It amazes me how far it has come. It was not terrible but not good either when it was nick, wildes, the football player and jenna as the host. really took off when brou came on. brou is great but it kinda goes to show that it isnt just the personalities but also the mix thereof. now it is easily my favourite of the debate and sports shows

Since undisputed left, I’ve been watching/listening to first things first everyday. Safe to say FS1 is in good hands with these guys.. miss skip and Shannon but then getting an hour now makes it less painful😅
With all the Dame discussion over the past few weeks I have to say how pleasantly surprised I am to see so many comments from Portland fans who wish Dame the best. Who encourage him to leave and understand what he's done for their team and city but also realize how the team has let him down and want him to move on and have a great end of his career (and many note they hoped the same things for Clyde and were thrilled when he won a ring with Houston). It's been nice seeing and reading those comments.
Really shouldn't be surprised. I mean it's best for both Dame and the team to move on. Literally nobody benefits from Dame staying in Portland except the meaningless loyalty image.
Tbf a lot of Blazers fans turned on Clyde over time. But as long as Dame stays grateful for his time on the Blazers, we would all love to see him go somewhere (just not Miami, pls) and win

Blazers don't seem to have a budget for more than one superstar. They're happy with Dame. Dame, who gives them 150% every single game, is happy in Oregon with his family. His family is his priority. It's up to Portland to bring in the pieces for a possible championship team

After living in Portland and following this team for four decades, I can say that the front office here has never be accused of giving us any semblance of transparency.🙄🙄 We live in a small market and never take advantage of the top pick when we get it. No rookie will develop with a veteran superstar as a 1st option. If they want to take a chance with Scoot, Dame has to take a step back. I don't think Dame would want that. Also, Dame can't afford to wait for Scoot to develop into a star and that is if he will anyway.

If you guys actually paid attention to what is happening in Portland - Cronin stated that they worked on deals that weren’t necessarily tied to the draft. There is no chance that they didn’t share those plans with Lillard. He is going to wait and see if they can execute any of those potential trades. If they do, he stays for now. If they don’t, he gets traded by the trade deadline. He isn’t demanding a trade publicly because they have a private understanding, one way or the other.

The 4 most important players in Portland are all guards, and all of them are primarily point guards. Also, 3 of them are 6'3 or shorter. Their 2nd best player and the only one that plays defense is a free agent, your best big man is injury prone.
This roster is awful. It's just not built properly. And as Nick well said, they're probably the furthest away from a championship in the West.

Lillard will probably start with the Blazers, be 10 games under .500 and then sit out a few weeks before the trade deadline and request his trade. He wants his image to be squeaky clean, so he won't demand a trade this summer.

But let’s be real. Does dame really have it that bad.
If it’s championship or bust for him in Portland then you gotta factor in this. The only way that dame goes to a “better situation” is if he’s a conference or nba finals contender every year until his contract expires.
That’s basically what it comes down to. Because if he isn’t then no where he goes offers him more value than where he’s already at
He’s on a team where he’s planted his roots. That’s where his family is. He’s beloved there. He has 3 young studs on his roster who have enormous upside. He’s making great money. The team how ways to keep improving.
I’m not saying they are front runners but whose to say that if Simons sharpe and scoot all grow leaps and bounds this year that they aren’t in a position to compete soon.
Outside of Nuggets the west is kinda wide open. And teams are getting expensive. Who knows who will be available to compliment this young core. In time you may be able to swap nurkic contract for a more expensive one whose a better player just because someone is cutting costs.
Again... the media is trying so hard to get dame to another team. But that scenario is only better if the new team is a shoe in to be a top 4 team.
You gotta remember that whoever he’s traded to is gonna give up a lot to get him. Thus hurting his chances. Does he really wanna play on a new team with a superstar if they have no supporting cast. Is Philly really that good with just lillard and Embiid. Even harden too. Idk. Does harden and dame even fit together. You gonna have to give up maxey and other pieces to get him.
And the best places he could go don’t even offer the blazers the best packages. Maxey and 2 picks isn’t that great for dame. Herro and picks. Come on now. Why would you wanna go to Brooklyn. You’ll be in a worse situation than in Portland. Every one of your young prospects has more upside than bridges. Brooklyn isn’t even that close and if you do the trade you’re sending back a lot of talent.
Boston makes the most sense for Jaylen but he doesn’t want to go to Boston.
If I’m dame doesn’t want to go to Boston then just stay in Portland.

I’ll probably be bad one more season as my young guys grow. Then I’ll draft again. In the top 5 and hit the ground running next year after I draft a high upside center or forward.

I actually think people are overlooking how good of a fit Draymond is in Miami. He personifies Heat culture.
Heat and Warriors almost have the same system and culture. They've been to the Finals twice and 3x in the ECF in the past 5 years. The only thing missing with the Heat to take the next level is a legit superstar.

Why do people think Draymond is so valuable? He’s old and regressing on offense. He’s getting slower and he’s already undersized. He’s annoying to a lot of people, so his “leadership” qualities might not translate well outside of Golden State. And there have always been serious questions about whether his skillset would translate well outside Golden State.
People like him because of his defense? You can find a 3-and-D guy who is much cheaper, understands his role, and actually makes shots. I legitimately think he’s one of the least valuable players in the league when you factor in how much he costs. His only current value comes from the fact that a superstar (Steph) loves him so much, that trading him might hurt Steph’s happiness and motivation.
