Thanks for a pretty decent and honest review. Just a couple of things. Re the noise, this is from a well-known RW aircraft mag on C140 ownership - "Owners often complain about one 120/140 shortcoming: cabin noise. The cabin is small and the engine is nearby, with the exhaust dumped overboard very near the occupants’ feet. The results can be deafening-perhaps more so than in contemporary types. We’d consider an active noise-canceling headset mandatory (but we do, anyway)." That said, we are looking into replacing the sounds a little later which, of course, will be a free upgrade when the time comes. Thanks AvAngel for another great review. I did purchase this aircraft because of nostalgia - I started my flight training in the 1960's in this aircraft (it was known as the Killer-140 because it was prone to easily ground looping). Here is what I think. - Back in the 60's there was no headphones but the engine sound was for sure not this loud. - I agree that AH did a nice job in presenting this model. - I wrote AH with a number of issues - As per the manual you are supposed to be able to right click the center Com Radio knob to switch to Nav Radio settings - does not work. - The Master Switch above the Magnetos does nothing. - I do not see anyway of displaying the Altimatic Auto Pilot. or the HSI - the manual shows these options. - I would like to be able to use my own tail registration but cannot. - The lights above in the cabin are supposed to be able to be turned on - do not work. - The Nav Lights, Strobe Lights are almost non existent and the Beacon Light does not show up. - There is no Stall Horn - the Stall Light is suppose to show red but sometimes it does not - as I have been putting it through stalls and spins to see how it reacts. Other than all this I do like the aircraft, it does fly somewhat from what I remember.
15:32 I know this is minor but I think it's funny: the "140" key fob floats to the right when you turn right and to the left when you turn left, opposite of what should happen.
The sound is actually a mix of one of the FSX default aircraft (Extra 300 I think) and some lower quality sound. I had to turn the engine volume slider down to 13% to get it bearable without loosing ambient sounds, etc. My guess is they don't have anybody in-house that knows how to use the Wwise audio software. AH is a pretty good developer though, and I have no doubt that they'll update it over time. The positive note is that 3rd party aircraft devs are starting to figure out their way around the new sim, so hopefully the days of half assed addons are creeping away.
I love your narration and imperfections that you laugh at yourself! Humility is a great attibute. Along with landing safely. Like Jeff, I have made purchase decisions based on your video! May you reach 50,000 subs one day. I was in a Cessna 180 floatplane one time, YIKES, talk about L O U D !!!
A few points to clarify - the pitot tube for the airspeed indicator is on the left wing, the venturi is for vacuum instruments such as directional gyro or artificial horizon (neither of which are in the panel as modeled). The turn indicator is electric in the 140. Landing light on the 140 is swing down style under the left wing not leading edge mounted as shown. The sound is not very realistic as you noted, but the 140 is very loud without headsets. Very loud. Carb heat is third knob from the left above the piano switches. Full flaps does not at all mean you cannot do a go around and the crash on landing was because your approach speed was too low. Also, if you are uncoordinated or in a bank, the plane will stall at a higher airspeed than “book” stall speed and it will absolutely drop a wing like that with little or no clues. Some 140’s had stall horns, some did not. I believe it was an option. Published approach speed is 70 mph. 65 or even 60 works too, but no less than 60.
Thank you for the nice review! I think I will wait if AH will improve the issues that are there at the moment. Will be interesting to compare it to the upcoming Cessna 170 from another developer.
OMG Thank You Avangel !! Finally someone who agrees with me on Aeroplane Heaven sounds. I stopped buying their aircraft long time ago, when I couldn't stand their engine sounds anymore and had to buy soundpacks or replace with freeware ones in FSX/P3D. These sounds are utterly immersion-breaking and besides a complete disconnect between the internal and external sounds, they are just trash and nowhere near representative of the real thing. The price is actually $29, but I will not even pay $5 for this. It is such a shame, as this is my ultimate favourite category of aircraft, but I simply will not waste my money.
