A few familiar faces in this one. Doesn’t look like much has changed in the 3 1/2 years since I left. Was fun to see the steps at Tower Hill. The night I met my now Wife in 1995 we parted company at the top of the steps. She watched from the top as I coolly fell on my backside and bumped my way down the second flight from the bottom. Still together over 29 years later so no harm done, except to my pride 🤣.

Tower Hill stairs are a killer when you are carrying shopping back from the co-op! I always stop halfway and pretend to look very interested in the plaque on the wall about someone being burnt as a witch I think?

Do they still have the traditional Guernsey market in the square? I remember when I was young, going to collect freshly cooked lobster and crab from the fish market, then popping into the states dairy for a cold milkshake.
Long gone unfortunately. The Government had the genius idea of modernising it and now it’s got a Co-Op and a clothes shop in, among others. Another irreplaceable part of Guernsey’s history destroyed by people with no clue and no accountability.
Does Guernsey have good hot summers at all or is it cold most of the time?? Ive got an offer to relocate from West Yorkshire to teach, but im not sure at all....

Hi, it will be around 15 to 20ish degrees but sometimes cooler so I would bring a mixture of summer and winter clothes. The weather can be a bit unpredictable 👍
May I ask what you mean by migrants, Bob? Because there are people from other countries there - somehow from countries that I wouldn’t expect can get a working visa (eg 4:50), when I’ve found it so difficult (and my heritage is British) - but.. are you referring to illegal immigrants? Because yes that’s interesting. However, legal migrants seem to be common there. Ross, agree?
