    Thought I'd say your vids are excellent. I was in homebase paying at the tills and got talking to this guy who saw me get out of my black 5 series earlier on. He wanted to know how I manage to keep the paint work looking like a mirror. I told him I always follow the advice of Mr forensic detailing 😀

    I so enjoy your watching your channel Jon and the knowledge that you impart to others. I bought the Ultra high definition wax and tried it today. My car is 38 years old and I would polish by hand, that is until I took your advice and bought a Rupes bigfoot 15 polisher. My heart was in my mouth the first time I used it. Within minutes I was comfortable with it. I therefore polished then applied the wax. My car has never looked this good, the car is now a mirror finish. If you tell me how I can upload a picture for you I will be delighted to do so. I have also bought Bilt Hamber and Angel wax products due to your recommendation. I can't thank you enough for all your advice to a novice like myself. All the very best and regards.

    Another great video John. Really informative as always. I bought the HD wax last Sept & was pleased with it but from the sounds of things AG have stepped up on that wax significantly. I'll be using Fusso this year based on your previous recommendation purely for its hydrophobic qualities however I'll be testing this product out down the line. Keep up the great work. Cheers Mark 👍🏻

    Good review. Only thing I’d add is that important to polish the car in advance of using the HD wax. I started to use it on a brand new VW Beetle straight from the showroom and was shocked at how pitted and stained the paintwork was deep down - obviously spent months outside in the Mexico sun I reckon. I started over with a polish (Mir in blue bottle, my favourite) to clean the car first and remove the rough pitted spots. Then when properly cleaned, I applied the Autoglym HD and was well pleased.

    I used this for the first time this week I didn't read the instructions, I know, my bad. I didn't mist the applicator, I used it sparingly, thinking, if it needs it, I will add another coat, so glad to see you mention thin application. I didn't let it 'crust' I did half the bonnet then buffed off and followed suit over the rest of the car. the results are still fantastic though, and its been non stop rain where I live since. hubs and I have the same car, and you can really see the difference in the way the rain reacted, my bonnet had half a starburst pattern, whereas his, the rain sat over the whole panel. as soon as we get a dry day I will rewash and reapply another coat, properly this time. Might even do his car for him too ;)

I have had NO ghosting, which has been a big problem for me with other waxes. Thanks for recomending that product for me, i enjoy putting down a nice layer of protection. Also the paint is seriously slick to the touch, possibly the slickest ive ever felt..cant wait to see the hydrophbiditiity later.

    Great video, really interesting listening to what you had to say! I have a pot of High Definition Wax that is just lasting forever, so I won’t be able to buy the Ultra HD wax any time soon as it would be a shame to waste 3/4 of a pot considering how much it cost! Glad you mentioned about the flakes of wax indicating you are applying too much as I had that problem and thought it was because the car was still dirty after wash and polish so will try to apply less by keeping my applicator wetter!

    From the USA.............. Auto Glym brand is not the easiest/most available to purchase within the USA to put it mildly. That said, had the benefit of purchasing a tub of HD Wax a few years back, objectively speaking and without question, it IS beyond nonpareil!! Absolutely phenomenal in terms of net result AND exceptional durability!!! Said durability has surpassed two outstanding acrylics that I also use. If a new wax is now at hand, I implicitly trust the chemists to have achieved even greater net results. Cheers............

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  5 років тому

      its a real problem isnt it. when like products from the UK go to the USA, or vice versa. theres a cost added which can make that product less competative. The autoglym waxes are all about being nice to work with and easy to use. Soft to the buff.

      WaxMode But it's no Fusso Coat or 845😂

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  6 років тому +4

      those are too very well known, well used products that give good long term durability performance, but autoglym would or could never get away with selling products like this. 845 isnt temperature stable. And it has a tendency double cures on you. you get list a delayed cure haze with it the next day it needs rebuffing. I used it a fair bit many years ago it was developed to insulate electrical cables. I would not use it again personally. (915 I like though). Fusso has a few issues around application, get it wrong and you can make your car look like a smeary ghost wax trails from all the parafin. (they do have other waxes in the s99 range that dont have this problem though)

    • @kenlawton1531
      @kenlawton1531 6 років тому

      Forensic Detailing Channel Yes if you're not careful or apply to much of either product, as per most products, it can be a hassle. I've had good luck with both Fusso and 845 (which I apply with a DA with no issues at all) I've heard of the need to 're buff 845 but I've never had to do it. I wonder have they improved the formula? 🤔

