I love that you don't just take care of basic needs for your livestock but that you go above and beyond to give them comfortable enjoyable lives! Keep up the good work!
I used sand in the bottom of our outdoor aviary. They spent all day dust bathing in it, and scratching around, so it stayed extremely clean, and they never seemed to bury any of their eggs. I just used a modified rake as a large kitty scooper 3-4 times a year to sift out the waste chunks, and refreshed the sand as needed. Stayed perfectly clean, dry, and no smell!
I have sand in my stationary coop and wood chips in their run and there is no order at all. I was told that once a year it would require cleaning out and new sand but that hasn't been the case at all. They keep it stirred up and the sand dedicated their poop so much that after 4 years there has been no need for me to do anything else. I would never have any other bedding than sand in any coop holding poultry!
That looks like such a nice setup for them. They seem happy, running around, exploring, they're able to scratch in the wood shavings and some were interested in looking outside. So much better than being on wire, I'm sure. It's good to see people who Really care about giving their animals a good life, even if they are a food source. I hope it works out the way you want. ❤❤
We thought of telling you both that it will be a good idea to put a net on the inside of the ccop so when you open the door the quails will not fly out as they are birds they are very quick to fly off and they don't come back. We are from Srilanka and love your videos and have been big fans of you both for the last 4years all the best from all of us God bless ❤❤❤❤👍👍👍
I tell ya what; when I am able to create a space for a group of animals that allows them to do more of what God intended I feel so happy. I feel joyful that God has given me the animals and has given me the space, brains, patients, and time to create those spaces. Peace and Love Neighbors❤
Having had experiences with wily racoons If it were my door I would also put a lock on the bottom so a raccoon could not pull the door open at the bottom! I see a bunch of happy little birds!
Kevin I think you enjoy quail as much as Sarah enjoys the silky chickens. Whether it lasts long term or not you got to give it a go. Be well, Blessings 😊
What a beautiful sight! The quail definitely look happy with their new digs. You care for all your animals with great respect for their safety and quality of life. Thank you Kevin & Sarah for sharing & being responsible caretakers. Blessings
Just want you guys to know how very helpful it is for me to see you build this from start to finish! It makes me feel less overwhelmed about having to build one myself. Thank you!
What a nice looking home you have built for the quail, Kevin. They look happy and are loving the little hidey tents you made for them. Thanks for sharing. I hope this is just the perfect palace for them. Have a Blessed day.
Hi Kevin and Sarah. I have been watching your videos on you tube for some time and I want you both to know that I have thoroughly enjoyed all of them. I just today subscribed to your channel , I think that a couple like you that is not ashamed to let others know that you are a Christian deserves all the support I can. I also love the shirts that you wear,Sarah. You know the ones that have Bible verses on them.God bless you both and blessings to your channel. You will never know how much of an impact you have on others.
The quail house looks really awesome. I’m sure they will be very happy in that confinement for cleaning purposes. The only thing I could say might do different would be to put a vinyl floor on the bottom to help control, moisture to protect the floor and make it easier for sweeping.😊
Those look like happy quail! The only thing I would have added to your awesome coop is a layer of cheap linoleum floor on top of the wood to make it easier to clean out and protect the floor. I hope this method of keeping quail works out-- that's a set up I would love to build for my (future) quail. Thanks for sharing how you built it!
TIP: I've seen reviews, from bird owners, that installing linoleum on the floor, then whatever absorbing material on top, makes cleaning so much easier. Just thought I'd pass this along. God bless. 🥰🥰
I always put a piece of fencing or hardware cloth across the door opening so that they stay in when the door is open. I can just step over it. Works great.
What a GREAT JOB you both do...taking care of the animals you have...! You both ALWAYS try to do the very best for your animals and gardens you care for...! God Bless You Both...! 👍❤👍
Very please to see your quail getting a better quality of life. I’ve always felt sorry for them in their cages. I hope the new hoop coop is a big success.
It’s just lovely to see people who want the best for their birds create the ultimate space for quails, thank you for leading the way in which even the simpler birds deserve the best ❤
pro tip- change out the tarps for greenhouse plastic over the winter. 10/10 would recommend. We didn't have any winter lull in egg production last year, but they stop laying in the heat and humidity of summer, so they are still getting a break.
I chuckled at the comment, "It could be like an Easter egg hunt everyday, looking for the eggs." These are lucky quail. You always seem to have their best interests a heart!
I was curious about the amount of sunlight the birds would have too. I’m so glad you explained it. They definitely look happy. Many blessings to you and your family.
It's so cool to see all that you do for your animals. You took top notch care of all the critters at your first MO homestead. Having so much more land really gives you the space to do the above and beyond stuff that you've clearly always wanted to do. I'm so happy for ya'll and your animals! The quail have an awesome place to call home. Wonderful job, as usual😊.
I have to admire a man that can read criticism on the internet and then filter it and discern it and make improvement from said feedback. It's frustrating to watch some channels ignore the feedback, and then spend the next 2 videos explaining how they are working around said problem. 😂
What a sweet set-up for your quail. Even if the cleaning does become too frequent, the hoop coop has so many uses. It really looks like freedom for your new flock of breeders. May God bless you all!
The moat attractive place for them to lay in your current setup is behind your trash cans. I recommend blocking off that space if you don't want to move the trash cans every day. Looks great! I'm glad you moved to an aviary set-up. They are so much fun!
Really looks great Kevin and Sarah, sure hope it really works out great too. We do like watching all that you both do on the homestead because it show what it takes to keep the homestead running happily for everyone and keeping the produce and animals healthy for processing food for the harvesting. Stay safe and keep up the great work and videos around there. Fred.
I love getting to see the birds in there new home. It looks like they do love it to. I hope you make 1 more pen like that. So you can get all the other birds out there to.
This is so nice for them ... fresh air and such nice space! They are so pretty. They love the chips. They are hot . They do look happy! All the best to you all.
Great setup! Quail were my pandemic project. I raised them outside on shavings with sand bowls and some twig hideout tunnels. Most of mine laid their eggs in the hideouts. You are right they LOVE hay! I would greet them with a handful of mealworms every day. It was the way to their hearts. In the fall I would throw in any crickets I could catch. I also grew pea shoots for them giving their yolks a rich orange color.
Love the quail pen! When I had quail they really loved a shoe bin with sand in it for dusting in. Like what you have with hay. A fun thing to add as well is some tree branches for them to play and hide in.
It will be a great thing!!!! Critters like room!!! Just a suggestion; maybe in one corner pile a bunch of small twigs/branches, they’d love to hide under that!! Colene ❤️🤗
Living in Florida air flow is so important. I have found deer netting is the ticket for snakes. If they try to get in they get tangled. Works great around the garden too.
Your quail are going to love this!..The shelter looks amazing!.. We've raised ours on the ground since we started with a fairly large area covered and fenced with shelter and this year I planted barley while I had them in the breeding cages. It's so fun to watch them make little tunnels thru their "pasture". I have a UA-cam short of them running around in it.. Ours are on the ground and I just rake it out a couple times a month collecting the manure for fertiliser. Quail are one of my favorite birds to raise here on the farm.
They were fluttering, probably a bit hot or stressed out with the moving, but they will be just fine, that's a great place for them, much better quality life. Their home looks awesome, do they fight now that they are all together?. We love to watch them birds so don't be shy and show us a bit more footage, it's very soothing. 😄
Very nice structure and the necessities for feeding and watering the quail, even sturdy hiding places, nesting boxes and straw for nesting. They seem to love the area, I hope this works out for the quail and that you can enjoy them even more in Waddlesville. Be well, safe and much love to all ❤🥰🙏👏, thanks for sharing your journey.
Really great video today. Kevin your vision for a better environment for the quail turned out really well. I enjoyed watching them have the elements and room to run around and be able to have bird behavior. Great job!
What a beautiful home you’ve made for your quail. I do believe they are loving it! I love the passion y’all put into Waddlesville for all of your feathered friends! Great video! ❤️
Good Morning Kevin & Sarah, the quail are going to love their new home.Such a safe & secure home for them!Thank you for sharing this awesome project!🌷💕🌷
Looks great! If you end up needing to make a mini removable door to block the quail from escaping, perhaps you can make one that is a miniature version of the door you already have that hooks on to the door posts and easily lifts off to get it out of the way when necessary. That way quail will still be able look out through the 2 wire doors. The quail already love their new home.
I love that you don't just take care of basic needs for your livestock but that you go above and beyond to give them comfortable enjoyable lives! Keep up the good work!
a😂
I agree
Shame about the ones who lived out their days on horrible wire floors 🙁

