I currently lease a 2024 Ioniq 6 SE RWD, and the 332 mile range at 70mph Kyle reported here is very consistent with the range tests I have done on my own car. As always, everybody just needs to keep in mind that range tests are a very inexact science in general since speed. temperature, head/tail wind, highway incline up/down and other factors such as the phase of the moon 😊 all effect your actual range. My problem is that the more range I get, the more I want. I’ll be ready for an affordable 500 mile range option after this lease is up!! Great and thorough report as always. Thanks!
Quick addition: Everything Kyle said about the Ioniq 6 is correct - both pro and con - but it is worth highlighting that this thing is an absolute road trip beast! You get over 300 miles of range plus fast charging is very noticeably better than anything else I have ever driven before - including lots of miles on Model 3’s and Model Y’s. When I hook up to a 350 kW fast charger that is working up to spec, I’ve got a full charge faster than I can walk across the street and get a sandwich at Subway (true story).

Thanks for this video. I have the Ioniq 6 SEL AWD with the 20" wheels. My Tesla friends love their tech but they prefer the ride and build quality of my Ioniq. The whole range anxiety thing is unnecessary 95% of the time. A small percentage of people actually make long trips beyond a few hundred miles. I just read that 99.2% of daily trips were less than 100 miles. In the end, I think it's best for 95+% to buy an EV you like, can afford, enjoy looking at, and worry less about long distance range.
Not everyone who buys a Ioniq 6 hates Elon, some people like a smooth ride, decent build quality, and not seeing your car a thousand times a day on Interstate 5.....😮😅😊
The best thing about the Ioniq 6 is the regen paddles. The Kia / Hyundai regen paddle system is next level. It's a total deal breaker for me with any other EV that lacks them. It makes one pedal driving feel stupid.
@@deele7991sucks that you can’t adjust regen levels at all on Tesla since at least 2021. The OPD requires you to be very sensitive on the throttle to keep the right speed and on slippery surfaces you have to be careful not to let to fast off the throttle.
Actually, Hyundai is already producing cars, including the Ioniq 5, at its huge new manufacturing plant in Georgia. Hyundai has made a $7.6 Billion commitment to producing cars in the US.
Still not in the market for one, but giving the results at the front is a great idea, its why I watch this channel, and why Im watching the entire video
Extreme cost-cutting measures like: lack of turn signal stalk, lack of wiper stalk, lack of driver display/HUD, no independent climate control panel, no ultrasonic parking sensors, no radar, no infrared rain sensors while gaslighting consumers into believing these omissions are for "minimalism" are absolute dealbreakers for me.
I average 214 Wh/mi in my 2022 Performance Model 3 with aftermarket 19" Aero wheels. I still think the reason for Tesla's charge curve is long term battery degradation prevention. It will be interesting to see how these batteries hold up over the years 🤔
In my I6 AWD (CDN Ultimate trim) on a highway loop run of 174 km / 109 miles, with a stop for lunch, I got efficiency (3.9 mi/kWh or 15.9 kWh/100km) that translates to around 303 miles (485 km) of range (77.4 kWh/hr battery), on the 20-inch wheels, in ECO mode, at an average speed of 58 mph (93 km/hr), a temperature of 81F (27C), HDA mostly on-otherwise auto regen 2 or 3, climate set to 68F/20C-Auto 1 climate setting-driver only (no passenger). My I6 is very smooth and comfortable on the highways, and quick to charge, as noted. After 13,000 km (~8000 miles), I am very happy with it, although I will eventually switch the 20-inch wheels for 19-inch to pick up some more range. I really appreciate this video. Thank you Out of Spec!
I own an ioniq 6 SE 2024 and drove it from San Diego to San Antonio. I noticed what appeared to be a better range when driving in level 0 even while in highway assist cruise control which I didn't think would matter?
Tesla did say they updated their EPA testing cycle corrections to be more conservative, which should better align their rated ranges with those published by most of the other automakers.
Really surprised at how efficient the new M3 LR RWD is. I have been averaging 4.9 mi/kwh since I took delivery (at 2,080 miles on the odometer). Such an upgrade from my 21 M3SR+. Really don’t want to modify this one since the efficiency is so good but can’t live with the ridiculous wheel gap and stock wheels.
@@user-ns7ip8qy9l Two model 3 performances a model y performance and a lrawd model y and not one of them had panel gaps. You're just regurgitating things you've heard from years ago.
You gents are a less-morbid version of Hope and Crosby of EV road trips! For those of us impacted by Milton in Florida, this episode is much-needed diversion and levity.