    • @WaxMode
      @WaxMode 6 років тому +1

      Hey Ken, yeah I love Fusso! And I wish I could be much more carefree with 845 and avoid the hazing and holograms. But the hunt still continues for that best waxer's wax. Combining the qualities of an addictive smell, ease of use, insane beading and decent durability into a wax that I wouldn't mind using every weekend for relaxation. So with this Autoglym Ultra HD - I would be looking at this to compete against Zymol Glasur as that all around top notch balanced waxer's wax with a ridiculous ease of use level - Glasur currently holds that title for me.

    Lots of people say to me that Autoglym are decades behind other competitors with all their existing products. Do you think this is true? and if there is some truth why do they not develop further, given they are easily the biggest brand in car care, and have been for many years. They must have the money for development? Keep up the great videos, I’ve watched every single one! Tom

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  6 років тому +2

      everyones got their opinion. Lets say they do more product testing in one day generally than most detailing brands do in a lifetime. Their capability and expertise to test is completly beyond any other detailing company. They have more full time qualified chemists in their lab than most have staff. The facility in letchworth runs flat out. They developed EVERYTHING in house. They are ISO compliant (dont know of any other detailing companies that would put themselves through that). they work with car manufacturers to advise them on all areas of cosmetic maintainance of cars. they get attacked because they are the biggest. They became the biggest because they know what they are doing.

    • @tomcameron69
      @tomcameron69 6 років тому +1

      I agree. I do use a few of their products and I’ve always found them to be of a high quality for my needs. I think you’re right, people like to attack the big boys, banks, Manchester United, the conservatives, it’s really just jealousy I think. I’m ISO compliant for my field of expertise so I understand how hard that it is to get, essentially for an established company with older practices and procedures, and you need to have a lot of financial backing to go through that. Bottom line is a lot of the newer detailing companies go bust very quickly, whereas Autogylm haven’t, so they must be doing something right. Thanks or the reply, I had suspected people who think they know more than science were incorrect. Keep up the great work. Can you do something on traditional sealent with a paste wax over the top, is it worth it? Is there a good product combo to look at? I am considering chemical guys sealent plus bilt hamber double speed as a good combo, but I’m unsure. Thanks mate.

      cheers tom, theres lots of cool brands out there
      I dont use autoglym for everything because their range has to be safe and easy to use as a major priority because its sold WIDESPREAD to guys that are not professionalk detailers (with their resale range). So theres stronger solvent cleaners, perhaps more potent detergents and more concentrated bulk offerings etc.. but the products Ive used have been good. Aqua wax, egp, srp, HD UHD, fast glass, etc..
      I need to check out more of their stuff because to be honest Ive not used that much of the other products. I want to try their ultra high def shampoo and the fallout remover and things like that as well..

    I’ve got an idea John - perhaps you can start using grid girls at the start of your videos, as there’s now a few looking for something else to do... The worlds going mad...

      budget is tight on the channel but I could maybe borrow a boob tube and a pair of spandex from the misses and stuff a couple of water mellons down me top.. wont be quite as good as the grid girls but its the thought that counts!

    Sound Jon. I have halk a tub of Swissol, or Swiswax as it may have changed to, its good suff if warm and not too cold, goes on great and comes off well.
    Bottom line for me is I do not want a two year wax and nothing to do between. Autoglym are no mugs, their products are decent without thrills. Fast glass is as good as many others for one.
    £55 for AG Ultra, Swissol £200. Easy question, “Is Swissol 4x better?” Buying the costliest is not always the best.
    From your Vid I will buy this AG Ultra and wax 3-4 times a year. Unless I’ missing something, looks a no brainer.

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  6 років тому

      your right.. but like its the same for everything. so like a 600k zonda or koenisziggazagga isnt "that" much better than a gt3 rs. sainsburys cornflakes aint too bad compaired to kellogs. P diddies "unforgivable" aftershave (what a name lol, the new fragerance by sean john is unforgivable *waves hand and pinches nose") is no better or worse than like bulgari and they all cost 10p to make.
      but a good wax, thats well developed and well branded and functional is cool.
      The chemistry of UHD is incredible so damn soft to use. And time and time again you hear people attacking autoglym for the same old crap. very few guys in the world could make a wax like this. I also find the swissvax waxes really desirable and want to own them even though I know they are not worht like 1k. but thats part of good branding establishing a reputation for excellence and offering high end products.

