2020 user here. Still using one of these, honestly the best laptop I've owned. Mine is running 250gb SSD, I5, Windows 10. Love that it has an optical drive. It can even edit video. Amazing machine, and you can pick them up pretty cheap these days.
@@brahimsaad6287 windows 10 updating with new thermal paste and clean fan it goes up to 80°C, so u may want to know it may not suitable for beyond 5 years. For next 2 years it's fairly still usable with windows 10.
The bottom is magnesium not plastic, but it has a thick coat of paint so you can't tell, the upper part and the palm rest are aluminium. If anyone's on the market for a used laptop put this on your shortlist, it's a great machine, better than the ThinkPad X230.
I got mine for 250 euro 3 years ago and I can only say: It was a great deal, obviously it isn't a gaming laptop but I love the amount of different ports and the design is nice and robust. Especially when opening the device, you see everything, there isn't anything extremely hidden. It is easy to replace components and easy to expand the ram to up to 16 GB. Luckily mine was delivered with windows 10 installed so I didn't have to do any upgrading.
@Nick Preveza . I owned a 2012 13" Macbook Pro with optical drive. It cost me 2x as much as the 2570P but was inferior in most ways: had the trademark annoyingly glossy LCD, higher power drain with shorter battery life coz of USB (rather than PS2) keyboard mouse interface, no NBD onsite warranty and a soldered CPU you could not upgrade, needed to buy a Win7/8 license too and was a more fragile unit. It was an easy decision to offload the MBP and keep the much better 2570P.
Do these have dull screens like the 8560p? You have to turn it to fill brightness to have decent view? What's the screen backlight technology to these?
How are you, do you have a copy of the BIOS software for the hp calculator size 12-elite book2570 and if you have, can you send a copy of it, please. I need a copy of the BIOS, thank youز
Using it right now in 2024, and surprised how long it lasted. But it's on the verge of life and death, as the laptop's baterry life is so broken it shows 0%, and it didn't lie. The second I unplug that charger, it turns off. And no not like shut down, but just no lights, and black screen. The environment I am living right now is also not good for the laptop, as it's so hot here, the laptop would be so hot in just 1 minute after starting it up. Noise is low though which is good if you don't want to disturb others. Performance is also good but you can only play games for low end devices.
Love the looks of this laptop, looks very professional and looks like it can take a beating. I agree with that windows 8 is not meant for business, its just inefficient and I think win 8 is just ugly. Anyways thanks for the review!
when i plug my display port to hdmi there is no sound on tv ? did anyone face the same problem and what's the solution to it ? am running it on windows 10
I've liked this review till I heard "Windows8 hasn't proven yet it s good for business" !!! it s been here for only two months, I've been testing it for more than a year including the pre-release versions with a PC that has exactly the same form factor as this one, and strictly for business , and it did prove that it s good for business !!! tired of this kind of people !
I think thats a bit too much of a generalisation lol just because its purpose built for business doesnt mean HP can make zero effort with making the laptop look like its from 2013, instead of 2003.

which one would you recommend over the other, the 2570p or the 2540p?
Go for the 2560p or 2570p if you can.
The 2540p is a completely different design and I wouldn't buy one now when the newer models are also cheap.
appreciate the advice
it's an interesting machine and good looking but heave and somewhat inefficient which is normal for older laptops

It doesn't look like for this day and age.
this looks outdated in my opinion, not modern at all.