5:22 The sounds are very loud. I dropped my volume to @12-16%. Although I'm fairly pleased with the aircraft, the sounds do really kill the immersion for me. The soundpack still uses the old FSX method instead of Wwise. I get it, there's a learning curve, so I'm pretty forgiving here, but what really got me is this statement from their product page: "Authentic stereo sound pack." The sounds, while they may have authentic sounds mixed in (Which seem to be fairly low quality), are based on the Extra 300 sounds from FSX. So, in other words, it's a mixed soundpack and far from what I would consider calling authentic. Overall, I'm not completely disappointed with the model, however I do not think it's currently worth the $29 USD they are asking. Perhaps in the future if they continue improving the aircraft..
Have to agree with the thoughts on the sounds... I have my headphones turned to 30% master volume and the sounds on this plane are DEAFENING to me. But if I turn either my headphones or the sim volume down, I can't hear the ATC or anything else for that matter. Which is a shame, but I'm hoping they will fix it. I mentioned it to them on their Facebook page, asked if they could create a soundset with a lower volume, and they basically said that sound is subjective and can vary depending on one's setup (even though everyone I've heard from on this says the sounds are way too loud lol, but I understand they probably get a lot of "nitpicking" so might not trust criticism right away). They did say they will be taking a look at it in preparation for the next upgrade, so hopefully that means they are seriously considering lowering the volume. Fingers crossed! Thanks for another great video!
It's not just the volume, inside vs outside sounds like two completely unrelated and very unrealistic engines - as AvAngel says "like a tumble drier", not even an aircraft. Don't hold your breath for an improvement either. Not a single Aeroplane Heaven aircraft that I purchased in FSX/P3D days were ever improved or corrected. They pump them out, take your money and move on...
@@AvAngel i do, but with buffeting is much more nice, in msfs stall very strange by default, you can even have positive climb rate when ac have to sink with or without asymmetrical wing fall
Glad I didn’t pick it up, even though I have a lot of nostalgia for this as my grandfather used to take me up in his 120 (a 140 with no flaps and fewer electrics). You didn’t catch it but the directional arrows from the G1000 bleed through to the regular texture when it’s disabled, very strange. And folks on the MSFS forums mentioned that the battery dies after a short time flying, so there must be issues with electrical modeling. Too bad.
Just a minor comment about the interior sound. This was the first airplane I ever rode in IRL. With the fabric covered fuselage, it sounded as if you were riding on the inside of a bass drum. I think it's closer to real than you think.
Great review. I was tempted to get this after seeing twotonemerphy's video however agree the sound is too much. It definitely needs a touch up as it's genuinely painful to listen too
@@AvAngel I know that .. but it didn’t ..whereas a force feedback would have woken you up and made you react bit like rumblers on a road coming off a motorway to remind you of your speed 😉
I know what you mean about the paint. When I did my World Tour paint for the Just Flight Arrow III I re-adjusted the texture elements, saved and reloaded the livery in the sim's aircraft hangar until everything lined up as perfectly as possible. It didn't take that long either. If a developer can't put in that effort something ain't right. There is no excuse for sloppy paintwork in a payware aircraft. Not liking the cockpit sound either. It's a shame, because otherwise it seems to be a very nice aircraft and I love vintage planes. Hopefully they'll fix these issues. Of course now I'm worried about the quality of their upcoming DC-3, possibly one of the most important aircraft for me.
I started my career doing texture artwork for flightsim stuff, first freeware repaints, then later I did work with a team to actually produce a few freeware aircraft and later on I did some bits for some payware companies before moving on in life, I do a lot of texture work day to day so i ALWAYS notice things most wouldn't XD And the DC3... mama want!
Nice review, thanks! But your final approach, the whole time I'm thinking keep your speed up! 65 would be a good approach speed. The bottom of the white arc, that's where she's gonna stall. You sure don't want to be at that speed until you are a couple feet off the ground.
