When I was a delivery driver, I found out one of my customers allowed her dog to sit on the counter as she cooked. One day she cooked a whole pork loin for me as a gift so I wouldnt have to cook that day. I graciously accepted her sweet gift and later fed the neighborhood cats that night. There was no way I could eat ANYTHING that was prepared by her and her dog in that kitchen no matter how much I liked this woman. God bless her...

I like the idea, too, of the one container dessert. And I agree with the others who said that they would remove the cookies from the tin. I would place them in a food processor to get a nice blended eggnog crumble for the crust and place it in a glass pie dish. Then follow her recipe minus the cat and the cheeries. I'd replace the cheeries with strawberries. Just my preference. Thanks for the idea! 👍🏽

I would take the paper out of the cookies and crumble them first. I'd use eggnog instead of milk when making the pudding, and pour all the pudding in over the crushed cookies. The cherry layer would be on top of that, garnished with the whipped cream.
I was thinking the same thing but with about a cup more egg nog than the milk the pudding calls for so it can soak into the cookies properly. Also I would line the tin with either parchment or plastic wrap or aluminum foil since those tins aren't designed for liquids and can rust. 😊

Those tins are often sprayed with a metal coating to make them look shiny and they can have a powdery residue in the folds of the tin. There is a good reason why the cookies are packed in a paper case, to stop them touching the tin. Best to use a food safe container for the dessert, especially if you are serving to friends and family.

Well, I made this for dessert to take to my friends' house for New Year's Eve. Since I loathe cherries, I decided to use diced peaches. I sprinkled some nutmeg & Cinnamon toast crunch cinnadust on the Cool Whip, too. Everybody loved it,& said they probably would've loved it better with peaches anyway. I think I'll make it again for Christmas day dinner @ my bestie's house. 🎉

A tip my grandmother taught me to make canned cherry pie filling taste more like homemade was to stir one tablespoon of sugar into it and add 1/2 to 1 tsp vanilla extract. As simple as it sounds, it really does transform and improve the flavor a lot.
@SN-sz7kw exactly...canned cherry pie filling is already sickly sweet I fully recommend doing your own pie filling with canned tart cherries, its so much better and you can control the sweetness...AND, no corn syrup in it It might be a little more expensive but the difference is more than worth the little extra work

My Dad (who has since passed) moved to town about 20 years after he and Mom divorced. Once when I was visiting him, he asked me if I'd like some eggnog. Of couse I accepted and he told me how much he loved it, and that he always made sure he had it in the house during the holidays. Mystery solved....now I knew where my love of eggnog came from! Now, when I'm enjoying my eggnog during the holidays, I'm always rhinking about Dad.

There's a reason they put the cookies in paper. Those tins are dirty, they have oil from the production process on them. They're never cleaned. So you should at the minimum was the tin before you make this in it.

The cookies come from the factory in the tin & an assortment of cookies are in each cupcake like sleeve. By filling the sleeve you can control how much Eggnog they absorb. Pie filling & Vanilla Pudding are mystery ingredients.(use what you like) Cat hairs are up to the Cook. Lol 😮😂
This is really cute, and probably tastes delicious! Would take the papers off first since you’re crushing them up. That way they don’t soak up any of the eggnog and make a mess, and no paper accidentally gets stuck in there. Lol. Also, I would make real whipped cream and stabilize it with a tablespoon of cream cheese. I just don’t like cool whip, but for those that do, have at it! It’s a really great idea for a pretty and fun dessert! 😃👍🏻🎄🥰
I'm not sure why you didn't take the papers out first. Allow the cookies to soak in eggnog a little longer and not use the tin. Otherwise, interesting dessert.
I think she was operating on the idea that the eggnog would be contained by the paper cups long enough for most of the cookies to absorb some of the liquid. If she had removed the papers first, the eggnog would go straight to the bottom of the tin and only the bottom layer of cookies would really absorb it. A better solution all around would be to break up the cookies into a flat layer (baking dish) and pour eggnog over all evenly.

Crush the eggnog soaked cookies & spread in a pie pan. Make the pudding with eggnog, add a lil nutmeg. Add eggnog, powered sugar & nutmeg to heavy whipping cream. This might be good.

