Sonic 3 is a movie that teaches about grief, loss, and dealing with those emotions in a healthy way. Quite literally, by his own admission, Sonic 3 should fulfill his quota of "a kid movie for everyone" but his attention span was so miniscule that he couldn't be assed to notice any of this
Sonic 3 doesn't teach anything, because the writing is bad
You want to see a real movie about grief, loss, and overcoming it?
Watch Kung Fu Panda 2, that did it in a much more profound way.

I like that Matt sees it as weird that adults are seeing a Sonic the Hedgehog movie, even though Sonic as a series has been around since the 90s. I imagine a lot of those kids who grew up playing Sonic the Hedgehog are more than likely in their 20s-30s.
I find it funnier that from listening to him it feels like this is his first ever exposure to Sonic The Hedgehog.
Good for him. Now he is damaged as a father as he gave a review? Yes a review where he mentioned he was not paying attention and could not even explain the plot of the movie. Sonic is for family and this movie was for the FANS.
He doesn’t understand that’s not just for kids and the fact the people enjoy things from their childhood even if they seem too old. I can like my childhood movies as much as new interests!
@@hiei374 It does 🤣. I suspect he has never played video games as a child or an adult.
Can confirm I'm 23 and I've played Sonic Rush, Rush Adventure, Unleashed, '06, Rivals 1 & 2, OG Generations etc. When I was a kid...
I went to see the Sonic Symphony Last Year and had a Great time and got me and my nephew Sonic Shirts. And yes I loved Movie 3.
Matt Walsh is the human version of the "I had fun once, I hated it" meme.

Ugh. I will never understand this mindset where adulthood and maturity must be synonymous with misery and seriousness.

@@Jeff_doors16 also that he didn’t even see the film’s predecessors.
Kinda like he's spoofing or something.
It’s bc he’s basically playing a character, you should see his Christmas movie tier list. It’s terrible. But he isn’t serious about it, these type of his clips are just meant to be dry humor rant. None of his points or reviews really should be taken seriously on these type of videos, he’s exaggerating. You can hear the sarcasm in his voice. The fact that he barely tried to make any decent points was by design.
I find it funny that so Many in this comment section are up in arms against a man making a half ass review of a hedgehog movie.
@@Colinization18You’re the one coping and seething about how your precious Matt was just employing ‘dry humour,’ and not being lazy and media illiterate, he outright admitted to not paying attention and not watching the previous movies, that’s not sarcasm in his voice, it’s insincerity.
@@xero2135 so by admitting he didn’t see the other movies out right and not paying attention to the other movies.. that makes it so it’s not really a movie review and rather a rant about a movie his kid made him see… but yet your judging it as a honest detailed review.
And yes, his Lack of sincerity is what makes his act feigning sincerity be defined as Sarcasm. Again dude, it’s a grown man talking about a hedgehog movie. Grow up.
Matt Walsh's comments in his video we're the definition of "everyone seems like an expert until they talk about something you're an expert on" and its glorious 💀

