Becoming a student/cadet/whatever in the Air Force Academy is actually a very competitive and tough task. It is among one of the most prestigious schools in America, and is the Alma Mater of many of the pilots in the US Air Force. It is by no means an easy school.
Difficulty portion here is during high school and even earlier preparing to get into the academy. Very difficult. After seeing a lot in the comments, I can say this: while theres multiple reasons why people say the Army and Marines are tougher than the air force, it's in perspective. Marines and Army specialize more ground and combat forces, but in reality who would have the brain, guts (and stomach) to fly a plane that goes faster than the speed of sound and still concentrate on maneuvering it? Or who would have the know-how in that knowledg of technology? Adding ul all the forces creates a balance of brain and brain, and without both our military would sucm, but by using both they get the best of both worlds and are more successful. Idk, just a thought
@@dr.mmaudi8194 Yeah but many many members in other branches are serving in non-combat roles. Even the USMC has cooks and mechanics. Is the marine working at the dining hall really tougher than the USAF Security Forces member that has been down range outside the wire? I mean no disrespect whatsoever to anyone who has worn the uniform, but my point is that it takes all kinds to keep the war machine rolling.
I'm seeing my comment a year later and my spelling sucks srry 😑 Also yeah everyone has a point. There are different roles in each branch if the military, so in the end it's a team effort to get the job done.
What you see in the video is the easiest thing the basic cadets have to do. The retention and regurgitation of information, whether from a handbook of cadet knowledge, public media, or complex orders is much more difficult, creating significantly more stress for the cadets than the physical routines. This is an element that the enlisted army, marines and navy basic training don't emphasize. However, West Point and Annapolis cadets endure nearly identical training elements to AFA. Graduates of all our military academies must be able to accurately process quickly-evolving battle information, saving lives and ensuring mission success.
Me too. I unfortunately grew up with a mom that, while a great mother otherwise, had some mental health issues and wasn’t around to teach me some basic skills like that and I had to learn on my own. I’m worried the way I do it wouldn’t be passable
I am now an NCO and I’m excited to be guiding them to a path of success and I think it’s one of the most important part of an NCO’s job to teach and see them become successful.

All branches are important. Props to every enlisted and commissioned member of the military. It takes a lot to be apart of something bigger than yourself.
For anyone saying "The Moo-rines and army boot camps are sssoooooooo much harder", their cadets do the exact same things at West Point and Annapolis. Look it up.
@@yakou1621 West Point is for someone to be an officer in the Army, Annapolis is one of the ways to be an officer in the Navy or the Marine Corps iirc. Parris island is just where Marine recruits go to for basic training

