If she was just some random girl from somewhere sylphie wouldn't have had accepted her just like that, but the fact that it was "the Roxy" that Rudy had always admired was a huge factor for Sylphie's acceptance.

Sylphie is taking it so well because she would have done the same. Back in Ranoa University, when first meeting Rudy, she thought he and Elinalise were lovers (her thoughts are not shown in anime though), yet she was hoping that Rudy can share some love to her.

@user-hg4gl3lh3h The point, my friend, is that even though he has this `´disease`´ of naughtiness, he made it clear in the last few episodes that he will NEVER! , would succumb to this, as he swore his love to Sylphiette saying that she was the woman of his life, there is even an episode that proves what I said, as Sylphiette told Rudeus that if there was no possibility of giving He could have a son, he could very well look for another woman, who she wouldn't care about. But what was his response after she made this proposal?, okay, love, am I going to have sex with another woman? ,NO! , he said he would NEVER!, he would do that, because if he were to have a son (or daughter) it would ONLY be WITH HER! and no one else, in other words, the story of the anime (for those who don't read the Light Novel) was heading towards a responsible family man, who loved his wife and was FAITHFUL! her but how did it end? , with a guy who is a scoundrel after all. That's why a good part of people (especially the female public) were outraged by his betrayal, understand!?.

I wonder if anyone is gonna notice the man-god was trying really hard to separate Roxy and Rudy ever since they were in the demon continent. All his advice conveniently prevents him from meeting up with Roxy. 1) in the demon continent, he told rudy to stay in and practice with his demon eye, so Roxy ends up finding Eris and Ruijerd WITHOUT RUDY. 2) When deciding to either go to begaritt to help paul's party or go to sharia to study and cure his ED, if he decided to go to begarit, he would have probably ended up with Roxy as the first wife and cured his ED anyways, but he didn't so he got sylphy instead. 3) turning point 3, man-god tells rudy to stay and get with the beast girls...

8:10 "F*ing and Saving combined..." What she did jolted Rudy out of the poisoned head space that he was trapped in. It didn't solve or resolve anything but just got him back to where he could function again. He still had and has that trauma to fully work out. Don't underestimate the embrace of a woman who loves you. Even leaving out the sex part she's heaven in your arms and men are willing to die to protect that.

10/10 Finale can't wait for season 3
As an anime only I dont see how Slyphie being accepting of Roxy felt odd at all.
1.Slyphie had spent at least 5 years with Rudy's family when he was away tutoring Eris, so she has seen how a poly marriage can work out.
2.Roxy is someone Sylphie knows Rudy cares deeply about and is not just some random stranger.
3.We have only seen Slyphie get mad only when it is something that would potentially hurt the people she cares about.
The candles were a reference to an escene episode 1, there was a focus to 3 candles first and then they moved camera to Paul and Zenith looking at Rudeus as a baby.
Here, the camera pans from thim to the candles.
It's like the inverse scene from that, as if saying they are now inheriting Paul's and Zenith's wishes.
Also, Sylphie WAS raised by Lilia teaching her etiquette from Asura and Zenith teaching her the etiquette from Millis, she also helped Zenith in the clinic as a healer. If you go to episode 8 of S1 you will see a young Sylphie getting incredibly well with Lilia and Aisha.
She literally grew up raised by the two wives and watching them being happy, plus she got along really well with Aisha, the product of Paul's "mishap", so from her perspective, she was surrounded by a "successful and loving polyamorous family", she even mentions in episode 6 of season 2 that she expected Rudy to look for more women.
From our POV it might look weird, but from her perspective that was a "normal Greyrat thing"
And don't even get me started what she witness for years with Luke Greyrat and Ariel in the Asura Palace, now that's some freaky stuff. In the novels, compared to that she told Rudeus that his "perversions were vanilla".
8:15 In the LN, she mentions that the _someone_ she was expecting would be among Pursena, Linia, and Nanahoshi, since they had big badonkas and sexy bods, so she was mentally prepped for an event like this to happen, especially since she got preggy as she knew she couldn't please Rudy's desires till then. Sylphie do be harboring jealousy way before they got married since she always saw those girls close to Rudy, she just looked calm on the outside lmao. Norn really cooked them so hard though that neither Rudy nor Roxy wasn't able to refute.

