My buddy, Dulakaba/Kache, just recently started FP over from the beginning and he has already started putting a a number of beginner videos. Just look him up at SquatchCraft
Honestly the game itself does not tell you enough. There are some general stuff listed under each species, but not much else. I think it really helps to watch other, experienced people play the game. Dula/Kache's a master at providing instruction in his videos than I am. I tried that, but it felt forced. While I rely on experience, I also rely on my gut feeling and I love to experiment a great deal! another youtuber that is probably close to Dula's level of instructional videos is KpShamino . He plays the game constantly and has a lot more videos out than Dula, I just find him a bit dry for my tastes. Too much like a professor if you can imagine. (He recently got banned from FP for a really stupid reason). BZHub is another great channel to check out, though he is more like me where he likes to play a variety of other games other than fishing simulators, plus he has real life fishing videos as well. Soopa-Dave is good for quickly finding target locations for a specific species and type.
Need to stop playing fishing planet. A lot of people are quitting because of what they did to one of their most played and committed players. They banned him for not following their rules on multiplayer.
Yeah, I heard about it just today! Not sure if you remember, but I boycotted the game for more than a year for the way their powers that be treated one of my friends! I also did the same for RF4 (3 and a half years!) My friend and I have since gone back to both because we quickly realized that the reason we play these games are for our viewers, the games themselves, and the programmers involved, not the bureaucrats that serve as mouth pieces for them. I don't fault KP for leaving as he probably invested more towards the game than most of us. I play and record for you guys... my viewers, and for my own enjoyment. Honestly, I have seen enough of the bureaucracy involved with these games that if I banned any of them for being jerks, I wouldn't be able to play or record anything!
Just an added note. FP is getting more and more fierce competition. Games such as theAngler and both Ultimate Fishing Simulators keep getting better and better, plus there is RF4. New developers are also producing new fishing games every year, so is they are going to remain relevant, they will have to lighten up!
Yeah, they unbanned his main account but banning him in the first place was a mistake. I also quit, after playing for over 7 years. The same, duplicate events every year, no improvements in the game itself, and the pay to win(I know its not pay to win, but spending $40 for a top level pack and farm two weeks to reach max level when free players spend months or even years to reach max level seems pay to win enough for me) just made me stay away(I still played from time to time, have 335 hours and I'm still at lvl 43), but this incident was the cherry on top.
This channel is amazing Will you do more beginner videos like how to use maybe

As a person who never fished how do you know where to fish, which bait, hook or lure to use? Does the game tell you by tool tips?