Ash from a wood stove over the leaves wil get rid of the bugs

Just want you guys to know how very helpful it is for me to see you build this from start to finish! It makes me feel less overwhelmed about having to build one myself. Thank you!
SUGGESTION: I have seen others put down laminent flooring so it's easy to clean the base out. Just a thought. Cheers!
And now you need a Quail-cam.... so we can just sit and watch them ALL day!
You might want to put another latch on bottom of door so nothing can pull it out.
What a nice looking home you have built for the quail, Kevin. They look happy and are loving the little hidey tents you made for them. Thanks for sharing. I hope this is just the perfect palace for them. Have a Blessed day.

They look like very happy quail to me too!! Love Waddlesville!!! God bless!
You take such good care of your animals.
What a great home for the quail!! Like a five- star resort !
Kevin, have you ever used organic castor oil on your hands. It’s supposed to be really good for eczema.
Love how your animals are so well cared for! ❤️
They are so cute; I love to hear the males crow! Nice job on the coop as usual.

Seeing those quail free like that is so beautiful!!!

Well done on the new quail house! So darn cute! I wouldn't be able to process but so admire this video!! Nice job!!!
I couldn't process either, but I could cook them up for sure..Lol...

As always, I admire such skilled carpentry and planning work. I hope this works out well for you and the birds.
Quail are so cute. like having baby chicks all the time. They looked really happy to me .
Happy animals, I would say! Thanks for sharing!🤗💗🇨🇦

The quails looked so happy, scratching and nuzzling in the bedding!! So Cute. Don't quails like any type of low perches?
I really enjoyed this build, start to finish. If I had a life to do over, I would be a homesteader. Thank You for taking us along on your journey.
😃 great job, guys! God's blessing over you
Thanks for video. Loved watching the quail in their new home. They seemed so Happy
Really interesting. We live in the city and have wild quail visit regularly. They are so cute.
They look happy to me! Keep us updated on how they are doing please!
Good to see you happy with your quail in their new environment.

I recommend raising the door up if you are doing deep litter, that way the deep litter can stay in place when you open your door.
The quail definitely look happy

When I had my quail in a pen a lot like this they would lay in a covered little cubby. They did it on their own.
Good Morning Kevin & Sarah, the quail are going to love their new home.Such a safe & secure home for them!Thank you for sharing this awesome project!🌷💕🌷

How wonderful for the quail to have such an awesome enclosure! Thank you for sharing!
Great setup for the quails sure they are happy enjoyed seeing your dreams coming together. God's blessings.
Findly a quail video. I have mine in a hoop coop for the last 3 months. They love it. I put buckets with hay and they lay in it. 😊