You have to make sure your not dropping one of the balls or you get kicked out. So yea u may be the most pathetic person but your grades are not that good so your out. Regular college experience, I only had to be a cadet for ~9 hours a week. I did my own laundry, cooked for myself, paid bills and had the freedom to do whatever on weekends. Still free college too bc of a scholarship. I’ve made a lot of friends who commissioned through the academy, and it’s a LOT of extra work/hardship for the same commission. Buuuut if you’re trying to fly it is the most sure fire way to a pilot slot. Pros and cons, I’m happy I did ROTC.
omg just watching this stresses me out. Hearing everyone shouting at each other? I wouldn't last a day in this. Hats off to everyone who makes it through this alive
All Military training has one purpose: to prepare people for their most essential duty --whether they realize it or not. On my first night in Navy boot camp, 50+ years ago, after we'd been assigned a bunk and a service number, I fell into exhausted sleep. Then, in the dead of night, we were suddenly awakened by flashing lights, yelling, all sorts of confusion. Our job was to "fall in line" at attention and recite our name along with our newly acquired service number. The intensity of the experience burned that number into our minds. Years later, it struck me that in less than 24 hours, we learned the most essential thing we must do in a time of crisis. When ever a ship is threatened, the Captain needs to know who was present and who is missing so he can form a plan to save his ship. Years later, as a Tech Rep aboard the USS Kitty Hawk, I saw a puff of smoke belch from the port side of the ship and realized it was an emergency diesel generator starting up. That indicated something serious. The Kitty Hawk had a fire that caused the loss an entire engine room. As damage control procedures were initiated, and everyone else assembled on the flight deck. That's so the Captain would immediately know who was missing, and who wasn't. It was an amazing experience to learn how the professional discipline contained the raging fire and controlled the emotions while we were hundreds of miles from land. Eventually, an Ocean Tug brought us to our destination. Totally professional. A few lives were lost, but a need for a special exit at the bottom of the engine room was recognized as well as for the one at the top. All carriers were retrofitted so no lives would be lost if it ever happened again. My favorite quote [Will Rogers] -- "Ain't no sense making mistakes if ya don't learn from 'em." Over the years, I met other military people (Army) and asked about what they experienced in their first 24 hours. One was a lawyer/judge, another a Chaplain, and another was a dentist. Their experiences were different, but the experience of each one expressed the most essential attribute of their responsibility.
Where in in before 1973, as some of them may have enlisted to avoid the draft, Vietnam? Keep in mind there are probably very few dentists, lawyers, MBAs nowadays as they would not volunteer.
Me, watching these videos constantly Also me, realizing that i’m asthmatic and anemic and even if i wasn’t i wouldn’t be able to complete half of the basic training
I think some of you are a little confused on the title, " basic cadet training". This in more than basic training, this is a college academy. This is not the normal, walk into the recruiters and enlist, young men and women. These people have been selected out of a large pool of people. The acceptance rate is only about 52 percent for the USAFA. That's almost the same as Ivey league schools.
At the moment I'm Russian military soldier In Moscow, I'm 19. and our forces are absolutely worst, we don't have any sport activities, we don't get any weapon, it's just smth like jail, and everybody from 18 to 27 is responsible to go to the military. U have better military anyway!
Anyone who goes through a military academy has to be smart as fuck, and on top of that have to go through four years of harassment at the academy, then get commissioned and serve at least 5 years in the military. Talk about a journey, and that's just getting into an academy, before that you had to be a teenager who was beyond exceptional in academics, sports, community service, etc. So all these kids here, are pretty damn impressive already.
Don't people realize that different branches have different purposes? It's comforting to sit on our couches and judge, solely on the basis of these training videos, when in reality most of us will never have to go through any of this.
I absolutely love the Air Force training video because I have experienced stuff similar to the things they go through in training because of Civil Air Patrol 😁
So much less shouting. So much less tension. So relaxing. The officers arent screaming hard enough. And not breaking the spirits of the new recruits. This airforce officers sound like they are whispering compared to marine drill instructors
Truly unfortunate that even though I want to do this I know it's not an option now, I hope if I have a kid I'll be able to show them the plethora of things they have the ability to do BEFORE they get into high school. You really have to start preparing of things like this by Junior year and I didn't even become interested in the military (or college) until after high-school when I noticed I was stuck in a dead end job. Ya live and ya learn.
There are ways to still get into Officer Training if you enlist and meet requirements before the age of 35. Outside of 35, Active Duty (at least USAF standards) Enlisted is available up to 39yrs of age. Guard and Reserves I believe (even Army, etc) are even more flexible on entry. And once you enlist, there are ways to get to the AFA. Still competitive? Sure. But by enlisting first and then crossing over, they know you have an idea of what to ACTUALLY expect (vs what new cadets THINK it will be like) from being an Officer. One Colonel I talked to when I deployed to Afghanistan in 2009 said that some administration officials at the USAFA actually think prior enlisted crossover cadets are way more appealing than newbies. Especially ones that have had ALS (Airman Leadership School. Required before promoting to E-5)
It’s a privilege to have visited a few times United State Air Force Academy… it is just a few miles away from my home… you can easily see main facility buildings from the I-25 Colorado Springs, Co.
Watching this.. and seeing how they are greeted when the cadets are first dropped off from their parents... and then watching the Naval Academy's first day when the plebes are dropped off from their parents... I can honestly say there is NO WAY i would go to the USAFA. The USNA is far more inviting. The admirals and capt. meet and greet and shake the hands of the plebes and welcome them. The parents get to hang with them for the first 45 minutes to have a formal good bye. The USNA is far more warm and welcoming. Not say that when the training starts it wont be tough, it is, Marines are the toughest. But its just that first impression, that first welcoming. Its more impressive than here at USAFA.