It's not mentioned much but from what I've picked up from reading various discussions in this world it is believed that Pregnant Sex is dangerous for the baby and is mostly not done.
In the LN's, one of Sylthy's lines always stuck in my mind 'Rudy doesn't keep his promises!'. Although the anime was short on time, she doesn't forget it or let it go easily as shown here.
Sylphie said it herself if the shoe was on the other foot and Rudy was married already she might have done the same thing Roxy did, that's why she couldn't get too upset. Monogamy is not the norm in that world unlike our own so we also have to take a step back with why Slyphie didn't react a wife in our world would have normally.

There is a skew to how the anime represented the context of Sylphie's expectations of Rudy compared to the light novel. There's been a lot of cut dialogue and content that narrows pretty much all of the context involving Roxy and this situation, but I'll just refocus on this instance, since I figure others have gotten to the other ones. Maybe. In *this instance*, the light novel clarifies that Sylphie knew that Rudy was a pervert, yes, but that this is not the reason she expected him to bring back a second wife. Very specifically, she expected Rudy to bring home a second wife - and wasn't necessarily opposed to it - because she knew that if he did take another woman, he would always take responsibility. If he did break their promise, she believed in his integrity to try to do the right thing because Rudy has always tried to do the right thing, even if it turns out wrong or backfires. This is why she expected a second wife. It's *still not right*, but it's a brighter take on Rudy than 'he's a pervert'.
Plus, I think it sums up the entire point of this story: this entire story - from beginning to end - is about a flawed person trying to be better. Rudy 'screwing' up but then trying to take responsibility is the parallel, and it's a trait Sylphie sees and loves in Rudy. This is why Sylphie is the GOAT. There may be better Waifus this season in anime, sure, but Sylphie is the best wife.
Also someone below did make a good point that I wanted to reiterate to make a distinction: the light novel did have Sylphie talk about Rudy breaking his promises. This actually goes on a lot because he's involved in events he could not possibly understand, predict, or prevent. His promises could never have been kept because he is ignorant when he makes them. So, he will continue to break promises :( BUT. I didn't say he keeps his promises. I said he tries to do the right thing. Like taking responsibility and to be honest and open about his mistakes and faults.
Just know that he doesn't become a paragon of humanity in S3 and beyond - he is still going to screw up, break promises, and fail over and over again because that's just what it's like to be human. Just be prepared for and keep an open mind. Others get mad at Norn and even more are mad at Roxy. I'm not mad at any of them - they have their reasoning and beliefs. No one has the whole picture. Parents just died, limbs were lost, tragedies unfolded. Lives were in danger and terrors were seen. Hope was lost and promises broken while fear ate at hearts. But the episode ended with a family, together, watching the stars. And that's kind of the point.
It makes sense that Sylphie takes the affair as well as she does. All the groundwork for the interactions in the finale had been laid throughout the series.
The country where Sylphie was born has a rather broad perspective regarding sex and accepts polygamy as normal. She grew up seeing how well Paul and his wives got along. After being transported, she became close friends to two hypersexual, promiscuous people, Ariel and Luke. She used sex as a means to reconnect with and heal Rudy. Elves have a difficult time getting pregnant (they were unusually lucky) and Sylphie herself suggested another wife for the sake of children. Rudy's promise of fidelity was made unilaterally. It made her happy, but she did not ask for it, accept it, nor expect it.
Personality wise, she is very open minded and empathetic: a care giver. She prefers doing things for others more than herself. Both Ariel and Rudy have a hard time getting Sylphie to vocalize her own desires. She usually just wants to do whatever they want to do. In addition, she puts Rudy on a pedestal and worries that she is inadequate. In other words, she is anxiously attached to Rudy. She prioritizes his happiness and well being. So if Roxy was able to help him when she could not, then she is able to not only accept her, but be grateful. Her biggest fear is not Rudy cheating, but him leaving her. She places more emphasis on emotional, rather than physical, connection. It really goes to exemplify Sylphie's grace and maturity that she can empathize with Roxy when others might lash out like Norn did. Sylphie can excuse using sex as a means to help Rudy, but accepts Roxy as a wife ONLY because she recognizes that Roxy deeply cares for him.
Sylphie may have been shocked and saddened, but she doesn't have any particular ethical, religious or moral qualms with Rudeus sleeping with other women. None of this is meant to excuse Rudy. He cheated, if for no other reason than he believes that he did and only got approval afterwards. Nor am I saying whether or not Sylphie and Rudy's relationship is particularly healthy. l merely posit that Sylphie's actions in this episode were informed by her attitude, history and environment presented in the anime.
As an aside, Norn's reaction was completely understandable, too. She is a follower of Millis and strongly believes in monogamy. Upon reuniting with Rudy, she was disgusted he was with another woman (Sylphie). Bringing home Roxy reopened that wound, adding to the emotional turmoil of having lost her father. It gave her an excuse to let out all the feelings she was suppressing since she could not blame Rudy for Paul's death. So she displaced and projected her feelings. Norn was forcing her beliefs onto Sylphie without asking what she thought. She was also spewing bile upon Roxy without understanding, nor wanting to understand, the full situation. But of course a 10~11 year old who just lost the most important person in the world to her would do such a thing. Kudos to her that she was willing to accept that she was mistaken when pointed out, even if it will take time for her to accept it emotionally. I am sure it was also comforting to Sylphie to see Norn become so angry on her behalf.
To add some LN knowledge, Sylphie had always planned on Rudy taking at least one more wife. After his promise, she said several times that she wouldn't hold him to it. She even decided that it would be her job to be the mediator and maintain family unity should he marry more women. Interestingly, in a weird way, she also sees Rudy as loyal even after introducing Roxy. The way she sees it, when Rudy eventually has an affair, he would take responsibility and try to do right by his paramour. All that said, Rudy (who still clings to Japan's mores) admits that if Sylphie had cheated on him, he would have broken down and probably raged much like Norn.

