I recommend a small battery powered chainsaw to cut firewood, or you will spend all of your time hand sawing wood if you don’t. I forgot to show this and review. Maybe next time

Had mine for 3 yrs and love it. Great value. Colorado in November and July, Arkansas during a tropical storm and zero issues!!
Awesome. Hoping to get mine out again before it gets hot, but running out of free weekends already. If this one breaks, I'd still buy another one. Heck I wish I'd have bought one when they were on sale over Christmas just for parts if nothing else.
I have same tent, a couple things I did or do , I have a 16X20 tarp I have the 20’ overhang the sides (roughly 4-5’ each side ) this gives you an area on both sides to store Gear, coolers ,wood etc under cover . I added a flap for wood stove pipe in tarp , i also made rebar tent stakes 18” long, I also bought a diesel heater, this keeps tent warm at night so you don’t have to get up for fire . In morning I add a duraflame log to start fire for day and shut off heater. Wood stove has 3 gallon water tank ,:to power diesel heater and allpower power station provides plenty of power for heater and you can solar charge it .
Good call on the side overhangs. I'm going to give that a try. Thanks for the tip!
Thanks, Brian. great video-very informative. I like the mods you did. I have the same tent and have been pleased. it has been set up on my property for about a year now and has held up reasonably well-even survived and ice storm and some intrusive pine limbs. I agree that they skimped out on the Velcro for the floor. I need to follow your advice and add more. I liked your tarp idea. Enjoy the woods, brother.
Thanks for your compliments. It's been a fun tent, and I've had mine out in some ugly stuff as well with no problems. Honestly, if one could get 8 or 10 trips out of it, they've probably gotten their money's worth. I'd probably still go out and buy another one. If you have any good mods or customizations, would love to see or hear about them. Happy camping!
Theres a grommet too thats real cheep that would work well with your rain fly. The extra tarp on the roof also makes the roof insulated. I was amazed in the deference it made.
Tarp does make a world of difference keeping the warm air inside the tent. I have a Coghlan's grommet set I've used to repair the rain fly. I should add some of them to the bottom flap but never do. Last campout I simply tucked the bottom flaps underneath the floor and it worked pretty well sealing things off. Thanks for watching.
I bought the same tent and used it at the beginning of Nov for hunting here in Colorado. Held up good for the cold n snow we got..
Good value for what it is, I probably would have never tried wall tent camping if my only options were the more expensive wall tents. Thanks for watching.
Brian...I really liked your video ...I'm from PA. also ...please do not take what I say to be criticism, but rather as someone that has been there ...done that .I also purchased one of these tents from Ozark Trail ,because it was billed as a canvas wall tent ...and what I received was a tent that looked and felt like ripstop nylon ...canvas is made from 100% cotton and comes in different weights .I felt like I had been at the very least a victim of some kind of unfair advertising...and still feel the same today ...I purchased the tent three years ago ...rather than try to get it exchanged ( or at least get my money back) I decided to keep it and try to work through my mistakes...I will say that for an entry level wall tent it has been a not so bad experience...My tent came with NO floor ...which brings me to another point The sod flaps (usually called sod cloth ) are supposed to be tucked under (to the inside) of the tent ..the floor of the tent is then laid over top of the sod cloth thus creating a more efficient seal ...(trust me on this )..look it up or call ANY reputable wall tent manufacturer ...again thank you for your time and effort put into this video perhaps we'll run into each other in our home state of Pennsylvania...I live in the south central county of Clinton
..
Bill thanks for commenting and nice to hear from a PAer. I hope you are able to enjoy your tent in spite of its flaws. That is a shame it was missing the floor - I’d have asked for a new one unless they didn’t have a floor prior. At a few hundred dollars I didn’t particularly expect comparable quality to a real canvas material, but I found the fabric to be of thick/stout enough quality and the tent breathes well for me. Those flaps on this tent to me are to simply pack snow onto if the opportunity arises and they’ve worked well that way. Otherwise I just try to pin them snug to the ground and more velco around the bottom would be good enough for me. But I haven’t done it yet, so I guess it hasn’t annoyed me all that much. Take care and happy camping - Brian
I added grommets to the bottom flaps of mine and pinned it to the floor. Seems to work plenty well
Nice review. Be a nice deer camp set up. Just found your channel new subscriber!!
