I can not get enough of this video! It is the most moving "Kol Nidrei" video on UA-cam! Every time I watch it my eyes are filled with tears, thinking about how the Church persecuted the Jews through the years, and about the enormous power of setting our differences aside, and coming together in reconciliation as mere humans. Music and religion at its absolute finest. From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much!

As I heard the rising voice of the cello toward its concluding sweetness, I realized I'd never heard a cello reach up to this range, the high spheres of heaven where yet depth is not denied. The last note seemed like the tender kiss of a Most Loving Loved One~ Divine Being Itself.

Max Bruch's most heart-felt and sublime musical thought. It enraptures the soul. It comes from the deepest and most profound fiber of his being. A voice of grief and sorrow comes out of that cello that no words would be able to express.

What a marvel! I am listening to Linn Harrell's KolNidrei two nights after Yom Kipur. It moved me deeply. Had to be very brave not to cry over the computer keyboard. Thanks to Max Bruch for such a beautiful piece of music, based on the prayer that we, Jews, made during the Inquisition times, to ask God to forgive our sins, as pretending a conversion to catholicism, in order to survive. And thanks to all musicians that include it on their repertoire.

I am going to see him play tonight. What a magnificent cellist. Can not wait . New favorite along side Du Pre. Two idols of utmost excellence. They acutually played the same cello. He bought it from Jaqueline . Do not know if they are the same there but the cello seem the same . There is no feeling or motion he puts in that is forced. Like Du Pre, he shows how much he enjoys the music , orchestra, and performing.

How exquisitely the cello voices the grief of the human soul. Bruch's sublime gift honors the Jewish people and all who mourn~ compassionate music touches the wound in the soul in the face of overwhelming suffering. I Listened, transported to the Holocaust Memorial in Jerusalem. Concert lights fused with the eternal flame burning there to honor the known and unknown, offering them healing in heavenly light. Music of the spheres uplifts them, and us. Deep thanks to you who play our souls well!

A beautiful rendition which reflects the sincerity and poignancy of this performance, given the long tragic history up to Nostre Aetarte and the background work that has gone on since then. The whole concert should be replayed at this time as it's message is very relevant for The Year of Mercy, which begins on the 1st Sunday of Advent (29 Nov) 2015.

The Kol Nidrei prayer and service are literally the most solemn, revered, and important parts of our Jewish High Holidays. Please do not liken or assign it to any Christian holiday. We do not acknowledge Mary or Jesus in the Jewish faith, except our Talmud, which forbids that concept (to put it politely). This is a sacred Jewish song. Thank you. Shalom.