I was thinking 385 and that's what it ends up with. 400 miles is over asking when you're driving at 70 the whole time. By the way, I'm glad the Charging Station is now named Maverick. The previous name just sounded wrong somehow. 😆
Pretty impressive showing for the Ioniq 6! I see the windshield crack has been spreading since we hit that damned rock. Isn’t the brake light coming on on slight inclines so obnoxious? I’ll usually cancel HDA and just coast down hills to prevent it from happening.
It's not even the fact about his politics - he basically is the reason why tesla skimps on so much stuff in their cars. No reason why they can't put for releases in the back in case of emergencies.
I have an Ioniq 6 Ultimate (uk) rear wheel drive, 20inch wheels, on the highway I find running the regeneration in auto raises M/KWH up to 4.1 from 3.8
The new M3 refresh is such and impressive car! I really like that this car exists for people that are worried about range. Personally I find that our 5 year old M3 SR+ (55kwh) has plenty of range and charging speed for our long distant trips but for the people that don't understand how much range you "actually" need this is an amazing option for not much money. The EGMP platform vehicles have amazing charging speed (if you can find the right charger) for people that are in a REAL hurry (and are able to get their toilet stops done in time - forget about having time to get a coffee or some food!).
How much longer do we need to wait for the updated Model Y that will hopefully have all these same new features and looks that they've done with the 3?
Hey kyle, I love the video, but one thing I noticed was in the thumb nail it says model 3 over the ionic 6 and over the model 3 it says ionic. Just a little thing i noticed overall the vido is amazing, like always. Keep up the amazing content. Thank you, and have a great day
Didn't he say that she wasn't needed because the Lucid finished charging the Ioniq before the tesla died. And that the lucid could have charged the tesla so he ruined her plans for no reason?
Love the comparison videos like this - gives tons of insight to electric driving habits. On the tech side, I am always wanting to find which phone apps you are using to get the data that you show. I have and OBD unit and use ABRP to get very limited data, but would love to know the apps that you use to get the indepth data in your vids. Keep up the great work!
Could check out this little bug in the Tesla browser. You can’t make a hotel reservation when doing a road trip because you can’t enter the state in the state field for your contact information.
Love this shit, lol is anyone surprised that the awd was only 14 miles less then the rwd? That impressive efficient motors... these wheels are 19s? I wonder how it would do on old 18s with and without aeros😊 thnx for making me a nerd, lol
Range on Model 3 is excellent in the past as you have said Tesla would under deliver and German cars would over deliver. Nice turn around for Tesla. Still with faster charging of Ioniq 6 it will likely be better car on your 10% challenge almost making longer range on Model 3 LR RWD a moot point (other than round trip back home or long trip to 2nd home/ hotel with Level 2 charging to avoid high cost of L3 charging/ driving off your route).
28:10 "Well, you'll also have to forgive me - for the first minute here of the test, I had my cooled seat on. Range test RUINED!" That and the crack in the windshield of the Ioniq 6… all that extra resistance! 😩
What i'm surprised about how there is such a little difference in range between the AWD and RWD this time. I wonder if tesla turns off some of the motors when at speeds like that just so it gets better range.
They do exactly that. The front motor is only used when needed for accerating or if AWD is needed, if you're just cruising it doesn't actually do anything.
This is the model I wanted but didn’t wait for instead of the ‘23 LFP with 272. I did get out the door under $32k though. Nerfed stereo with speakers installed but not turned on irritates me.
Looking forward to the multi-car and 10% challenge tests 👍🏻. Keep up with the great videos - lots to learn from them! I mention your channel frequently on the FB Tesla forums when people are discussing how to charge for best charging throughput.
that is just amazing... here we will only have the LG with 78.8 gross, so it cannot do the same but man is that impressive. When my Model 3 LR was new in early 2022 , it did 563 km (app 350miles) at 110kmh which is comparable to 70mph I think. it still has 140 Wh/km at that speed but now some degradation after 75000km, so it does aubstantially less.
Just FYI, the Ioniq 6 will also update OTA! Depending on the model year it might only update the entertainment system OTA, but the newest ones are supposed to update more OTA.
I will watch the full video obviously. I appreciate the time it took to do this and setting everything up to do it. Personally I don't care about what it costs in electricity to do my driving but it is interesting to see technology come along! Manual dimming mirrors are THE BEST option. I can see my kid and the car behind me. Who ever said “ugh I’m exhausted from dimming this mirror over and over”?
@@franklong6269 do you have a toddler in the back seat? With an old school rear view you can literally see both the back seat and out the rear windshield at the same time. It’s just a convenience feature that solves a nonexistent problem.