Exactly, it sounds smart if you're ignorant but once you actually know what he's talking about you realise how stupid he is
It’s a movie. How is it a sacrifice. My parents who don’t know shit about Sonic didn’t watch the two movies before and enjoyed it a lot. It was a good time like this dude is dramatic as hell
It’s because of his limited view on fatherhood. A father’s duty in his mind is to just provide money for his family, dole out discipline, when they misbehave, and exert his authority over the family. The “sacrifice” is in that last part where he “graciously” let’s go of his authority to let his kids watch a movie he doesn’t want to watch. And to people like Walsh, there is no greater insult than to defer authority.
Weirdly ironic how he considers watching the movie a "sacrifice" while Shadow did just that in the movie, much like his game counterpart.
@@J-manliThat’s his fault for being ignorant. The game that inspired making this movie was released in 2001. I’ve seen tons of adults his age going crazy for this movie.
@@J-manliI’d say being a father is a lot more complicated then your saying it is, but definitely not to the extent that Walsh is saying it is.
Really good example of orange peal theory. Watching a movie you aren't interested is a small sacrifice. According to OPT, being unwilling to make small sacrifices translates to not being willing to do the big sacrifices.
It’s one thing to dislike something that others like; that’s having an opinion and that’s fine.
It’s another thing entirely to insult people for liking something and implying that it’s somehow ‘wrong’ for them to enjoy it.
And insult any father of a child who did 😂.
You think Matt can understand the difference?
That's almost everyone tho. You can't like something others hate apparently 🙄🤦♂️
That’s Wett Mulch’s entire schtick unfortunately. His online persona is of an arbiter of “truth and morality.” So when he doesn’t like something he can’t just admit it’s because of personal preference as that would mean he is a subjective person. Instead he has to “justify” why his personal preference are in “fact” the “objective truth.”
@@J-manli say it again for the people in the back 🙏🏽😂
What pisses me off, he didn't pay attention to the point he doesn't even know 'evil hedgehog's' name. The one who was the main highlight of the film. Also the fact he doesn't know what the fuck he's talking about.
Yeah, the fact that he barely paid attention makes question why he even did this in the first place. Because there was a lot of plot points he missed because he didn’t even pay attention.
That asshole didn’t even pay attention to the movie or even know Shadow’s name.🤦🏾♂️
That "evil hedgehog" name is Shadow. Even a kid can say his name while talking about this movie.
The REAL “evil hedgehog” would be Metal Sonic or Scourge. Due to Shadow being an Anti Hero.

Media Literacy is one of the most underrated inventions ever
Yes
So much for teaching everyone to read if this is how he uses it 😂
Yes
Media Literacy is the ability to critically analyze news stories and determine what is true based on merit or source. It's not meant to analyze fiction, especially not Sonic the Hedgehog. Just because a phrase went viral because some commentator used it doesn't mean they understood what it means.
@someperson9999 if you aren't able to process simple themes and ideas in sonic the fucking hedgehog then you probably can't understand the big stuff.

Matt is definitely a mufasa fan
When i was watching the sk video thats exactly what i was thinking
I can imagine him loving Mufasa and his kids falling asleep. 😂
It becomes more evident when you see him lash out on Jeff Fowler and the team. “The acting was terrible” where are his manners? He could be a true critic by saying where the film lacks, and not hating it due to bias.
@@xenon3551 Or painfully cringing to that "brothaaa" song, wishing they could bleach it out of their brains.
Nah he hates disney, and much like others like him, he hates them for the wrong reasons.
Matt got to spend time with his kids in the theater. Why is that so distressing? My Dad took me to see It (2017) when I was a teenager, despite rarely watching horror movies. As an adult, I treasure that memory and relationship because we got to spend that time together, and hopefully, his kids can feel the same thing as they age. That opportunity doesn't last forever, so isn't spending time with your children as a parent more important in the long run than your short-term annoyance at a children's film?
I’ve replied this in another comment but Walsh has a very limited view on what fatherhood entails. To him, a father’s duties are just to provide money for the family, dole out discipline when necessary, and exert his authority over his family. And it’s that last bit that irks him about having to go watch Sonic 3 with his kids. By doing an activity he doesn’t like but his kids like, he is deferring his authority to them. And that is tantamount to humiliation.
@@J-manliOhhhh dude I thought you were saying earlier that a father is meant to be those things, not that Matt thinks a father is only those things.

The villain shadow's character arc (alliance with eggman, overwhelmed by grief, simply needs to be told he's misguided and how eggman is selfish and takes it too far doing what you never agreed to {blowing up earth} is EXACTLY a copy paste of knuckles' story arch in Sonic 2 {Abusing chaos emerald}.
Tails barely had any lines and zero development. Knuckles had no impact on the story except wanting to smash a wall. (That whole plan couldve just been skipped with a smash after all). The military was not involved except that one boss lady whose character arc was snuffed after falling for the dumbest trick possible. She saw her boss die in front of her but she gives the key to an imposter using her tech anyway?!?!
The only redeemable parts were references to shadow's human friend from the games (but his voice acting ruins the moment) and Jim Carrey's whacky acting (but then I'd rather watch a full on Jim Carrey movie, OR sonic 2 where he had emerald power. 8:27 It makes sense as to why Knuckles would give the emerald to Wade
Because they become best friends in the knuckles show and Knuckles isn't exactly the sharpest tool in the shed
Even if that transition from dramatic to comedic wasn't right, at least sonic has great continuity
Not only best friends,to Knuckles's eyes, Wade is a worthy warrior that saved him and proved his worth.