Thanks good man! It’s a labor of love but a lot of fun. I highly endorse this seasonal pastime! Subbed to yours also!
@@brianh1161 thank you. Deer camps in my mind are slowly dying
For the porch extention you were talkign about, I'll probably do the same but make the tarp wider so at least one side goes to the ground so it keeps rain off my cooking or wood. My tent hasn't arrived yet so I'm not sure what I'll do, but I'm thinking of doing something like that.
One detail I forgot to point out- get a light colored tarp if you can. I bought the desert camo because it didn’t block light coming thru the roof (plus it looks cool and was in-stock at a local store). A dark or thick tarp will make it dark inside the tent. Good idea about wood, be sure to show us all your set up 👍
@@brianh1161 that's a good tip. I would have bought anything but I'll make sure to pay attention to color. And yes, if I can get a light camo I would also think that would look cool. How about some of the large concealment camo meeting to put over it all?
When he says " results may very " 🤪😜 made me think I was watching a commercial...
Good video!....... I also am gonna get one.......
Thanks for watching and have fun
Eat well, laugh often, love much.
It's just not a kitchen without a cheesy dish towel
Nice tent 👏👏👏👏👏
I put you or vid on my favorites list
Thanks man! Happy camping
I just bought this tent for $249 last week. It's on rollback at Walmart. To be honest, this is not a tent for just a quick camping trip. Takes quite a bit to set up and take down with only one person. Most of my camping trips are no longer than two nights. Not sure that this tent is worth setting up and tearing down unless planning on staying for a longer time.
Yep best for 3+ nighters or leave up somewhere. Wall tents aren’t much for an overnight.
Was it green? I orderd one & it said green.
@@robertcoenen610 The tent? Or something else? It’s off white, almost a tan color.
@@brianh1161 Mine came yesterday it was off white. The Walmart add said green.
I think this tent is no longer produced! I got one from FleetFarm - same exact tent but now they have it listed as $100 clearance yet out of stock.... and I don't see this tent listed on Walmart anymore....Maybe Costco still has it as the Timber Ridge brand. I'm sure they're all from the same factory in China - and the production run must have finished. "Timber Ridge Grand Teton Outfitter 6-person Wall Tent with Stove Port" - yep they sell it for $350.
👍👍👍👍
Try lag bolts and an impact to stake your tent out
On sale at Walmart online. $249
I dig the tent but I have zero problems admitting I hate snakes.....that open floor would drive me nuts. I guess if your any out in late fall and winter there's no worries.
You and me both brother. I personally would not take this tent out in the hot months either. I only got interested in camping again once I realized I could go out in the cold season. Humidity, bugs, snakes, undergrowth - hard pass!
I'm from PA where is that nice public land that you are on? And can camp there? Your setup looks fine to me, I've seen that velcro issue from people before you can buy Velcro and add more of it the whole way around just not sure the cost nice public land!
The state forests have dispersed primitive camp sites along their forest roads. Up until November these were free of charge, but do require a permit you can obtain online. It's $10/night now which is a real bummer, but it's better than not having anywhere to go. Type in 'pa state forest camping map' and you'll find a site with the map.
@@brianh1161 thanks for the info Brian I'll have to check that out I always wanted a wall tent right now I have a Browning Glacier 4 person, I have a campsite reserved at Codorus State Park in York County for muzzleloading season, from October 12th to the 25th, 13 days of Glory, your hunting camp setup at least that's what I call it looks fantastic
@@ronholmes799 Sounds glorious indeed!! Thanks again.
I'm gonna try your velcro suggestion Ron, hopefully reduces the draftiness when the wind is blowing. Thanks
Yes sir I just bought this tent two weeks ago for 249$ too!!! Can’t wait to set it up!!! Come on man why couldn’t it just be red necked 😊instead of ghetto the way you did your tarp 😢lol #Walmart #Amazon 😂
Yeah that tarp is too nice for the ghetto ain’t it 😆 good luck you will enjoy it
Went on sale again for $249 and got myself one! Excited to try it out soon, hopefully while I'm off work a few days over New Years.
Nice
Work in progress. Thanks for watching!
