I live in the midwest, Missouri to be exact. It hurts my heart to use plastic bags at stores however when there's only a Walmart and an Aldi, then it's hard to deviate from it. I've started going to Aldi and taking reusable bags with me but when I have to get the beauty essentials like shampoo, other stores don't actually allow you to bring in a reusable bag in case of theft. It's actually the worst thing about our grocery store set up and I would seriously consider implementing a tax on bags like California has done. It is annoying to those that don't care but if they care enough, they'll start bringing their own bags

In Los Angeles they definitely don't laugh at you if you take your own bags, you actually get looked down on if you don't. In fact if you want a paper or plastic bag from the store they CHARGE you for it and some have done away with bags all together. In LA everyone is heavily encouraged to use resusable bags.