The Knuckles show was peak fiction.
As TvTropes points out, Wade is the best and worst possible guardian for the Master Emerald. No one would suspect he’d have it, but he’s totally incapable of protecting it once discovered to have it.
I hate that fact the Matt is questioning why in universe characters are doing in universe things. I also hate that fact that he didn’t care about anything and was mostly antagonistic for the sake of being antagonistic. His “review” if you can even call it that is the most hollow and soulless review I’ve ever seen. On top of that, the absolute disrespect he gave to the people who made the movie and the voice actors just makes it worse than it already was.
I actually watched said movie with my dad and step mom, my step mom loved the dance scene. They also joked about something about it was minor and they tend to that.

Wonder if Matt was expecting to see some “Woke” stuff in it and planned to talk about that and then got out of the theater and thought to himself “I can still find a way to make content off this”
Probably, I don’t know
How do you enjoy anything when you're worried about specific things happening the entire time?
@imtyler99yearsago90 that’s kind of what I mean
Yeah, the movie is not at all interested about "woke" stuff. Maddie and Tom are in an interracial relationship, but it's treated as normal, and no one cares about it. Robotnik says that he is undesirable to "any and all known genders" as a throwaway line. The movie makes a singular joke about women in the military. I'm surprised he didn't take the opportunity to dunk on Mufasa and Disney by praising this movie and rubbing its success in their faces. That seems like a huge missed opportunity for someone like him.
@@speedude0164 because sonic 3 isn't anti-woke enough for him. Sonic 3 doesn't bash lgbtqia, black people or woman
"Woke Disney=automatically garbage" - him probably
This dude has also never saw Keanu Reeves voice acting in Toy Story 4
Why see _anything_ in Toy Story 4?
@ Because Keanu Reeves voiced Duke Kaboom and you can tell that he was having a blast no pun intended voicing that character
Not gonna lie, I don’t think the guy who wrote Johnny the Walrus should be talking about what kids deserve
4:07 “i played Lou part 2 without part one, so maybe im missing some context of what’s happening” maron 🤦♂️🤦♂️
I can’t imagine Matt was serious when posting this…like, it has to be full on rage bait right? If he was serious I’m convinced he was just never a child…ever. At any point in time.
100% rage bait 😂
@@LadtheDisabled its not ragebait. I really don't believe its ragebait since he does take down his videos from time to time..if it is ragebait, than maybe hes just a coward too
He was a child a long time ago. Now he's a cynical middle-aged man.
10:50 watch the Knuckles series and you'll understand why Wade has the Master Emerald, It makes a lot od sense actually
It really doesn't because the Knuckles show was garbage and forgetting its existence is therapeutic
@@Drums_of_Liberationnot quite but he still does have a point when it comes to the understanding of why Wade was trusted by knuckles to guard the master emerald. And no matter how much people didn't like the show it's still Canon to the universe.
@@Drums_of_Liberation It's an objective fact that the Knuckles show explains why Wade has the Master Emerald. You don't have to like it, but it was still explained...
Are you sure he wasn’t being held captive by Disney to make this review
nah, even disney wouldn't want to associate with an alleged pedo
Matt walsh is the kind of man who gives himself confirmation quotes in the mirror every morning.
Matt Walsh is the kind of man who not only owns a hammer but also used it to hang a picture once. He still talks about it.
Walsh has refused to debate people if he can’t edit them.
That should tell you everything about him
And for people who don’t understand why this is a problem. This shows Matt is very aware of his arguments and their flaws. He knows the right person like a Dillahunty will confidently expose him as a fraud. This is why no one on any intellectual level should ever take Matt serious on his words. He’s so dishonest that he has a specific clause in contracts that he has the rights to his debates and can refuse to air them fully. It’s a very dishonest position and it’s to ensured he can never be proven wrong when he knows he’s wrong.
I was waiting for this. Can we as a society clown this dude. (Also, why is bro glazing his own nugget in the beginning)
That guy literally got russian money to promote his bullshit. Seriously, he and a bunch of other right wing influencers did.
With this clown it is the only reason he ever got any popularity in the first place.
@frankwest5388 imagine this dude shaming his kid for getting excited over this movie
@@frankwest5388he also once blamed liberals for Josh Dugger being a abuser and then getting caught with CP
Matt the typa guy to say why your favourite Sci-fi movie is unrealistic
me a 21 year old person, went to see the movie with my girlfriend and our friend, she's visiting for the holidays and i saw the first two for the first time a day before we all went to see the third, i wasn't really into the sonic fandom, i knew about it but didn't care but during the 3rd seeing my girlfriend and friend freaking out over references from the game made me excited and I'll admit it. i like sonic now (mainly shadow) I'm glad that i was shown these movies. so seeing this man saying that no one who made this didn't care just made me loose my mind, there was so much care and so much stuff they put into this movie, its a loose adaptation so they had to work things around, but you can see how they took the original story and did their best to stick to it. but i doubt this man will be willing to hear his kids talk about the games if this is how he acts seeing the movie.
