She really does lol. Which is why I'm usually pissed with her albums vocals haha. Thankfully "The Gift" was really good for me and it didn't disappoint as much as previous releases.
2003- her voice was really light and slightly thin/nasal 2004- the nasal sound went away and voice had nice tonality with ease in upper register 2006- her voice blossomed and the Beyoncé experience was the year of fantastic upper belting from F5-G#5 2007- her darkened a bit and her growls were used more as well as her new fuller tone developed 2008-2009 (same as 2007) 2010-2013- voice matured yet again and got fuller probably due to pregnancy and became more confident in using her head voice up to the 6th octave (C6s, D6s, and even that supported Eb6) 2015- started off great with the Grammy performance and Stevie wonders tribute but her overly growling made her sound extremely shrill during the made in America festival as well as the global citizen concert. 2016- showed a lot of restraint but has maintained her technical prowess and focused more on delivering more artistry, visuals, than overpowered vocals. 2018- showed that even with her tesitura getting lower yet again she still GOT IT and Coachella showed that she can still deliver fantastic vocals when rested and ready
Do we really know that her tessitura lowered though? She’s hardly performed in the past 3 years. Just the Grammys, Coachella, OTRII tour, Global Citizens, and City of Hope. I mean she’s not really pushed herself vocally.
J. Cole You’re definitely right about not knowing for sure if it’s lowered but the weight and ease that she has gained especially in the 2nd octave as well as her mid register from C5-Eb5 and the fact that she lowers they key in certain vocal oriented songs leads me to believe her tesitura has lowered a bit. Even though she’s still capable of belting notes on E5 & F5, we both have to admit that the ease isn’t there anymore, but then again Beyoncé known for being able to prove people wrong so I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
RyderC Daniels right, we don’t really know. However, I wouldn’t say the gained weight and ease in the second octave and the mid belt region clearly indicates a lowered tessitura. When it comes to her lowering keys, in the past 3 years she’s only lowered the key of “Resentment” after the first couple of shows of the OTRII tour’s European leg. When you look at the timing though, she did Coachella 10 months after her life threatening child birth. Beyoncé only gave herself a 2 month rest before starting rehearsals. Then she went straight into OTRII just 2 months later. Then went straight into City of Hope a week after ending the tour. Then 2 months later, she did Global Citizens. Keep in mind, she had been working on The Lion King movie and soundtrack all of late 2017 and all through 2018. This is the longest break she’s had vocally since before she got pregnant with the twins. Beyoncé’s not performed since December and seems to be enjoying her downtime. Beyoncé still gave us clean and growled upper belts above Eb5 every night during the OTR II tour, both Lion King soundtracks, and all her performances since 2017, so the ease is clearly still there. I just think she’s been restraining herself so she doesn’t push herself voice past the limits of its current state until she gets back to 100%. I’m sure nobody would want her to go the route Mariah did, constantly pushing her voice with no time periods for rest. We will just have to wait until the next studio album and solo tour comes along to really see the state of her voice.
Fascinating....even as her tessitura has lowered over the years, her balanced/light mix, tone placement, technique, and all things that come along with controlled singing, has remained the same and gotten even better. she’s such a queen😍😍
She's a force of nature who keeps getting better with time and I truly believe that if she gives it a shot, she can easily sing circles on her so-called 'vocal prime'. She really has nothing to prove on that department after all the missing wigs and scalp she has caused.
@@mlh1367 it’s not about a difference sounds, she sung some old songs and she didn’t sing them as good as she use to, proving that she indeed did regress.

I love Queen B! I just realized all her sustained long high notes have a ton of reverb on them . esp the first 2 era's . I like when she developed more growl and rasp. But her voice sounds so much better w out the reverb. and while dancing too wow.
Why was that Ave Maria like that? Also great job, this definitely took a lot of effort. Also the copyright is evil, sorry they deleted your original video.
I admit that I'm annoyed by her tone and oversinging when she was in Destinys Child, her tone sounds better now, it's rounder and fuller though she still has the bright brassy-trumpet quality but she's not that nasal like when she was in the group. Her voice is still in tact although it will take more effort to hit her soprano like high notes she had in her younger days, her voice shows no decline due to damage but maturity.
She never had a nasal tone. It was always been beautiful and just more babyish. Her tone has matured over the years. I hope she brings back the "oversinging" because of how much Whitney and Mariah "oversung." Because Beyoncé stopped doing as many runs and riffs to fit into modern music and not be accused of "oversinging", they now try to say she's not equal to them. And Beyoncé is.
You're not going to find a bigger star. Beyoncé has been getting standing ovations since she began. I am sick.
