They give warning bites most of the time from my experience. Only three out of the thirty or so pede bites I've taken actually involved enough venom to cause intense, long-lasting pain. The rest were either completely dry or only injected enough venom to cause short-term pain that died down rapidly.

Pinch->inject venom->ask questions later. It's also making me re-think the concept of venom as a defense mechanism. It seems logical a venom that induces a high level of pain (like centipede venom) would be used for both defense and subduing prey, and painless venom would be purely an offensive weapon. If so, it seems an animal that delivers a painful bite/sting would not hesitate to deliver venom when threatened. Perhaps venom that produces pain in primates is merely coincidental, not by natural design, even though primates have lived as a potential threat side-by-side animals like centipedes for a very long time. Or maybe this particular centipede is less aggressive or values its' venom reserve more than usual. I don't keep centipedes or any other insects/bugs/arthropods but they do fascinate me. Pretty much everyone if they see a photo of a centipede: they are vicious and will leap to your throat and bite you and you will definitely die every time. They will then twirl their antennae like a mustache and tie your corpse to the railroad tracks. Massive Centipede: needs to be aggravated for ten minutes before even bothering to inject venom I started feeling a bit bad for her after a while, you were like "c'mon let's go" and she was like "for the love of Pete what is it you are even doing just let me climb on stuff I have zero interest in you dude" XD

As a snake handler (and retired paramedic) I can certainly attest to this being the case with snake envenomations. Is there any particular reason you all seem to choose this area to inflict bites?
Honestly, it’s just for the sake of consistency.
Reminds me of my son when I try to hold him in place to stop him from going places he isn't supposed to be going.😭😂
How do these bites compare to the Scolopendra heros bites?
Never been bitten by S. heros, though judging from bite reports they're fairly similar. Certainly much milder than many Asian species.
Pretty much everyone if they see a photo of a centipede: they are vicious and will leap to your throat and bite you and you will definitely die every time. They will then twirl their antennae like a mustache and tie your corpse to the railroad tracks.
Massive Centipede: needs to be aggravated for ten minutes before even bothering to inject venom
I started feeling a bit bad for her after a while, you were like "c'mon let's go" and she was like "for the love of Pete what is it you are even doing just let me climb on stuff I have zero interest in you dude" XD
She was like "want uppies, please!" 😅
whoa, what a docile, well mannered, kindhearted centipede... i say that because i know from experience that centipede is one of the bitiest insect out there
Bro i got bite last night by one but its a jamaica one and it hurts
I saw a huge centipede really close to my feet yesterday as I was prepping for bed and have been so terrified since then. I wasn't bitten, thank the lord, but still really scared since I have a habit of sleeping on the floor (more comfortable) and often without any clothes on.
I *think* your video has calmed me down some and I thank you for that.
The Disney/Starwars comment got you a new subscriber. Keep up the solid work my man…
She's trying to get rid of you with her jams
This man getting invenomated reminds me of a stoner with the end of a cart "not a real hit, gonna need one more"
Makes you really question coyote Peterson with his screams of agony...
Could you do a video on the semi aquatic centipedes that live on some Japanese islands
Definitely!
So for you what is the most painful species of scolopendra in the world? Sorry for my bad english
It'd be one of the Asian species. I've heard (anecdotally) that an undescribed Scolopendra sp. from Malaysia has a ridiculously painful bite.
Some time ago I saw an episode of Kings of pain with scolopendra subspinipes. What do you think about this species?
Yeah subspinipes are really potent
Spinosissima Is more potent than subspinipes?
I can't definitively rank them, although I'd be inclined to put spinosissima above based on bite reports I've heard.
Thank you for a video, you crazy bastard :)
Cheers! I am a little crazy haha
Lol that thing must know that's the hand that feeds it, the fact it gave you literally 20 dry bites, it's basically just telling you to stop annoying him
I've taken dry bites from wild ones too. This species in general seems to require a lot of provocation to give a proper envenomation.
I love how it shows how reluctant they are to hurt humans. Why waste their venom on something they can’t eat and she clearly doesn’t see you as a threat. ❤
Your persistence at getting it into your blood would put a heroine junkie to shame!
I’m sorry like big ass spiders these things either need leaving well alone of standing on
Man struggles to handle wiggly thing
“WHY ARE YOU MAKING ME DO THIS, DAD??”
Thank you for the Disney star wars dig!