Agreed. I have been a sonic fan since I was 11 or 12 when the first sonic movie released. It made such an impact on my childhood that I began playing the games and became a sonic fan from then on. I’ve been waiting for this movie for 4 years, and we finally get it and everyone is happy and this doofus makes a video saying how crappy this movie was. It honestly makes me sick that someone would watch a movie without seeing the previous ones only to fall asleep during the movie and decide to review it negatively, you have to be a person with a brain smaller that a grain of sand to do that
@thebrickbros.1294 i feel bad for the kids, i hope that they had a fun time seeing the movie cause man the hype when people recognized things from the game was so cool (of course i didn't really understand at the time)
@@SkyeCloudlord yeah I hope the kids enjoyed the movie too. I’ve seen plenty of people who don’t know sonic very well and came out of this movie as new fans who were hyped for more. This movie can actually change people in a good way. And if you already love sonic you feel like you were just given a million dollars.
It is a really good film, and it establishes Shadow really well, if they keep adapting some of the other Sonic stories i think it would be amazing! Shadow's character development on the next games was amazing, and also i can't wait to see some other characters in the big screen, im glad you watched the movies! It is a really good starting point on Sonic stuff
yeah, when matt said that i laughed out loud due to how objectively false of a statement it was. not just in terms of actually giving the fans what we want (and as a huge sonic fan, it absolutely accomplished that lol), but jeff fowler has stated that jim carrey retiring is the reason sonic 3 is as good as it is; they REALLY focused on writing a script so good that he just couldnt say no to, and got it printed with fucking 24k gold ink (in reference to a joke jim carrey made about only going back if it was an amazing script written in gold ink)
i can understand not enjoying the movie, but that is such a CRAZY thing to say. if they didnt respect their audience, we wouldve been stuck with ugly sonic and no sequels
Remember that this is the man who tried to say that Toy Story, Star Wars, and the f**king Dark Knight are all overrated.
He also said 16 year old girls are the most fertile or some f*d up shit like that. This guy needs to be investigated, he sounds like he keeps his children and wife chained in a basement dungeon
Oh he is just desperately trying to be that "cool" contrarian kid who isn't actually cool and is just really loathsome to be around.
@ We shouldn’t be surprised, almost every conservative I’ve met that claims that the left is full of “groomers” end up being a groomer themself
Matt Walsh once said he wanted 13 year olds to marry. I would be offended if he liked Sonic 3. I want nothing in common with this creep
He said 16 actually, but yes. This guy needs to be investigated
This is the kinda guy who would say Mufasa is peak.
He is the Dad that doesn't tell the "Joke" but becomes the "JOKE"
Seriously, even if the first two movies weren't great, its a no brainer that a sequel will require context from prior films to understand it.
5:53 Crazy how Matt Walsh’s shorts description of the movie is a perfect depiction of your average person having to listen to Matt Walsh
What... *_is_* Matt’s channel at this point?
He acts like he some kind of expert on politics and psychology, but other times he acts like a movie reviewer, and one time he reviewed...French fries
Why....just why?
He rage baits by posting about things he doesn't care about. It's some of the funniest hot takes I've seen in a while.
I honestly feel bad for his kids, they probably wanted their dad to spend time and watch a movie about something they actually enjoy and love, and at least appreciate their intrests, just for their dad to go onto his wannabe news show to talk shit about it...that would absolutely make me feel like my interests are stupid ngl. Even if i was a little kid.
I know Matt is to boomer brained to know anything about video games, but Reeves kills it at voice acting in Cyber Punk 2077.
I can't imagine Johnny with any other voice or look, it was too perfect.
The movie probably had to have some comedic moments as to give the kids watching some relief from the serious stuff. You know like how the alka seltzer scene was added in Final Destination because the test audience did not enjoy the shock of that one death in the movie being that sudden
Kids needs to be treated with respect, they deserve good movies with important life lessons. This movie is definitely one of them.
This guy talks about all that yet he failed to see that message in Sonic 3, I feel sorry for his children because his father is a bad listener who can't seem to get enough of his own voice.
His video quite literally hit me like that one "godzilla doesn't work in America" video
I’ve already seen SKs response to this video and it’s the worst take on Sonic 3 I’ve seen he literally just makes blanketed statements and doesn’t explain them and complains that suicidal characters do suicidal things like what Sonic 3 is literally a 10/10 masterpiece
I think I just might make a response myself to this exact same guy in the video because he’s stupid
Sonic 3 is a 10/10 for real? I haven’t seen it but as someone who hasn’t ever been particularly interested in these movies I am curious . Unless your just being dramatic I guess lol
@@rashawnwalker9398 you should see Sonic 3 it’s really good It is really funny and has good action scenes with a very good story.