😅😅😅😅
Airforce is not the most badass look at the Marines they are the toughest and hardest boot camp my sister went and broke her foot twice
Care to join Russian airforce you will not get discipline it's fun as well.
Because Air Force use brain rather than physical strength, that's why their boot camp feels like club scout picnic compare to Marine boot camp.
Ernest Jay this isn’t boot camp
@@cardboardboxman6345 it’s bct
Well the part where you see them on obstacle courses and exercises, I agree to disagree.
Not all Air Force is strength some are paratroopers.
As marine, i agree
Huge respect to all those who go through this basic yet intense training.
dasicyetintensetraining
I'm so proud of all these cadets. The class of 2020 is now graduated and making history! They are the first class to graduate Space Force officers!
Must be fun for this class to see themselves 4 years ago. Great group of young people, gives me hope for the future.
now 6 years ago
givesmehmehopeforthefure
preparing a new generation for war gives you hope for the future?
Can’t wait to join the Air Force after I graduate high school this year!
Be a man join the Marines
SeventyFive 4 your mean
SeventyFive 4 be a man and respect his decision
Good luck man, you are very brave.
@@Priest75 how about u join the Marines!
Yeah but few airforce personal actually fly a plane. Even those that fly, do fly propeller aircrafts too.
Dr. M M Audi So? Props are not inferior to turbines.
I'm seeing my comment a year later and my spelling sucks srry 😑
Also yeah everyone has a point. There are different roles in each branch if the military, so in the end it's a team effort to get the job done.
the portuguese training.... take a look ua-cam.com/video/UB7iZ_yGshw/v-deo.html
I believe I could do this except for the t-shirt folding, bed making, and cleaning lol
Me too. I unfortunately grew up with a mom that, while a great mother otherwise, had some mental health issues and wasn’t around to teach me some basic skills like that and I had to learn on my own. I’m worried the way I do it wouldn’t be passable
I would laugh at the screaming and get kicked out on day one 😂
7:13 the inspectors just like "wtf is up with your voice" lol
Alexander Sigurvinsson i know! He sounds like a robot
I am now an NCO and I’m excited to be guiding them to a path of success and I think it’s one of the most important part of an NCO’s job to teach and see them become successful.
NCO’s aren’t training them
The prior enlisted must have a lot of humility getting yelled at again.
Franco Sudiacal especially by people who arent even in the military...
Are cadets considered in the military yet, or are they "in the process"?
A-10 Thunderbolt II neither. They're in the process of preparing to be in the process to become military. Basically they're nothing.
Jesus Christ Thanks, Jesus!
So people stay here for 4 years? I always thought that was kind of weird that you're there for 4 years and not even on an Air Force contract.
It'd be tough going there as prior service... getting yelled at by a 20 year old with three ribbons on their chest... 😂

Haha or a female than can do only 50 push ups
All branches are important. Props to every enlisted and commissioned member of the military. It takes a lot to be apart of something bigger than yourself.
For anyone saying "The Moo-rines and army boot camps are sssoooooooo much harder", their cadets do the exact same things at West Point and Annapolis. Look it up.
Shit... i went to west point... tell me about it..
I thought westpoint was for the navy. I thought the marines are from parris island
@@yakou1621 West Point is for someone to be an officer in the Army, Annapolis is one of the ways to be an officer in the Navy or the Marine Corps iirc. Parris island is just where Marine recruits go to for basic training

