- Arnold Schwarzenegger movies have taught us all invaluable lessons, and the movie Predator is no exception. When the day comes where we make contact with other life forms, if we do anything other than immediately destroy them and everything they hold dear then we are failing our children and there will be no future. And if I'm wrong? Oh well. At least we got to blow stuff up.

‘Predator’ is probably one of the most close to perfection action movies ever made.
When you say close to perfection, you mean it overran perfection to become superfection.
It can barely look old even.
This is truly one of the masterpieces of all time. Its quite watchable even today. The predator itself looks way more lifelike than most CGI shit today!

"Close" to perfetion, agreed. When Arnold and the Predator are the only ones left in the jungle, it drags a tiny little bit. Aliens' final battle, drags even more. T2, schmaltzy father-son fluff.
Die Hard is as perfect as action pacing can get.

The fact that VanDamme was in the movie and bowed out to go dance at the Thai bar would have been the perfect explanation. Can't believe Space Ice missed that opportunity
@@HKBuilderDIY Van Damme got into the costume, and it teleported him straight to Thai bar for some R&R. After roughly 4 months of good rest Van Damme was teleported back into the costume to learn, that movie was already shot! Talking about embarassing.
Van Damme was in the movie and shot few scenes before quitting!
The helicopter pilot in the end is the guy that played in the predator costume

We used to rent VCRs when I was a kid, we'd go get a VCR and five movies for the weekend for like $10. Predator, robocop, the road warrior, or terminator. One of those was always my choice

The 4K blu-ray is stunning. The best Predator has ever looked. Way better than that wax version ultimate hunter edition blu.
It was heartbreaking when the predator vhs was always rented at videoland pizza. Finally it wasn't rented one day and it was awesome.

Commando is one of my favorite comedies!
I remember seeing this movie in theaters when I was a kid and it was the first time I saw the faces of so many grown men trying to hide the tension and fear they were feeling as they watched for the first time a bunch of guys who were more than likely bigger and stronger than them, get taken out in such brutal ways by something that was bigger, stronger and had better weapons than them and there was absolutely nothing they could do about it. I believe PREDATOR was the first movie to put fear into the hearts of men everywhere.
I didn't see any of that. I couldn't peel my eyes off the screen.
I gotta say that one scene where they shoot the jungle, and poncho comes back and says the iconic "we hit nothing" is equivalent to the famous jaws "you're gonna need a bigger boat" line. Amazing.
And Roy Sheider 100% adlibbed that line in Jaws.
The Predator's face reveal is one of the best moments in movie history. The mask makes him badass enough, but his real face is second form boss level shit like no other.
The skunk bit had my crying laughing. Couldnt stop rewatching it over and over :D

I always knew the skunk was the real villain. The Predator itself was unfortunately a victim of bad circumstance. I've been preaching this for years only to be made fun by my friends who would taunt me endlessly. I was going to end my life. You saved my life Space Ice. You see people, Space Ice is saving lives!
I can confirm that the skunk is the greatest threat against humans who are not infected by COVID .
theres a prequel where the skunk actually defeats the predator in 1v1, which causes him to go after arnold's squad instead.

This is unfair to Space Ice, since that's not exactly an high bar to clear. I can tolerate Predator 2 because of how hilarious it is sometimes (Scorpio is readyyyyyy) and because the Predator tech and gadgets were absolutely top notch, but everything after that was worthless, including the last one with the feminist Indian.

My parents let me watch this when I was five, maybe six, years old. I've been disappointed by every movie I've seen since then because how can anything compare to Predator? Best movie ever.

My whole family went to see this in the theater when I was seven. I was kind of sick, and I remember having to leave my seat to throw up in a garbage can right at the end when the Predator self destructs. I came back in when the helicopter lands and Arnold is just standing there amidst all the destruction. Then I went to the hospital afterwards 😆 Couldn’t miss the end to such an awesome movie!
I am so glad that Arnold and his team saved the village. It looked so much better, more efficient after they were done.
The Arnold Schwarzenegger movie for the budget conscious. You get an amazing action movie AND a fantastic horror movie at the same time.

From Vandamme bowing out of the project to having to revise the look of the predator, this is one of those few movies that benefited greatly from the series of setbacks behind the scenes. I can only imagine this movie would have looked like one of those Scifi original if the original plans for the movie went ahead without a hitch. No offense to Vandamme but it's hard to imagine a giant roach like creature doing split kicks in the air...
Or the Pred going to a bar in Thailand 😂
One of my best friends and I always loved and re-enacted the scene where Arnold and Carl Weathers greet each other to basically just flex and bust balls. This movie will never get old.

I absolutely love the humour of this channel. Its hard in this day and age to approach something fresh but the balls to the walls attitude of the jokes is perfect. Dont change a thing. Unless you're in a bar in Thailand and feel threatened by the local dance police.
11:14 Fun fact, the helicopter pilot in this scene is the actual actor who suited up and played the Predator. Prior to that, Jean Claude Van Damme was hired to wear a suit to be the original Predator, but the suit was horrible and they fired him and hired this very tall actor and had a different artist do a different predator suit.

Little-known fact - Jean-Claude Van Damme actually did play the Predator in this movie. While he knew he could have easily fought Arnold to a stalemate, he didn't want to shunt his career before he made Terminator 2 and Twins, so instead of destroying Arnold's career with alien spin kicks, he blew up the entire Amazon, which was much less devastating. Also, neither died in the explosion. JCVD had to fake his death in order to rush out of there and handle some very important business in Thailand.

I remember being 4 years old and my father paying a beer to the cinema guy who sold the tickets, just so he could let me in ( movie was 12+).
Back then, after a few minutes, a ticket man would show up and ask you for your ticket, like they do or used to do in busses, etc. My father would tell me to hide below the seat until he left. I was so small that i fit there no problem haha

My favourite thing about this film (and there are a lot!) is that they're a on a covert special forces mission and they roll in with a mini-gun, machine guns, explosives and grenade launches...and proceed to use them constantly! It might be the least subtle or covert special forces mission in history. Also, after they've expended all their ammunition shooting at nothing in the jungle, how exactly do they expect to get back after probably alerting every armed force in the country and the neighbouring four too and now having nothing to defend themselves with except quips and puns?
The mission was blown. The hostages were dead, so they had to scorch Earth.