As someone who has been cheated on, I understand your disdain for it all. If I was put into another world, I would not cheat/engage in polygamy even if it was socially acceptable to. But yeah, empathizing with their reality, Rudy's life and experiences, they're all being reasonable and there isn't the underlying disgust that we have from our lives and our world. The concept of monogamy as a deeper expression of devotion and love is still within this world, as framed by Elinalise and the Millis religion, but in a life of adventuring, short life expectancies (outside of demons and elves) and some degree of medieval society, everything is pretty justifiable and easy to digest.
And frankly Rudy is a poorly socialized terrible person from his previous life, so his current state, flawed as he may be, is still pretty good. He's definitely not Himmel, but he's going through it.
The weirdest thing is that Rudeus is one of the most moral and ethical people in MT strictly because he's from our time. He's basically a saint compared to anyone else.
By the way, Rudi is the third wheel in that relationship
Just a quick reminder, Rudy was going to die without Roxy. It was explicit in the light novel he was not eating anything and he would just throw up food.
So regardless, how you feel, he was going to die if he didn’t get her .

Roxy has seen many mercenaries with lost comrades take comfort in brothels. She's aware it's an option against depression. Also she and the whole gang tried many other things to get Rudy up before going for the last resort.
Geese, Elinalise, and Talhand discussed helping him. Discussed how. Those three thought Rudeus would pull himself up. Roxy was the only one who knew the normal person Rudy and not the hyper competent facade of Rudeus. She knew he wouldn't be able to easily do it, if he could at all. That's why she took it on herself to lose her virginity in that way and then she was going to leave. It's only because of deception that Rudy ended up asking for Roxy to stay with him.

