I remember him quite well. Jesus, he had everything, I think injuries curtailed his England career to be fair to Shearer. To be honest, those two together would have been some partnership.

Michael Henaghan too right!! He was strong, fast and he could score from anywhere. Sad thing is he never really got a chance at international level and he had too many injuries. Imagine if Messi, Ronaldo etc. scored goals like that, we'd be rattling on about their 'genius'. Hirsty was a fantastic player, worthy of far more praise than he ever got.

Even as a Wednesday fan, probably best not to compare with arguably the two best players in history. They'er another level. But the thought of Hirst and Shearer up front in their prime makes me so sad it didn't happen! If he stayed fit Wednesday might have won something of note during that period.

Unfortunately, they were arguably the two best English strikers of all time. Hirst was brilliant but had nowhere near the career of Lineker and Shearer. If it weren't for injuries, or if he'd joined Man Utd, maybe it would have been different.