For anyone confused why this doesn’t look like BMT, it’s not BMT. THis is for the air force academy, so these are some of the smartest kids in the nation. A super hard university to get into. They will graduate as officers
I mean as weak and soft they seem. When your pinned down in a defensive position and you and your squad are getting shot at from all angles , a C130 is a big help so props to them
Yea ac130 the absolute death machine from above. The grim reaper itself. Just a cool toy that they fly. Give it to the marines or the army and the af has just lost all usefulness
@@yakou1621 Same with the A-10, AF rlly wants to retire it.
People saying this looks easy are actually dumb. These cadets have to juggle 3 balls: Academics, Atheletics, and Military. You have to make sure your not dropping one of the balls or you get kicked out. So yea u may be the most pathetic person but your grades are not that good so your out. Or your the smartest person alive but cant shine your boots or march correctly then your out. Maybe everyone should go there before judging how "easy" it is.
Compared to the Army. This Basic training is a piece of cake. And this basic training is only 5 weeks long.
@@FreddyMartinez-vt4fzUnless you go through academy BCT, you don't know if t is a piece of cake. West Point basic traning is no more diificult than USAFA. All military academies' basic cadet training is not te same as being in enlisted.boot camp.

Lol you said juggle 3 balls 😂
They will send you back over and over untill you get it
Im proud to be an Air Force brat... my father served in the 70s and he tells the best stories about his deployments.... and I am proud to be his son!
Can someone give me one rational reason of why do most of the people make fun of the U.S Air Force?
kevin duarte it's because they aren't really in combat as much as say the Marines these days and they aren't trained as harshly because they won't be infantry units but as soon as the other branches get in trouble they cry for help from the Air Force
Purple Shampoo sooo true
they at underetimated. reading this comments hurts my feelings as my grand father and two of my greatgrandfatners were In the air force an I hope to join them.
Purple Shampoo Yeah no shit, they're taking a lot of fire and its their to job to fly in and support.
Kevin J. Rivera because most fields in the Airforce are easy and not in battle but absolutely nessesary. Fighter pilots dont get shit though, they get much harder training.

Well i have had a second year cadet say that to me it was quiet humorous see as i am an E6 and look super young
I thought to wern't supposed to though. I got my ass smoked cause I looked at one of the Cadre who was 15° in my vision. Look straight, they said

When you compare the basic PT tests (whatever they're called in each branch) I think the USAF women's PT is the toughest. I'm very impressed with all of them. Women and men. Thanks Cadets - Lumpy
*heck.* I'm impressed with this amazing group of young ladies and men.
It's a second to none I was a proud Mother of one of those many years ago , still love every moment of it God bless them all
I’m just going to put this out there. I went to USNA in 1989. Now I’m a photog in NM for the local rugby union. I have never met more entitled people except from the USAFA. They come to NM a lot because of games against UNM and etc. I wished these geniuses knew where their scholarships came from.
Must be highly intelligent to get into the Academy. They work hard. They play hard. Typical of the Air Force. ✈️⚡️🇺🇸 Go Falcons.
The USAF is a different animal than the other branches of military. These recruits must be capable of operating and understanding some of the most expensive and complicated weapon systems in the World and do it effectively.
Robert McCoin exactly.
11:30 How is he gonna yell at them for not sounding off when he cannot even do a correct push up...
John Doe he's only pushing his upper body😂