Yeah this is what happens when you're splitting attention between reviewing something and flying it ;) Unlike other youtubers I don't cut out my mistakes. I know what I did there, I was misreading mph and knots thinking I was fine.
nice review, This 140 looks nice but a little under powered for bush flying so i will wait for the Carenado 170B your reviews are always great information and gives us viewers an accurate idea to see if we would like to add aircraft to our MSFS. The simulation has done really well since its launch last August, so many cool places to go virtually with MSFS. will you be reviewing the Tomahawk soon?
@@AvAngel Big Radials bigradials.com/, getting 5-star reviews on simmarket. By the way, the Carenado 170B will look better and sound better than the Aeroplane Heaven C140, but Carenado flight models are pretty bad, so we'll still be lacking a decent plane in this category.
I'd love to fly this plane in the sim but their website doesn't really mention any update history and the manual links to a manual for another plane for another sim entirely. Does anyone know if the sounds have been fixed and if the stall behaviour is any better? Thanks for the excellent review, as always a joy to watch!
FWIW, UA-cam videos of real aircraft are remarkable for loud, growling engine noise. Nice review, as usual. Admire the integrity it took to leave the first landing in. Very helpful actually. I am not sure that low and slow you would get much feedback before stall but, what do I know?
Just discovered your channel and love your natural, unpretentious presentational style! Do I detect a well-spoken North East England accent there? (Durham local here). :o) You clearly know your compressors from your limiters, audio-wise too, although personally, I think the issue with the awful interior audio here, is that the sound is *phasing* . Whatever it is, they've killed an otherwise gorgeous plane with that sound!
You might be accurate there :) I am from the North yes, West though not east! And thanks for the lovely compliments! Yeah the sound is... being a bit funky with this, phasing would seem to actually add up. There are some mods that totally correct the sound though making it nice.
I would love to see a mod that allows you to single click add the G3 X touch to the savage cub! I have one painted to look like my actual supercub in real life, but my real one has a G3X touch so it would be nice to have in my Sim cub also!
Have you tried the new Yak from the MS store? It's giving me problems that no-one else seems to have.Frame rate at 10 fps (if I'm lucky) and taxi bad manners until I discovered it steers better with ailerons than rudder............................
Great review as always, keep up the good work! Wish the textures were a bit grittier and some of those visual anomalies had been sorted out. With the stall speed in knots, it should be even higher in miles/hour, but I guess the bottom of the white arc may be a bit higher in this version than in the real aircraft. As a wing can stall at any airspeed and any pitch, I wonder if the high angle of attack on your first approach exceeded the ‘critical angle of attack’ of the wing? Could explain the stall above the book speed. As always, great work.
There are dirtier textures with it too, this was a cleaner one. Could have been critical AOA to be fair, i just had zero feedback it was coming tbh... any aircraft 'tells you' its about to go funky.
Oh,I have Tigermoth ported from FSX which flies well but landing has to be with power, gliding those last few yards results in nose dropping like a stone.I'm gagging for someone to do a nice fieseler storch I's a real doozy...............................
Russel, I used to own and fly a Tiger Moth in real life and the Ant's model for FSX (even the freeware one) is very realistic. The Tiger Moth is a bad glider due to drag caused by all those wires and you have to add power frequently when landing. We used to prefer "wheelers" ie landing on the front wheels first, then stick forward (sounds wrong, right?) to keep the tail up (with lots of rudder-dancing) until the tail settles by itself, otherwise you'd do a ground loop very easily. Three-point landings are very difficult to do in real life and could easily damage the plane if done incorrectly.
@@russellharris5072 Well done, yes three-pointers are easier in the sim :-). Try doing a spin, should take about two-and-a-half rotations to recover, just like in real life. The Ant's Tiger Moth was the only aircraft in FSX where a spin felt close to real life experience.
@@tb100 I have ant's tiger moth in FSX and MSFS but haven't been brave enough to try a spin,I have tried it in FSX with the extra with varying results but again, not in MSFS.............................
