@@0o0_27 A couple of years ago Mamamoo performed a parody of Bruno Mars' song Uptown Funk wearing the same clothes and black face paint during a concert in Seoul. The clip surfaced when they performed at KCon - they apologized not realizing that this was offensive. This was after Solar appeared in a drama as a beggar with a very suntanned dark face. Hwasa also got some flack for singing a Beyonce song that had the N word. I think most people realize that these were unintentional things, but I have heard a few African Americans who stopped listening to them

In the case of blackface, they really have no idea in Korea about how it was used in this country to humiliate blacks (although not every entertainer who used it understood its negative implication). I think the N word is an issue for a lot of people in foreign countries who hear it in American rap and hip hop songs - again, they don't understand its a term of denigration - I think because its used by hip hop so much they think its a slang term that is positive. To be honest a lot of younger latin, white and Asian kids grow up hearing it w/out understanding it - thats why educating them is so important. Its funny because misunderstanding creates problems - for instance when you first hear the word naega - which means I in Korean. (By far the funniest thing I ever saw in kpop was the teaser for SNSD (Girls Generation) I Got A Boy mv - Sunny wore a baseball cap that said "Motherfuc*ers". (They've since blured it out). You can bet whoever chose that cap had zero idea what it actually meant