I totally get it from the anime only perspective. The anime does not do the Light Novels justice, but that's just how it is. As for why the anime made it seem like Sylphy is used to the idea of Rudy probably bringing another woman comes from her time with Rudy's family as well as her time aside Ariel. She had quite the upbringing in terms of perspective of relationships in her surroundings aside from her parents. She saw Paul and his relationship with Lilla and Zenith. Even she spent a lot of time with them while Rudy was educating Eris. Then there's Ariel. The anime left a lot of Ariel stuff from the Light Novels. Being aside Ariel, she was surrounded by many nobles that were polygamous. Both noble men with multiple wives and noble women with multiple husbands. Luke Greyrat had an harem of his own which was only very briefly shown in the anime compared to the Light Novels. She had been witness to polygamous relationships ever since she met Rudy's family. It became normalized in her eyes over the years.
Sylphie repeatedly says that she's fine with Rudy taking more wives. She says so in cour 1 and says that he can take a concubine in cour 2. It's just people not paying attention.
I think the anime does a great job adapting the LN, but yeah there’s a lot of details a context that gets left. I don’t think it necessarily ruins or lessens anything. There’s enough there for the viewer to price things together and make inferences and conclusions on their own.
In terms of Roxy having a crush on Rudeus and Rudeus being as low as he was, the sex thing is waay more than just sex, its the comfort you would get from a hug but much stronger, it wouldn´t be the same thing if it wasn't with Roxy. Just like any random girl hugging Rudeus would not make him feel any better, they bonded and became in love in that moment.
And I think the reason why Sulphy accepted Roxy so easily is because she was ultimately ready for Rudeus to cheat on her, like she said earlier in the season "I wonder if Rudeus would still chase after girls if he got married", this was when she still pretended to be Fitz and she also stated to herself that Paul did so why wouldn't he.
Sulphy was also ready for Rudeus to take a concubine if she couldn't get pregnant, so I think she was really relieved that it was Roxy, the one who taught Rudeus magic, and she has seen his dedication and statue of Roxy earlier, Roxy could also in Sulphy's eyes have saved Rudeus and her own life countless of times for teaching him magic and then him teaching Sulphy so she may feel indebted to her.

Roxy was told by Geese that men are simple in that having some booze and a woman to sleep with can solve a lot of problems, it wont fix everything and wont make the problem go away but it does help.
That's why she decided to sleep with him (they determined that Elinalize wasn't going to do it after learning their connection, and thought that a prostitute wasn't going to be effective in this situation, so Roxy on her own decided to do it to help him, and because she liked him).
The Psychologist that watches the show also mentioned that having sex can indeed somewhat help people in situations like this so it is what it is.
Also (part of) the reason Slyphie took it so well is that from a young age when she saw Paul she thought that Greyrat men needed to be with more than one woman.
That's not excusing the cheating though, regardless of any other factors he still cheated since he did it without expressing that intent with his partner after promising he wouldn't (even if she didn't believe him).
Her saying it's ok doesn't really matter since he promised her he wouldn't immediately after (and even then it was regarding her having a baby at the time).
11:20 I just figured this out while typing. Lucy is indeed derived from RU + SY as the way the L is normally pronounced by Japanese is "Ru" or "Rlu" (latter is trying to show the tongue in the right place but with the vocalization incorrect). So Lucy Rusy.

Its not clearly portrayed in the anime but before roxy did the "D" the party member had a conversation on what to do with rudy. Since hes been locked up in his room for more than a week not eating and just basically blaming himself. The conversation was what to do with him since they had to get home eventually, initially they know what rudy was like so they tried to set up elinalise with him, but she refused, they also thought to let him do a prostitute but theyre not sure a rando can fix him (recall the red head prostitute named elise recomended by soldat), they thought his wife could do it but shes not with them rn and they cant go home cuz of rudy, becuz traveling with more head to take care of (lilia,zenith, rudy) would endanger the party (with all the dangerous monster along with bandits on the way) so they'd either fix rudy now or just wait it out for a couple of months or years until they go home, and then roxy came to think (i'll save rudy along my party member even if it means giving out my "V" card, so we can go home). And proceed to the anime