@MoreOnEVs Wow, I not sure how you can even say that. You are just ignorant about the purpose of self-dimming mirrors. The Tesla Model 3 mirrors work just like any other mirrors. The difference is that they dim headlight glare during nighttime driving significantly. So they absolutely DO solve a very significant problem. As far as dealing with toddlers, you can use the Model 3 mirrors exactly like non-dimming mirrors both in the day and in the night. In fact, at night you would have better vision of the back seat area with Tesla's self-dimming mirrors than regular mirrors. I'm not sure how you don't understand that. Regular non-dimning mirrors used at night will blind you with headlight glare. Tesla's mirrors shield your eyes from that glare and help you to see far better than with regular mirrors. Tesla's self-dimming mirrors are by far the best mirrors I have ever used in any car I have driven, it's not even close.
@@franklong6269 okay I don’t mean to trigger you about your superior Tesla mirror. I have a 2024 Model Y long range and I’m a diehard TSLA stock fan. That said, the flippy mirror in my 2019 e-Golf is better for anyone who wants to see what’s happening in the back seat. It’s pretty simple. You adjust the mirror to see out the back windshield and then flip the lever down. Once you do that you can see clearly what’s happening in the back seat AND AT THE SAME TIME see a dimmed version of the road behind. Mirrors have always dimmed the headlights behind you, it was just a matter of flipping the little lever. I don’t understand why we needed to get rid of that little lever, it’s not that inconvenient. In my model Y I need to adjust the mirror to see my daughter, making it impossible to see out the back windshield. Tesla has the best ownership experience of any vehicle I’ve had, but this is one convenience feature that I find inconvenient.
@MoreOnEVs Dude, you're irrational. It's not the dimming function you are complaining about it's the mirror itself. If you don't like Tesla mirrors go buy some old piece of just with the manual dimming mirrors. Geez!
Apparently i heard that when the Lucid gave Hyundai some juice. 9 months later the Ioniq had a baby with an ICE and an electric motor .. It was a hybrid..
As a Tesla AND a Hyundai owner, i enjoy Tesla's UI and screen over the "old" way of instrumentation clusters and center stacks. I'm not much of a fiddler, so i don't need to change settings like some folks swear they need to. The voice commands handle just about everything i need (Hyundai has many of the same voice features). When it comes to the two cars in question, the Tesla is a better car. I test drove the Ioniq 6, and the UI isn't up to par. It's not a bad car, but unless you are getting a good lease deal, there's no real world advantage to the Ioniq 6 to the M3 as a daily.
Agree. I have an EV6 and 2024 Model 3. Model 3 is better in most ways and extremely efficient. Better powertrain. Better software. Its simply just a better vehicle. The only advantage my EV6 has is that it has more room and charges better (but not really when you have to use EA).
Having tested both the Model 3 highland and owning the Ioniq 6 Limited AWD, they're definitely a couple of differences that made me choose the Hyundai. First, the Hyundai is a larger vehicle on the inside especially. The Model 3 is a compact sedan whereas the Ioniq 6 is a mid-size. The interior fit and finish of the Hyundai was also significantly better. The Model 3 in the showroom looks like it had a seat stitched together by a blind monkey. Third, the Ioniq 6 is MUCH quieter on the inside, especially once you pull the noise maker fuse... Fourth, you get turn signal stalks. Trying to find where the turn signals went on the Model 3 in the middle of a turn is absolutely obnoxious. It is a completely unnecessary cost reduction. Then of course is the charging. There's absolutely no reason why any new cars should be built on anything lower than an 800 volt architecture in 2024. E-GMP is so far ahead of anything in its price class. Last, when I was looking at the two the price was relatively comparable. The Ioniq 6 was around $11,000 and some change off.

I've always been impressed with the software on Teslas and now I'm really impressed with the new M3 performance. I have the Ioniq 6 limited which doesn't have great range but it's fine for me because I would rather have the features. I picked it because I love Hyundai. I would lease the Elantra for the value when they released the I6, I jumped on it
Hyundai and Kia I think are great innovators, but I feel they could work on getting their cars lighter. LIke a Model 3 Performance is quite a bit lighter than a performance car from Hyundai/Kia. So maybe they in the future can work on removing mass from the cars. They are quite good at afficciency already, so should be doable with clever engineering I think.

Thanks a lot for that too.
Great to see a legacy deliver a good EV product that is same sentence as Telsa. Kudos to Hyundai, they seem to get it. Another excellent comparison video from oos.
