A thing from the HFY subreddit, where said AI did everything it could to delay the door opening sequence, for about... 7 seconds real time? Certainly sounds familiar.
The thing that would make this ship seriously terrifying is that it's comprised of so many things. This mess of a craft that looks more like a sprawling station shows up, and you can still see the impact marks of micrometeorites, the scorches from the fires it's suffered through, the twisted seams where new metal was stitched onto the old of the previous ship when it was first dragged together. Look closely enough and you'll see that some places retain the original material, repaired where necessary, while other places bear marks of patched holes intentional and not, others show where equipment was before relocation or decommission, and still others are just portions of other sections entirely bent into shape. It's surprising from the outside that there even are humans on board, and more still that it seems designed by something intelligent - there's reason, however incomprehensible, behind some of it.
Rimmy starts the game in full explorer mode. By 24:00 he's already turning it into an average session of Space Station 13. EDIT: And just to prove my point, when attacked by a hostile drone, his drones greytide the intruder to death with improvised weapons long before Security can arrive. Perfect!