Have the same tent with the knock off camp alpine stove. How long can you keep warm at night? We had problems keeping the fire lit but only had a few nights to play with it
I can get around 3 hours or a bit more of burn, but on a cold night I’m up every 1.5-2 hours stoking to hold room temp. I keep the damper down about 2/3 and keep intake cracked 1/3. Davis tent sells a heat baffle for cylinder stoves to extend burn time but it’s not compatible to mine and requires mods to the stove pipe hole. If I figure something out to use this I’ll let you know. A bit of flat stove gasket at the door can help too, but makes my door open/shut a little tight (there’s a UA-cam video out there). A good sleeping bag lets you get up at about the 2.5-3 hour mark to revive the coals. Thanks for watching and good luck with your stove.
@@brianh1161 thanks man that's good info
Have any tips for putting anchors in bottom of poles
Work from one end of tent, going side to side. I work rear to front. Seem to often pinch a finger somewhere along the way
I just got one of these tents and also found this to be challenging. I think i might trim about half inch off those anchor pins and see if it makes it any easier. If i actually take the time to do this, I will provide an update on if it is worth the effort.
I usually camp with 5 women in my harem. Will this tent work?
@@mattdelany6799 well if you can find five women willing to camp without any complaining…scratch that, never happened before!!
@@brianh1161 they each get 100,000 a month. If they get too mouthy, they are out.
You better get the tarp off the tent. It will mildew your tent. You need at least 6 inch space. I had a tent camp in the Adirondacks for 14 years. We used a 20 by 30 tarp and built a free standing ridge pole built from 2 by 4s. Contact me for pictures if you want.
I’m sure that can be a problem in cases. I never have mine up for more than a week or two at a time, usually just a few days, and put it away dry. Good idea for longer setups I’m sure.
Move your kitchen outside. Stretch a tarp or uy an Eazy-up
I have considered that…one of these days I’ll prob get a longer tarp.
I know this is a 10x12 tent but what is the height of the side walls and the very top of the roof frame? I can't find it anywhere not even from the description on the website. And I haven't found any other youtubers to give exact numbers like it's a guarded secret or something...please help me out.
I believe it’s a hair over 7’ to the peak (no less), with 5ft side walls. The peak is just right, high enough to stand comfortably but still easy enough to rig cloth/tarp over. I’m 6ft and my lanterns are able to hang over my head. Plus less roof area to heat. The expensive canvas tents have higher peaks but are usually all still 5’ walls. Edit: you’re right I can’t find dimensions listed anywhere. Odd. I will post them next time I set it up.
Older model posting says 90” peak. Seems right to me.

Do you think the tent poles will endure in the wind?
I just had it set up in my back yard over Christmas in wind with 30mph+ gusts and it held fine with the stakes I used. But I had it in similar winds last winter with the smaller stakes in frozen ground and it held too. In general you should never set up a wall tent, say, out in the middle of a windy open field. Try to set up near any type of windbreak, trees, a hill, etc. But this tent held up just fine properly set up.
@@brianh1161 thank u
Does it come with a floor?????
Yes, heavy, nice PVC floor. Very durable so far, just don't let any larger hot embers fall on it, even with a stove mat. I've melted some holes underneath. There's a floor zipout for the stove but I don't open it when it's wet/snowy, plus the embers tend to fall out in front of the hole anyway.
You know if a hot ember lands on your tent it will just roll off. If a hot ember lands on that tarp it's going up in flames and will ruin your tent. Just saying. Always go with a flame retardant material with a wood stove.
You might be right, but I’ve had this tarp out 7 or 8 times on multi day trips and just don’t feel very concerned about it. It has a single 1/4” ember hole in it. Plus I have a spark arrestor, so nothing bigger than that is really falling out of the chimney anyway, and the pipe is much higher than the tent. If you have a real world example of this you’ve witnessed I’d be interested to hear about it. Thanks for commenting.
Following up, I happened to check places like Wall Tent Shop and White Duck Canvas - their flys are some type of polyethylene like this el cheapo tarp, for what it’s worth to anyone.
Solar power ?
Maybe someday!
Is the tent Canvas? Or a mix?
It is some type of synthetic mix but it has a soft heavy feel to it and breathes really well. I have rolled it up before with a little of dampness on it, and as long as I leave the folded up fabric sort of loose next to a fan, it dries out quickly. Some type of polyester blend maybe?
How well does it hold heat ?
Welp, it’s a tent, so no insulation. But if the stove is burning, it’s room temperature
What size tent
10' x 12'. They make a 10 x 20 also I think.