Thanks so much for testing the 2024 M3 LR RWD! I bought mine a few weeks ago and love it. Always look forward to OOS tests and reviews on all the vehicles.
Great to seeing you still doing Great ! ! We happen to run into you in Arizona a couple years back, we had rented a Model 3 and we're trying to figure out how to find an actual Tesla Super Charging station when we ran into you.
Thanks to you, we are proud owners of a Model Y, solely because you showed us all the neat tricks and how to use the Tesla correctly ! ! Thank You for being such a Amazingly Awesome person back than, and clearly to this day ! ! You definitely earn a couple life long subscribers that day ! !
@@TalismanPHXI'm happy I'm not seeing the Ioniq 6 much as well. Not because I drive one, but because I'd have to look at one.
Can't wait to see the 10%/15min challenge test!
384 miles is more than 6 hours of nonstop driving. in real world I want to stop every 3 hours.
Great content Kyle and team. Keep up the good work! Practically 390 miles is nuts
Sounds about right. I'm currently puling 217 wh/mi on my M3 RWD LR
Great job savings Kyle Alissa!
Love my Ioniq 6. My first EV and it’s a beast. Fast charging, fast speed, & great customer service so far. It’s great to drive
Me too!!
Do they build the car in America, by Americans?
Actually, Hyundai is already producing cars, including the Ioniq 5, at its huge new manufacturing plant in Georgia. Hyundai has made a $7.6 Billion commitment to producing cars in the US.
Still not in the market for one, but giving the results at the front is a great idea, its why I watch this channel, and why Im watching the entire video
Me too see if he’s lying or not
Thx Kyle. How is the Cybertruck after the service? (Motor change)
Love these range tests!
Extreme cost-cutting measures like: lack of turn signal stalk, lack of wiper stalk, lack of driver display/HUD, no independent climate control panel, no ultrasonic parking sensors, no radar, no infrared rain sensors while gaslighting consumers into believing these omissions are for "minimalism" are absolute dealbreakers for me.
thats why you are an idiot.
I average 214 Wh/mi in my 2022 Performance Model 3 with aftermarket 19" Aero wheels. I still think the reason for Tesla's charge curve is long term battery degradation prevention. It will be interesting to see how these batteries hold up over the years 🤔
It's not. Kia uses more cobalt in their ski batteries. Which makes it more expensive.
That's my car (got black seats) I just bought two weeks ago. Thanks for the test!
I freaking love these real world test!!! Appreciate it very much!!!
Thank you for the summary - I watched the whole thing just because you did :)
Well at least lowering your car will make it even more efficient
@@Shiftheadstoo bad the aftermarket wheels I have won’t. But still a huge upgrade on range than my SR+
But you can live with the panel gaps?
Kyle, Thanks for the referral code. It just saved me $500 on a new Model Y!
Love your work. Keep it going!
Pretty impressive showing for the Ioniq 6! I see the windshield crack has been spreading since we hit that damned rock. Isn’t the brake light coming on on slight inclines so obnoxious? I’ll usually cancel HDA and just coast down hills to prevent it from happening.
Isn't that because it's actually doing braking via regen? Wouldn't you want that?
That Tesla LR RWD is the best value in the car market
The battle of the year. Outside of R1T quad 2025 and Cyberbeast
Mind Blown,Model 3 holds its tittle as the efficiency king, cheers guys 👍💪😉
Impressive numbers, I would go for Tesla but not a fan of Elon, so Hyundai for the win! Another great review Gentlemen - thank you.
Especially these days, I used to somewhat admire Elon or rather appreciate his contribution. Both great cars.
It's not even the fact about his politics - he basically is the reason why tesla skimps on so much stuff in their cars. No reason why they can't put for releases in the back in case of emergencies.
so buy an inferior vehicle because someone has a different opinion than you? lmao what a loser
THANK YOU I BEEN WAITING FOR THIS TEST
I averaged 4.81 mi/kWh on my LFP M3 while driving from IN to NC.
I also think the redesign on the Ionic 6 will definitely improve range with the larger battery.
I have an Ioniq 6 Ultimate (uk) rear wheel drive, 20inch wheels, on the highway I find running the regeneration in auto raises M/KWH up to 4.1 from 3.8
you need to test lucid air pure

If I were Tesla I would go all in on the facelifted y. That’s what they need now.
6 months in the U.S. or so, probably available Jan 1st 2025 from China. 🤔
Could you review rwd lr interior vs awd lr interior? Curious to see the difference 17 vs 9 speakers makes.
