I had no experience with sign language at all until my baby was born with severe hearing loss. It's been such an emotional journey. I had no confidence in me successfully learning ASL in a timely fashion (even though I take weekly classes) until I found your channel. I love your tips on how to remember a sign and how you immediately incorporate the words into a sentence. I just get a much better grasp on how to sign with your teaching. I can't thank you enough for sharing your amazing gift!
So proud of your effort and willingness to do whatever it takes to communicate and raise your child. I pray for a supernatural ability to retain the signs and grow in fluency.
My daughter just grunted instead of asking for things and wouldn't turn when I dropped something or called her name. I was a special Ed teacher in FL before moving to TX and had basic ASL taught to me by a mom of one of my students. I was fascinated and kept trying to learn it by using books as a reference (not so easy). 8 years later my daughter was born with this hearing challenge and my thought was " God knows how strong I can be." I just taught her ASL and didn't look back. She is 19 now. She did have surgery at 3 years old, which corrected most of it. My son was born hearing but we chose to teach him to sign also. It is a special thing to know. My whole family signs a little. My daughter is studying to be an RN at A&M and wants to be that signing nurse that helps all deaf families with the compassion and empathy that comes from knowing what it's like to be in their world. You've got this.
I am loving watching these every morning with my toddler. I've been wanting to learn for a while, and figure it'd be good to have him watch too! He's so interested and actually tries to do some of the signs himself while he's watching:)
Twenty five or less is so much easier for me to do in one session👍 I don’t feel so overwhelmed, totally a newbie! And I like how you put the words to work at the end. Thank you 😊
I am 9 years old and would like to become a doctor one day, I want to speak with deaf patients as well and have learned 3 signs and I’ve only been watching for 5 minutes! I’d like to learn ASL to be able to communicate with deaf people! Thank you for your help!❤
Saw a lady in the grocery store who was extremely frustrated. She was deaf and was trying so hard to communicate with a worker. I wanted to help but I didn't know anything about sign language. I felt so bad for the lady. I didn't like not being able to help so I started watching your videos. My 8 year old daughter has started watching with me and she is learning too! Learning ASL has been soooo beneficial, my daughter and I communicate during her gymnastic class when she needs something but doesn't want to interrupt. Thank you so much for your easy to follow and fun videos!!

I’m sure they will cover some things I already know but I’m more of a in person type, old school I guess. I don’t know anyone that knows ASL that can help correct me if needed so having a teacher right there will help. I’ll still continue using your videos. Thank you!!

Hi I’m new in this channel and learning sign language, I have a question, why in the sentence “you work where you” you have to repeat “you”? And thanks for the answer
Hello! I’m not really fluent in sign language and it’s grammar, but I believe when somebody signs, “you work where you?” Saying “you” at the end finishes your sentence, kind of acting as a period in a normal paper pencil sentence. Hopefully this helps!
I came to the latest video to hopefully get a response. I've been wanting to learn ASL for a while, but giving up and restarting and giving up and restarting. Anyways I'm really going to push extra hard this time. My question is: Will people be able to understand the difference between what I'm signing and my tics? I have a tic disorder and I'm worried that if I tic while I'm signing it will confuse someone or they're going to think I'm mocking or something. Can I get your opinion on this please?
Hello, my daughter and I enjoy learning ALS from you. I am planning on my daughter learning and taking ALS as an elective for high school, But she has to use a good textbook for it also. I was wondering if you know of any good ALS learning textbooks that would be good for her?
The eyebrows show a yes/no question or a question that uses a wh word (who, what, when, where, why, how, and which). See if this video helps! ua-cam.com/video/fDV9Al8Fgjk/v-deo.html

I like the design of your videos. What ASLPI level are you certified at? ASL teachers are recommended to be certified at least ASLPI level 4 to teach ASL classes.
I've always wondered why in ASL the sentences sound mixed up with the signs. Like, "me hungry, restaurant you go. " instead of, "I'm hungry let's go to a restaurant.".. I call it yoda talk.. But.. Maybe someone can explain it to me😅. I love ASL. Have a pretty good dictionary with all the signs. I've taught myself allot. But also like these videos because, those dictionary's don't teach you, things like... How to phrase sentences. That's probably the hardest thing for me at this point. 😂😂😂
Hey friend, I work with a child with autism. He’s verbal but we use signs sometimes in the classroom when we’re supposed to be quiet. We’re both left handed. I’m sure you cover this but I wanted to make sure the sign meant the same. I’m embarrassed.
I feel like I need to see this with you facing the other way and in front of a mirror of that makes sense , my brain can't repeat the sign trying to make sense if it from how it should look from the other side , I don't know if that even makes sense
I've had some sign language & have a question about grammar. Why is "you" or "I" repeated at the end of a sentence? Also, how would a deaf person know or understand that I'm signing the sunject properly and not " backwards"?
I think you end the sentence you're signing with the same subject, "you" or "I", to show you're finishing the sentence, finishing what you want to say or ask about the person, yourself or the person in front of you
I'm trying to learn sign language, not because I'm HoH or deaf or CODA, not anything like that. I'm Autistic, so whenever I get overstimulated, like my social battery is drained for example, it hurts my ears to hear anything louder than a whisper. Talking is even worse because the sound of my own voice pounds in my head like a jackhammer, so I decided I want to learn asl because I feel as though the world is just too loud all the time
It’s been awhile since I took my sign class in college… I was just wondering why you repeat the subject/person? I’m sick. You signed it Me sick me. Instead of just signing it I’m sick. Or when asking the other person if they want to go to the restaurant you signed “you want to go you?” Just curious. Thanks for the refresher!!
Meredith. I looked up your skill share. No mention of price. Also if you type in asl nothing comes up. I think I’ll stick to with your UA-cam videos. I’ve learned a lot from them. Thanks.
There should be a vertical three doted line in upper right hand corner click on it. Once you've done that There should be an option called playback speed click on it, then you can the best speed for you. I hope that helps 😊
Lol. Me too. OK somewhere on the screen is the settings button. I touch on video and mine appears in upper right corner. Click there and all kinds of adjustments. Ha.
When using the opening and closing "me" why is it in the middle of the sentence instead of the end? Would it be incorrect to sign: me sick, need sleep me.?
I am deaf I have cochlear, interested in your program learning to sign, although… after watching your 25 easiest signs I’m hesitant to proceed. If the program has background music such as your 25 signs, I’m not interested, I find the music to be a horrible and unnecessary distraction.

Yes! Use your dominant hand for the signs. The meaning is the same.
Am very happy for sign language am trying to sign
What ise the purpose of there being `you` both at the end and the beginning of the sentence? is it to make it easier to understand?
It's kinda funny how "hungry" is the opposite of "giraffe". That's my first ASL joke.
Very cool 😊

When using the opening and closing "me" why is it in the middle of the sentence instead of the end? Would it be incorrect to sign: me sick, need sleep me.?
ASL is it's own language. It is not English. Hence why some words don't have a sign. It has its own grammar structure.
the L on the chin for who, i learned that as lemon, is that correct as well?
‘Lemon’ is ‘L’ with your thumb to the chin.
‘Who’ is ‘L’ sideways with thumb on chin, index finger moves quickly up and down, twice.
