I haven't gotten an axolotl yet but I am glad I ran across your videos you have taught me alot I have my tank setup and my water is cycled I will continue watching your videos thank you for all the good information I wish you were here in the states but then I would not hear your accent which I loved thank you Frankie I hope you are doing well I have not seen any current videos they're always a couple years old I hope you get back on here or I find them God bless you
I am pretty much a hypochondriac when it comes to my axolot. He’s such a baby but I always think somethings wrong because I’m new to the game. He does display some minor red veins. Still have no idea how to keep the ammonia down so I keep in a tub with an airstone. He feeds very well... I just changed him to feed him maybe I didn’t sit the prime in the water long enough.... god I hope he’s ok. He’s not curling his gills but they’re super red due to high activity.
My axolotl has not wanted to eat since last Wednesday. She also sometimes falls on her side or stands upright. I am now using the cold water technique, but I have also noticed that her back legs are just dragging behind her, almost as if she is paralyzed. I want to help her so bad, but I've already done everything I could do. In the shop where I bought her they think she is constipated
oh my, I also have a strange phobia to cotton wool! I thought I was the only one! anyhow, thanks for the very informative videos! I’m so glad to finally have a source to come to for my axolotl care!
So my axolotl, Bob, is a rescue and when I got him his gills weren't fluffy and over the time I've been caring for him his gills have only gotten worse. I don't know what caused this or what I can do to help, any info?
Hey there, I found my axolotl growing something only akin to more skin on its stomach? Is that a bad thing? It has these flowers growing on its stomach, not to be condused with a bulge or cotton wool, straight up flowers.
I swore by seachem prime, cold water, liquid Indian almond leaves and tubbing to help heal any issues but of course regular testing of water is essential and vet if necessary
I just moved my axolotl to a 20 gallon- he has a chiller - HOB filter and sponge filter - parameters are good - he was doing famously for the first week - then I did a water change - 20% - I also siphon daily - and now my boy has fungus ... is there a way I can treat him in his tank - he lives alone in a bare bottom tank with artificial plants and those that are real are floating so I can take them out and put them back in
Fridging works well. Usually the difference between a floating axolotl and a bloated/impacted axolotl is that if they are just floating they seem calm and not irritated. If they are impacted or constipated they will usually float tail up and seem really irritated. If they’re doing that put them in clean water in the fridge, and usually within a few hours they are all better.
Can someone please help me my axolotls tank had a ammonia spike and half of his gills fell off and hes very lethargic and not even interested in food when normally he'd eat anything
Hey dude. I’m new to the Axolotl world & im having a problem with my baby/juvenile. He’s about 10cm long. Stopped eating today & is very inactive. Noticed after he comes up for air he sinks super fast & goes belly up on the bottom of the tank. He’s a dirty Leucistic & i noticed his veins are very red & even his head is turning a shade of red. I put him in the fridge around 6pm then got home from work at 11pm & found him belly up in the fridge. I removed some water to help him stay upright. I know you’re not a vet but your expertise outweighs mine. Do you have any idea what caused this? Or what I can possibly do to help him? Thanks in advance. Ammonia, Nitrite, & Nitrates all at 0. Temp is 19.8 degrees
I’m so dumb 😭😭😭 my ammonia spiked and my Axolotl is pale like a ghost and his gills are pale he is a leusistic but gills shouldn’t be this white and he barely moving in quarantine tank. His gills r still moving and I have a air stone going in his tank so he has some oxygen. But is there anything I can do to help him 🥺 he’s my first Axolotl and I love him so much I don’t want him to pass away.
Hello! you may have encountered something like this. axolot lives with us for 6 months, for the last 2 weeks refuses to eat, and a soft lump appears on the head. the water has changed. gills are pink, there is no rash on the skin. axolot is relatively active.
Hi I haven’t watched the whole video yet but I have a Mexican salamander and he is like wobbly? He is kinda week and I’m scared for him he is so small and weak
My axie is pooping this clear jelly and very agitated. Fingers are turning pinkish red and he is trying to flip upside down. Any chance you know what’s wrong?
I just got an axolotl today and she was pretty calm at first and just explored but when I started feeding my bearded dragon who’s a couple feet away from her tank and she starts swimming up and swinging her upper body back and forth pretty fast, is that something to do with the bugs I was feeding my bearded dragon or does that sound like something unhealthy? The ammonia is a tad bit high but shouldn’t be high enough to be bothering her from what me and my mom have researched. Also I just started watching your channel and it’s helped me a lot and helped me understand her more, especially your video about enclosure decor :)) keep up the good work
Hi Alayna, many thanks for your comments and kind words, I appreciate your support so much! By what you've explained it sounds like your axolotl may be what I call 'flashing', this usually occurs is something isn't quite right with either the water parameters or maybe the temperature. Has this since subsided? Or are you still seeing this behaviour? Let me know and we can talk further to hopefully figure out what's happening. Thanks again for your support! :)
Frankie's Aquatics she hasn’t been doing it since but we are still having difficulties getting the amonia down, the nitrites are 0 and the nitrates are around 20 and both regular ph and high range ph is good. Do you have any tips for getting the amonia to lower? It’s been a little below .25 since I got her. Would it be better to move her to a smaller 10 gallon while I get her 20 gallon at the right perimeters?
Hi there, so I can’t find anything that matches what’s going on with my Axies... I think it’s a fungus, but it’s not in their gills? It’s like little starburst on their body and I don’t know what to do!
Hey bro, just got axolotl Sat, 2 days ago. Little guy is about 1.5 inchs long. He doesnt move much, like, he sleeps alot. Water temp 68, sponge filter, water conditioned properly, just doesnt do anything. Tail straight, has color, just lazy?
Could be hyperthermia opposite of hyperthermia drop the temp to about 56 to 58 degrees and then slowly let the temp correct to between 60 and 64 degrees
@@rayvenschriver6808 well, temp is 75 today, he is a monster. I try to keep it cooler, but really hard to. He was almost dead early on, wouldnt even move. Even went to several stores, no one had axolotls to replace him with. Now, he is doing great and about 7 inches long. He is a funny animal. He shows off, waves, talks, pouts, lol. Loves red worms. He goes to top of tank and says" bruh" sounds exactly like that, LOL. LIKE A BULL FROG. he glows green and purple, .. he is an awesome part of the family. His name is Hulk.

Wonder why I've had mine over 12months usually fine. He got a fungal infection which I treated. I follow all the rules and since then his gills aren't fluffy 🤔

Exotic pet made me laugh lol so relatable. If you put a Axolotl in a temporary bucket to care for it isn’t there issues with the fact that the water hasn’t been cycled yet? 🤔 or do you use some water from the tank
I know this question was from a couple years ago but since its visible on the video, you need to treat the temporary bucket water (Dechlorinate etc) but uncycled water is fine by itself. It just means you need to change their bucket water way more frequently because there's no bacteria converting the ammonia in to nitrite/nitrate so water changes are the only way to remove the ammonia