it reminds me of my Gentlemen Cadet days in Indian Military Academy days our training and routine was very stenrous and enjoyable and became a way of life to day i am over 70 years age
the system made rogues like me into gentleman and then gentleman into officers oh those good old days and our DRILL SAHIBS
I know this is serious and all, but I can't help but laugh at the voice at 7:13.
As awesome as the academy is, I’m so glad I went to a regular college and joined ROTC.
Chas4739 why is that?
Why ?
Regular college experience, I only had to be a cadet for ~9 hours a week. I did my own laundry, cooked for myself, paid bills and had the freedom to do whatever on weekends. Still free college too bc of a scholarship. I’ve made a lot of friends who commissioned through the academy, and it’s a LOT of extra work/hardship for the same commission. Buuuut if you’re trying to fly it is the most sure fire way to a pilot slot. Pros and cons, I’m happy I did ROTC.
From pakistan and appriciated your potriatism of your country and integrity America first Goodluck
“Are you gonna look at me when I’m talking to you” isn’t it the whole thing to NOT look at them when they’re talking to you 😂
THE BEST OF THE VERY BEST IN USAFA 🇺🇸 THAT IS HOW INCREDIBLY TALENTED ALL THESE YOUNG WOMEN AND MEN ARE!!!
After watching the U.S. Marine Corps training, it is so peaceful here.
In the air force the cadets need their brain thats why they're not that rough in there
but not gonna lie, is still hard, but not as hard as some other boot camps *cough marines *cough
omg just watching this stresses me out. Hearing everyone shouting at each other? I wouldn't last a day in this. Hats off to everyone who makes it through this alive
Samantha Tibbitts I couldn't even hear anyone shouting. No officer yelled at anyone. Shouting for joy and cheer plenty
Years later, as a Tech Rep aboard the USS Kitty Hawk, I saw a puff of smoke belch from the port side of the ship and realized it was an emergency
diesel generator starting up.
My favorite quote [Will Rogers] -- "Ain't no sense making mistakes if ya don't learn from 'em."
Over the years, I met other military people (Army) and asked about what they experienced in their first 24 hours.
Respect to a of them, they're so brave, determined and strong
My father Colonel W. R. Gilmore USNA54 is buried at the USAFA beautiful place.
Was he a marine
@@c.7197 Air Force navigator.
Me, watching these videos constantly
Also me, realizing that i’m asthmatic and anemic and even if i wasn’t i wouldn’t be able to complete half of the basic training
Right now I do need to practice for tomorrow in high school ❤️
At the moment I'm Russian military soldier In Moscow, I'm 19. and our forces are absolutely worst, we don't have any sport activities, we don't get any weapon, it's just smth like jail, and everybody from 18 to 27 is responsible to go to the military. U have better military anyway!
It's service academy that prepares officers for the military, and not enlisted bootcamp. Just for your note.
On every air-force related video, I look down in the comments section and see a warzone, like usual.
I cant wait to wear the uniform, some of you may say their training is easy, but don't talk if you you have no experience. I hate when people do that.
The service academies are some of the best colleges in the country and very selective.
Air Force doesn’t get the hype it deserves
True
I absolutely love the Air Force training video because I have experienced stuff similar to the things they go through in training because of Civil Air Patrol 😁
Calvine McCalvineface man that sucks 😬 sorry to hear. I thought all civil air patrols did a summer and winter encampment
This is the best training physical fitness and minds ever for the strength of the cadet training
Class of 2020. Those who survived 4 years are now 1st lieutenants in the USAF, probably most of them pilots.
Going through enlisted BMT it's really neat to see the officers version
The sunglasses do not make them look intimidating at all. Marine DI's don't wear sunglasses; they want the recruits to see the fire in their eyes.
M T lol reminded me that one of my ds in basic had a glass eye and it was hard not to look at
The marine DI. Even if they wore sunglasses the recruits can see fire and brimstone and hell in their eyes

So much less shouting. So much less tension. So relaxing. The officers arent screaming hard enough. And not breaking the spirits of the new recruits. This airforce officers sound like they are whispering compared to marine drill instructors

Who will go on to become Officers in The Greatest Air Force in the world.
My daughter would like to go the Army equivalent of this establishment (West Point).
It's a beautiful campus.
From 1981 to 1988 I lived on Loring Air Force Base in Limestone, Maine

ahhh i cant wait to try and get accepted into the Air Force Academy!!!!
Sheesh!
Did you ?(
will there be a video on the naval academy?
Thank You for your service
