@@Kokopilau77 I don't think he regrets how he treats his father, he stayed with him when his dad drove the nurse away, but rather the genuine pain of growing up surrounded by people like his parents
Firebrand - I wonder if there was Colonial equivalent program like “All Creatures Great and Small”....with a Caprican Veterinarian practicing in the ‘Aerilon Dales’...
This scene becomes all the more powerful when you live in a real life Aerilon and when real life Caprica is just an hour away. So close you can almost reach it.
"Planet Yorkshire" Oh you guys crack me up. Could you imagine that planet? There's a hilarious line from The Mighty Boosh: Yorkshire is a place, Yorkshire is a state of mind.
It certainly had a wonderful mix of established actors (Mary McDonnell, Edward James Olmos, Dean Stockwell), actors who are starting to make a name for themselves (James Callis and Jaime Bamber for example) and new talent (Tricia Helfer and Grace Park).
Americans don't realise how funny this British in-joke is. Baltar comes from the planet Yorkshire. The Australian director of the mini-series knew that Callis was adding a level humour that was 'dangerous for the series' but the Americans seemed to like it. They did not realise that Callis was using a Carry-On movie delivery at times eg "That Shelley Godfrey's got it in for me." in the mini-series he said "How are you leaving" in a carry-on movie style. The Americans were oblivious to this.
Great sean bean impression hehe ,whats weird though is later in the series when they show Baltars dad he has an irish/cornish accent , so i dunno where the Yorkshire comes in,they must have moved around a bit.
Hey dude, even I can hear the differences in those accents. From what I've been told the pacific northwest accent is the most neutral sounding accent in the English language. It's what makes us hard to place, when we get speaking roles.
@@travismcnasty4239 regardless, your accent would confirm to being either Rhotic or non Rhotic, and your noun pronounciation would locate you to the US quite easily.
I doubt that very much. There certainly is a North/South thing where we think the other sounds weird. But the one that both sides of the coin look down on would be the Appalachian accent. The back hills people in the mountains of Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Ohio. I can instantly hear the difference from my area, Western Ohio with a Midwest accent to someone from southern Ohio in the hills with an Appalachian accent. Both the north and South would look down on that. And also maybe the extreme Creole accent in Louisiana. That's a very tough accent to get through.
This one minute scene explains best why he cried after saying his "You know, I know about farming." line on the finale.
that line almost made me cry when I watched it
I picked up on it when Caprica gave his father a small plot of land to work. Saw it as regret for how he treated his dad

@@radicalgoodspeed16 Me too. I was wondering whether I liked the finale or not until that line, which sold me on it completely.
So Aerilon is full of Yorkshireman? lol, I never would have guessed!

Don't talk to me about sophistication, I've BEEN to Space Leeds
this scene freaked me the heck out when i first saw it.

Grimsby?

There's a hilarious line from The Mighty Boosh:

Yorkshire is a state of mind.
The voice of alucard, great tone range from James Callis
Aerilon accent sounds awesome. Baltar could do an awesome speech with that accent.
You need to go to Yorkshire
Going to reference this scene in my essay on dialects and social class. Gonna be a great essay.
Scott Meech how was it??
Got an A+
Scott Meech my man!!! may the gods be with you
A bit late, but any chance you could share that essay, I'd love to read that.
This whole cast was top notch.

Apparently 10 year old Aerilon children have the throat of a 40 year old smoker xD
Did you expect him to start speaking in a squeaky child like voice?
@@gibblets17 exactly!
I though he was gonna go with an American (mostly southern) accent. Startled the heck outta me when he started talking like a GoT prison guard.
its still the best sci fi show ever created.
On parr with star trek I think you mean , of trek didnt exist nor would this
I felt like it is Doctor Bashir from Deep Space 9 , jesus christ I had to google it lol
I thought that too, especially in the beginning of the series he looks so much like him.
Mood. I fucking thought that was Baltar when I saw Doran on GoT too!

I’m guessing 🇺🇸 version would be the Southern accent 🤔

I seriously doubt he sounded like that at ten years old...
Lots of working class kids smoked, I myself started at 8
It's quite possible that's just what his adult voice would sound like speaking the same way
So Aerilon is in the North of England? So is Sean Bean the President of Aerilon?
@@C-eo1rt To be fair he never died in the Sharpe series....almost everybody else did save Sargent Harper.