Hey kyle, I love the video, but one thing I noticed was in the thumb nail it says model 3 over the ionic 6 and over the model 3 it says ionic. Just a little thing i noticed overall the vido is amazing, like always. Keep up the amazing content. Thank you, and have a great day
Awsome result for both cars. Alyssa really is a life saver! Without here you would have been stranded!
Ty beautiful for not leavin Kyle stranded
Didn't he say that she wasn't needed because the Lucid finished charging the Ioniq before the tesla died. And that the lucid could have charged the tesla so he ruined her plans for no reason?

Love the comparison videos like this - gives tons of insight to electric driving habits. On the tech side, I am always wanting to find which phone apps you are using to get the data that you show. I have and OBD unit and use ABRP to get very limited data, but would love to know the apps that you use to get the indepth data in your vids. Keep up the great work!
i feel like how all the OOS crew feel about the kia/hyundai software is how most people feel about the MBUX software that kyle and some seem to adore
So not much difference between long range and LR RWD?
Waiting for performance video to make my decision
I wonder if the M3 would do 400 miles if at a slower highway speed like 60 mph. Thoughts?
Most likely.
Easy
in this day and age of fake news and fake everything.. honesty is much appreciated. impressive.
These are 18" wheels! Same wheels and tires on both the AWD and the RWD they tested.
@@TheBowerbird oh ok,thnx
Range on Model 3 is excellent in the past as you have said Tesla would under deliver and German cars would over deliver. Nice turn around for Tesla. Still with faster charging of Ioniq 6 it will likely be better car on your 10% challenge almost making longer range on Model 3 LR RWD a moot point (other than round trip back home or long trip to 2nd home/ hotel with Level 2 charging to avoid high cost of L3 charging/ driving off your route).
any videos on 2024 Tesla M3P range test? Looking into buying one
28:10 "Well, you'll also have to forgive me - for the first minute here of the test, I had my cooled seat on. Range test RUINED!"
That and the crack in the windshield of the Ioniq 6… all that extra resistance! 😩
Good content! Thanks!
How do you think the RWD would handle Colorado winters?
What i'm surprised about how there is such a little difference in range between the AWD and RWD this time. I wonder if tesla turns off some of the motors when at speeds like that just so it gets better range.
Yup that's what they. Same with many other companies unless they use two permanent magnetic rotors
They do exactly that. The front motor is only used when needed for accerating or if AWD is needed, if you're just cruising it doesn't actually do anything.
That's how most AWD cars work.
I want to trade up from my Tesla model 3 short range to this new Tesla model 3 long range red
This is the model I wanted but didn’t wait for instead of the ‘23 LFP with 272. I did get out the door under $32k though. Nerfed stereo with speakers installed but not turned on irritates me.
Weird what am I doing differently when I have the same spec Model 3 as this and at 70mph I get 200wh/mi...
Add in three 5 minute bathroom breaks that each add 50 miles and you can go 530 miles with just three pee breaks and no dedicated charging stops.
Heck yeah brother!
Oil Companies are going to have a price on your head :) be careful !!! :)

Manual dimming mirrors are THE BEST option. I can see my kid and the car behind me. Who ever said “ugh I’m exhausted from dimming this mirror over and over”?
@@MoreOnEVs Not even close to being true. The Model 3 self-dimming mirrors are by far the best I have ever used. It's not even close.
Geez!
Yea i really like the hyundai. I wouldn't be buying a tesla for now, I support the rule of law ;)
What😂
!?!?! Tesla break laws?
It's not a bad car, but unless you are getting a good lease deal, there's no real world advantage to the Ioniq 6 to the M3 as a daily.
well, the ioniq6 doesn't come with neonazi Musk baggage, though
Is charge speed faster on EGMP cars?
@@WJYKwe just test drove and are soon taking delivery of a new 3. Coming from an ioniq which was a great car I’m surprised by how good the new model 3 is… smooth ride like the ioniq, high quality interior, and muchhhhh better software

Why did range go way up on Silverado WT max battery for 2025 with the stricter standards?
Like how you put the results in the description and at the start of the video. However video is way too long. I'd prefer about 10 minutes with useful info mostly. So it was all or nearly all highway at 70mph? Does the video say the temperature ?
Great test! If you want to get the numbers on the 2024 Hyundai Kona, let me know. I have a Limited and my wife has an SEL. I can come up from Fort Morgan pretty much anytime and run the course with you.

It baffles our host why people won't buy a Tesla. Hahaha. He is definitely just into EVs, nothing else.
Can you advise battery chemistry for both cars? Can they be charged to 100% every day, as if not, then results are not valid. Thanks.
