalist , sub rapper, lead dancer and “center” of performances… I wish he got to rap more… rapper jK is highly requested lol he’s got great flow and annunciation especially in the highest position for vocalists too and being the youngest member who the closest member in age to him is 2 years older than him. Takes on a lot of responsibility in his roles. Jungkook auditioned for a South Korean talent show and didn’t get picked… however he was seen by companies and 7 reached out to him to bring into their programs… including one of the big 3 companies that have all the money and power… ppl wondered why out of those 7… would he choose bighit considering they had only had two idols at that time and I think his company was less than 5 years old so it was super small and new…. But jungkook saw a video video of “RM” and was amazed… and wanted to join his company… so it’s exactly what he did lol he’s always been an RM fanboy and looks up to RM so much… it’s cute… RM respects jungkook for being their top vocalist and center bc he’s got so many parts and always a focus in performances… that’s a lot for a little dude. Anyway having these guys to learn to rap from… he def showed some skills. I miss his rapping!

It's a better English translation if you search No More Dream with English Subtitles. I've noticed that the auto generated feature gives a totally different translation than the song's intent.
In the song they're really talking about everyone doing their dream instead of fitting into societal expectations. They're also saying not to judge them if they're not doing their own dream. That's why they sing or rap the line, "You're such a liar".

Crazy right?!? Here's my take on BTS' career, now they can do whatever they want, take their music in whatever direction they like because they were introduced with such grit. No matter how many "haters" or critics they have, they attacked them with their music and that alone can shut all the haters down. They continue to meet the unexpected and that what makes them great. Probably the greatest in a long time. If you listen to their more "poppy" songs, you can hear the hip-hop influences through instrumentation, beats, and lyricism. And this is me talking after learning about BTS in just 1 year. I was a sceptic when they became really big back in 2017 but after listening to their songs, they are truly legendary. Please react to their live performances. The way they bring their songs to life is beyond amazing. Looking forward to it!

You should really watch one of the guides for BTS to learn more about them and how they started. The best one for you I would suggest is The Most Beautiful Life Goes On: Story Of BTS by Asian Theory. Suga and RM were underground rappers before BTS and JHope didn't rap until he joined BTS. All three have solo mixtapes, and all three are producers and writers. They all have done solo projects. The singers are just as talented as the rappers. I have never seen anything like BTS and I doubt I ever will. I really like how much you enjoy BTS. Thank you for your reactions 💜💜💜

Where you thought they were saying "money", the line in the chorus is actually "yamma ni ggeumeun mwoni (mwoni)". Translated it means "what is your dream?"/ "what are your dreams?".
