Any Farrell spoke to media after being announced as the next head coach of the British and Irish Lions for their 2025 tour to Australia, live on Sky Sports.
Former Wigan Warriors rugby league great Farrell has been head coach of Ireland for four years, first leading them into the 2020 Six Nations.

Cant give enough congratulations to Andy, more than deserved. Irish supporter grateful for what he has done for irish rugby andnim sure he can achieve similar success with the lions! We need a man such as Andy a former lion himself and coach and cut from the lions cloth and coming from the home nations himself thats a big plus for all involved and the fans! As good a foreign coach may be he can never truly be understand what the lions actually means to an Irishman, Englishman, welshman or Scotsman! Good luck Andy 🦁🏉🏆🥳💪❤️

Agree, what a load of crap. 4 nations taking on a country that lost to Fiji doesn't deserve any hype they could just send over Scotland to do the job and save millions on wasted money and time.

A brilliant coach and man-manager. A real man of the British Isles. The Celts will warm to him as much as the English boys. Started watching him as a stand-out player for Wigan in Rugby League. Great temperament. Has never changed in that respect. Fine choice by the Lions Committee.

Just so you know he's the irish head coach. If he's a true man of the British Isles then he may leave the irish players at home as they do not represent the British Isles.
I mean he's been in Ireland coaching for 9 years now in total. He's been head coach of Ireland for 4 years, I'm sure they know him by now

He only worked with him for a few months then took over his job, I highly doubt he learned much in such a short time

The Lions know who to pick as do the IRF. One day the RFU will follow suit.
Best thing is he’ll ensure the Lions will play a magnificent, thrilling brand of rugby, something that’s been sorely missing in recent series. Aussies will be hard-pressed to counter what he delivers.
