i found these tactics to be much more challenging then the previous few, i was able to solve 5 out of six of them with around 2-3 minutes each. great video
These were challenging Rick, I managed to solve three out of six. Great videos as always I really appreciate what u do it really helps us to improve and enjoy the game more
I found 5/6. I found the second best line in the second puzzle by starting with bishop takes a6 which also wins material but doesn't force a mate. After you take the rook in the line you showed and king moves back to b7 you can play knight to b5 and mate soon follows in differing ways depending on how and if black takes the knight.
6/6 club. I find these help me analyze positions for who is better. I am not of a positional player, but if I see a tactic that wine material I go for it and go into trade mode. Then I trade the piece I won for two pawns and win with a connected passed pawn
Yes these puzzles were harder than the ones I did in the past. Will show puzzles of different strength, probably next time they will be somewhat easier again.
Great video! On Tactic #1 you specified “Play to win material”…On Tactic #2 you said “white to play and win” which was a forced checkmate.(So now I’m thinking you’re specifying to differentiate the meanings so therefore play to win is checkmate in my eyes) On Tactic #3 you said white to play and win so I was led to assume it was another checkmate…So I paused the video and disregarded pawn to D4 because It was play to win, not win material. Then when I unpaused the video because there wasn’t a solution you said “how do we play to win material”. *facepalm*
@@chesstoprogress8108 Nah. I'm pretty slow. I found each in less than a minute, not all. The Knight takes puzzle was counter-intuitive and very tough for me.
great video as usual rick! In the first problem solution should have included an exchange and a piece as black wins the bishop y rook check also after the exchange :)
I don't see how black wins another piece on top of the exchange. I assume you mean Re2+ wins the Bishop on g2. But after 4.cxd4 the black Knight on c5 is hanging, so Re2+ does not win a piece, but just exchanges one (Bishop on g2 vs Knight on c5)
Chess to Progress oh yes*!! 100% right no other piece win, o guess black Sacks the knight for b pawn and then picks up the Bishop, so another pawn then! Lol my Getout clause lol
I did manage to get 5.5/6 tactics, in the last one, I couldnt see clear solution, but as soon as you mentioned knight I paused it before you mentioned where it moves to and I could see the rest straight away once you see the idea :)
I will say one thing though, I absolutely dont consider myself anywhere near advanced player in chess, so I would say this is more medium strength, I would not expect to get more than 2 or 3 if it was advanced, players of 1700 and above should get atleast 5/6 here,
I gave this a thumbs up a year ago, but forgot about this one. It popped up on my UA-cam feed today. I got four out of six.
Good score Gill! I'm surprised that it popped up on your UA-cam feed. I wish I understood how those algorithms work. :)
Number 2: if two pieces are hanging, hang a third one! I immediately thought of this quote and quickly found the solution :)
Haha yes indeed Ralph, I should have mentioned that nice quote in the video!

Well done on your 5/6 rocker!
Qa4 Attacking the Knight b6 support the Knight Qe4 Making pressure on the Bishop and mateing on h7

well done on 6/6 Ben!
Excellent. I only solved the second and last puzzles. Clearly I have a lot of room for progress.
Brendan Ward my advice is to look for pins, checks, and mate threats.
Well done on solving the last one Brendan, which I found quite tricky. Nb4 is a beautiful move!
Thank you very much😁😁😁😁😃😃

Thanks for the feedback. Yes, I can see why that is confusing. Apologies. I will take it into account for future videos.
Great
Thanks Rubel :)

You're probably more advanced than you think. :) This level is really for advanced players.