    • @tony.775
      @tony.775 6 років тому

      Ditto Jon, that’s how you can make money with your UA-cam vids, doing some testing,comparing and publishing them. I have found in detailing products, as a whole with just a few exceptions none very few are “dogs”. Biggest difference is in Branding and price, then personal preference. They alk work, some easier, some a little better, but it gets down to splitting hairs a lot!
      I will not replace my Swissoll (now Swissvax) purely on the exhorbitant cost. I will decide if its 4x better after I use AG Ultra and decide.

    Hi again I have finally finished machine compound and polishing my silver ford fiesta ST. I have done 5 panels but I forgot to dampen the pad that you get with the product and me being me didn't read the instructions. I put a coating on the first 2 panels then went back and puff it of. I did do the finger swipe and it did come of clear in places that were put on thin. Do you think I should go back over the panel that I have done already because I may of buff it of to early and all so would it harm the paint by going over it twice. Because it's a light silver car it's very hard to see where I have been. It probably would be easier to see it if I'd damped the application pad that came with the wax 🤦🤦. What would you advise me to do??

    yeah great review and that silver really comes up well ! Do you know if the finish it is a big improvement over standard HD wax ? I have half a tub of standard HD wax but considering this. However seem to be struggling to get a hold of it !?!

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  6 років тому +1

      I dont have HD wax to compare it too.. but its been formulated to add more gloss than the HD wax (which wouldnt have been easy to achieve). Id have to get them on test panels side by side but even that has limitations with my setup to be able to measure it. but the finish the wax leaves is superb.

    Hi Jon,great review as always,I'm going to be using some of this wax on my black Audi,but first I'm using megs ultimate compound,then ultimate polish,then the wax,what I'm asking are these two compatible with each other,I remember hearing you say the wax works with the srp,but how about the u/p,I do have srp at hand also,I can't find any info on this,thanks .damo.

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  6 років тому +1

      hey damien. totally compatible mate. In fact good combo.. so compound and polish as required.. wax can pretty much go on next. If you want to after your final polish you could degrease the surface with a cleaner product. You could also use super resin polish after the final polish (although some will say less point using a filler after a good machine polish) but it will still improve gloss and bring up the finish more and the wax can sit on top of it no problems.

    Hello can you do a comparison between the extra gloss protection and the ultra high definition wax?? Thanks a lot :)

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  5 років тому

      go with EGP if on a buget and UHD if you like waxing and repellency. EGP is a solvent based wax emulsion. Its essentialy wax thats more disolved down to a liquid.

    • @amarsbarr
      @amarsbarr 5 років тому

      @@ForensicDetailing thank you for your reply I understand how good the ultra high definition wax is but doesn't the extra gloss protection repel water better as it's so glossy and liquid and it's advertised as 'super tough protection' where as the wax is more for the deep shine? Carnauba wax is natural and that's in the ultra high definition wax where as the extra gloss protection is synthetic and therefore better able with rain and repellenancy. I applied two coats of extra gloss protection and I've never seen rain run better off the car with the extra gloss protection even the roof had huge big water beads that were just sitting there and when I drove a couple miles the car was virtually all dry and smooth. And I wondered is this product better than ultra high definition wax. You say the wax gives 6 months protection as does the extra gloss protection but which one creates the deeper shine and beads water off so well? It's a fine line between the two. This is why I would love a comparison review hehe

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  6 років тому

      only applied on top of SRP on the bonnet. it all just looked glossy.. but would be worth going over the car with SRP if it was a bit hazey/light swirling perhaps and you dont have a machine polisher to do the correction.

    I have the old HD wax and it is a yellower hue. Have a couple of problems; It's sat loose in the tub now and wondering if i can melt it down then let it reset? Also the red applicator sponge goes hard.

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  3 роки тому +1

      take red applicator pad to sink run hot water, steaming hot water into the sink. put a squeeze of fairly liquid into sink. soak applicator in hot water for 20 minutes. take out of sink brush it with old tooth brush and hot water to flush all the detergent and melted wax out. Or buy new applicator. dont remelt wax you will be heating solvents and breathing them in and damaging your lungs. if you cant scoop up the wax in the pot its time to buy another pot of wax mate.