The tin is not meant to have liquid ingredients in it. Depending on what you are putting in the tin, the food can absorb things from the metal and be toxic. Don’t do this this way! If you don’t believe me, put some mayonnaise on tin foil and leave it overnight in the fridge.

A tip my grandmother taught me to make canned cherry pie filling taste more like homemade was to stir one tablespoon of sugar into it and add 1/2 to 1 tsp vanilla extract. As simple as it sounds, it really does transform and improve the flavor a lot.

I fully recommend doing your own pie filling with canned tart cherries, its so much better and you can control the sweetness...AND, no corn syrup in it
It might be a little more expensive but the difference is more than worth the little extra work
@@SN-sz7kw If a canned pie filling is mostly corn syrup, adding cane sugar to it can help give it the... well, the TASTE of cane sugar. I would say just to get a better quality filling that has cane sugar already, but it might be too expensive or unavailable for some.

The cookies are from Denmark and baked with butter... hence the delicious flavour.
Very cool idea, but for the love of Mike, make it in a glass or plastic container that is food safe, not that janky metal thing.

As a person who can't eat sugar without dying (literally), the whole recipe is horrifying, but looks delicious.
Aside from how it was made do you think you could use the egg nog with graham cracker crumbs or digestive cookies? I find plain digestive cookies grated make a great base instead of graham cracker crumbs.

I can't wait to try this recipe, it looks yummy and I love eggnog! No one in my family liked it, and I wondered why I liked it so much. My Dad (who has since passed) moved to town about 20 years after he and Mom divorced. Once when I was visiting him, he asked me if I'd like some eggnog. Of couse I accepted and he told me how much he loved it, and that he always made sure he had it in the house during the holidays. Mystery solved....now I knew where my love of eggnog came from! Now, when I'm enjoying my eggnog during the holidays, I'm always rhinking about Dad.

There's a reason they put the cookies in paper. Those tins are dirty, they have oil from the production process on them. They're never cleaned. So you should at the minimum was the tin before you make this in it.

The cookies come from the factory in the tin & an assortment of cookies are in each cupcake like sleeve. By filling the sleeve you can control how much Eggnog they absorb. Pie filling & Vanilla Pudding are mystery ingredients.(use what you like) Cat hairs are up to the Cook. Lol 😮😂

This is really cute, and probably tastes delicious! Would take the papers off first since you’re crushing them up. That way they don’t soak up any of the eggnog and make a mess, and no paper accidentally gets stuck in there. Lol. Also, I would make real whipped cream and stabilize it with a tablespoon of cream cheese. I just don’t like cool whip, but for those that do, have at it! It’s a really great idea for a pretty and fun dessert! 😃👍🏻🎄🥰
I was thinking hard butter cream on top. BUT, as a mom of six kids, the cool whip version is something easy that I know the kids would have fun with.
I'm not sure why you didn't take the papers out first. Allow the cookies to soak in eggnog a little longer and not use the tin. Otherwise, interesting dessert.

I think she was operating on the idea that the eggnog would be contained by the paper cups long enough for most of the cookies to absorb some of the liquid. If she had removed the papers first, the eggnog would go straight to the bottom of the tin and only the bottom layer of cookies would really absorb it. A better solution all around would be to break up the cookies into a flat layer (baking dish) and pour eggnog over all evenly.
This lady knows exactly what she's doing. People getting triggered and commenting was the whole aim guys. Either that or she really has no clue about hygiene or how to actually bake.

Crush the eggnog soaked cookies & spread in a pie pan. Make the pudding with eggnog, add a lil nutmeg. Add eggnog, powered sugar & nutmeg to heavy whipping cream. This might be good.

Those tins have a lot of metal in them. I wouldn't recommend using them. Heavy metals are very damaging for the organs.
This is why I never eat from the lady at work that always brings cakes but has a house full of cats and dogs lol
The tin is not meant to have liquid ingredients in it. Depending on what you are putting in the tin, the food can absorb things from the metal and be toxic. Don’t do this this way! If you don’t believe me, put some mayonnaise on tin foil and leave it overnight in the fridge.