Surprisingly like under the mayo with Arkham knight
My sister is 22 and we both grew up watching Sonic X and playin a few games. I grew out of it like alot of things, but my sis still adores Sonic (especially Shadow).
It was heartwarming to see her happy and excited to watch things that made up our childhood.❤
It's great to know that your sister still is a fan of Sonic ever since both Sonic X and the games.
Tho' believe it or not? I'm also thinking about growing out of Sonic too after it's DC collab, mostly because while I did sorta enjoy the Sonic 3 movie and all? what did sorta ruin the movie for me and caused me to also think of it as overhyped at the same time was that endless "Sonic 3 vs. Mufasa" war, I maybe a Disney fan but I'm abit more "meh" on the Mufasa movie itself, I even tried telling the other Sonic fans that, but they never listen tbh.
Hate to say it? but for me, being a Sonic fan is not as fun as it was when I was both a kid and a pre-teen, imo atleast lol.
Can we even call this a review of a film? Like it doesn't really talk about he plot or characters, its more of a backdrop to talk about bullshit. Like if matt Walsh had made a twitter post that said “I didn't like the sonic 3 movie” people would still not like it but at least it would've been forgotten but no instead he decided to make a 10-minute-long diatribe about again fucking nothing. At least its short so there is that compliment.
Gerald Robotnik definitely loved Maria way more than Matt Walsh loves his kids.
My dad and mom are parents (obviously) and they’re both 50-60.. they loooved Sonic 😭 they’ve watched every movie so far and are excited for the next one.. he lowkey just a lame parent
6:31 Bro, Keanu was great in Cyberpunk. I wouldn't say he's a terrible voice actor
Too woke for Matt
It's because Keanu's a dog lover
I haven’t played Cyberpunk either, but isn’t a good chunk of Johnny mocap’d?
Matt Walsh got buckbroken by peak cinema. Wasn't ready for how good it was
This is a better debunking video than sk's
0:54 Sounds like the average Disagreement Day.
11:42 😂 best part fits so well