I do not see it as poor Sylphie; never had. The main reason for that is Sylphie herself never looking at it that way herself.
Sylphie is a support person... be it Ariel or her growing up pre-teleport fiasco; her thing was caring for others.
But cutting the content that shows her working as a medic before being hit by the mana disaster and while with Ariel showing her guard her; they failed to properly convey how much she values helping others be happy and healthy.
Sylphie in otherwords is super accepting because she saw in being a medic and in helping Ariel that being accepted despite her own insecurities helped her become a better person.
By accepting Roxy (A demon) a midgit; a rival; concern of Rudys... well as she said she saw that Roxy was not this perfect being but like her a girl misunderstood by others; a girl of Rudys type. Not some big breasted bimbo to feel inadequate towards, but someone just as good looking (in the classical sense) as her self and someone with nothing else to work with.
I feel it was a sign that Sylphie loved Rudy more than anything; that she knew Rudy was not being unfaithful but rather fell on a moment of vulnerability that he regretted doing; and that Roxy and her are 2 parts of the same whole... just not the only 2 parts.
I will assure you that there is not many others that Rudy is willing to add to the family... it is limited and not just every girl.
As Lise said; it really just matters that he does not love one less than the others. All wives equal, to use for framework in the title to properly explain its more like "A"squared plus "B"squared equals "C"squared. all sides are equal so more wives less power Rudy has.
Also its just a cultural difference between that world and this. There poly is the norm and Millis is the minority.

I'm glad that Norn laid into Rudy since somebody needed to lay into Rudy at that point--if not for Rudy's sake, then for the audience's. I think that when they played nearly the same situation with Zenith, they did it better. Still, the last half of this cour was extremely rushed for all the events in the light novels, so it makes sense that they devoted only the first half episode to breaking the news about Paul and the second half to breaking the news about Roxy. So, yeah, it was rushed, but I don't think they had much choice given how short a cour is and how much territory they had to cover.
This entire season was butchered from the LNs. It'll be alright but it's not great. Anime only folks are going to have to put their isekai trash away and put on their psychology hat.

I think Shylphie accepted Roxy because:
it was roxy the master rudeus admired so much since a kid
she said if she was in the same spot she would've done the same
she as well as roxy understand how frágil rudy is, and is thankfull that roxy save him
and also maybe she didn't want rudy to lose another love one
if it was another random woman i don't think she would have accepted her
people need to realize that this is not the same world we live in. It's a Magical world where things like having multiple wives is not seen as wierd. Idk why people are so confused by that lol.
10:15 Sylphie's taking this so well because in this world it's perfectly normal (if you can afford it) to have multiple wives. What Rudy is doing is not strange at all for someone of his status and wealth. It's just strange for the morals of OUR world.

you just dont know the context of fucking plus saving in this show,you need to Read LN to understand more deeply.theres a lot of skipped content plus theres a bit change of the plot to be accept by the western audience..for example rudy decided to marry roxy was because ellinalise deceived rudeus by telling that roxy was pregnant of his child.but still rudeus love roxy but the pregnancy push rudeus more to marry her.Plus All of Rudeus"s wife have role on curing Rudeus illness.Slyphy help rudy with ED.Roxy help with Severe Depression.Slyphy can cure Rudeus"s ED because rudeus had affirmation that no matter what,slyphy will always accept and love him unconditionly.For Roxies You need to Know that Roxy is technically Rudeus"s goddess.not just Anybody can have sex with rudy and hes gonna be fine.it needs to be roxy.Plus theres a lot of Explanation and skipped content before they slept together.Because of the "WESTERNIZED" AUDIENCE.

ill recommend you after each episode you should read the Light Novel to really understand the context.if not you just gonna be frustrated every single episode.without knowing each character perspective.

100% agree that it felt rushed. They needed to show the family processing the situation more. It needed at least 1 maybe 2 episodes with lots of internal monologues of what everyone is thinking before coming to a conclusion like that. If I sit and think about how that world works, that multiple wives are normal in that world, Sylphie knowing that Rudy is a perv, that all Greyrats are pervs, etc. I can see how she would accept it in the end. But they need to show their work for how they get to that conclusion and not just leave something major like that to the viewers.
It is rushed but they wanted to spoil the season with OPs and waste time with EDs so that's what we get.