Love your channel , great video's . Just thought have you tried the Nemeth Yak-18T , i did that on my small channel and got quite a few hits . I think it would be better if you did a review as im no way near like yours or even a pilot ....arm chair pilot more like lol . Im not getting any thing from putting this forward as im just a sim lover like us all . Its a good modelled plane and it bit more different to all the other GA planes out there , the only problem i found was the rudder was super sensitive . So had to dumb it down to -77 on the R-Axis-z on my Saitek rudder pedals and it was confirmed by some one that commented that the rudder was way to much sensitive . Other than that i reckon you would like it , it is in KPH for speed and Metres for Height as Eastern European Countries do so maybe unless you good at maths might be an issue for IFR . It retails at £14.65 which i think is good and has a lot of very nice liveries . Keep up your video's as we like them :-) . Happy flying . Maybe better to buy it from simMarket: MSFS AIRCRAFT again im in no way connected as the Nemeth sim site is a bit funny to use , as in boxes that need to be filled don't always show up . what a shame, i really like the look of that but i fly with simulated headphones in the sound settings, and looks like this doesn't do it, the bell 47 does the same, and you cant hear yourself think, which is why i guess they brought in headphones for G.A.. Bit silly really, they have gone to the trouble in fitting Garmin in this retro aircraft, which looks yuk, they could have given an option to headphone the sound, even if not strictly authentic to the era. Great video, thanks..
Yeah it is realistic though XD They are patching as far as they said in the comments. Their update is changing out the G1000 for more suitable modern avionics as navaids rather than that whole set.
It looks nice, but I will pass on this one until they have sort the sound out, and I don't understand why they include a G1000, why not a smaller G100 or 430.
Does Aeroplane Heaven have a good reputation for updating their aircraft following feedback? Wondering if we can expect the issues you brought up to be addressed since it seems like a solid product at it's core that needs some adjustments/refinement.
I bought this aircraft thinking it would be really good as soon as I heard the sound I knew it was a mistake, I will never buy buy another aircraft with checking the reviews first .
Thanks for the video. Great content as always. Those interior sounds are awful. And with added insta-death on final! I wonder if it's possible to use sounds files from other aircraft in this sim, as a workaround? Not that you should have to of course.
I wish I listened to the audio before I purchased this aircraft. It literally gives me a headache and just sounds ugly all around. Visually, I am pleased with the aircraft, but the audio absolutely kills this aircraft for me as well.
Same here, literally get a headache after maybe 5 minutes of flight time since it is so loud no matter what I do. A real shame since the rest of the aircraft is so great.
I was first to purchase this and I love it - the sounds are very retro. I enjoy the sound. Maybe adjust your sounds in the sim. You can reduce the volumne. Coming in for the landing - I saw you at stall limit for quite a bit of time. I keep wondering if you are a real pilot. REALLY rookie mistake. Boom your dead. ;-) unsbscribing.
I had it at 25 % lol. As for the mistake yup, on me, we live and learn about paying attention in planes when flying for the first time in a new one… all these reviews are first flights for first impression purposes. Doing it off camera is easy, talking and splitting attention is a different matter

The positive note is that 3rd party aircraft devs are starting to figure out their way around the new sim, so hopefully the days of half assed addons are creeping away.
nice video! :D
12:25 stall
I love your narration and imperfections that you laugh at yourself! Humility is a great attibute. Along with landing safely. Like Jeff, I have made purchase decisions based on your video! May you reach 50,000 subs one day. I was in a Cessna 180 floatplane one time, YIKES, talk about L O U D !!!
I see you stalled just above 40mph as well, out of the green zone lol
Love that the key ring was animated too. They should have done it with the microphone cable as well! :)
In reality you have to dance on the rudder pedals for taxi and takeoff. My first flight was in a Cessna 140, beautiful airplane.
Perhaps in the future if they continue improving the aircraft..
thank you for reviewing this Plane, will wait for updates and maybe even for the Carenado one, that sound would also be a killer for me.
Carenado's is the newer 170, but i do really want that one myself.
Amazing aircraft ! :D
12:26 that's why any developers have to modeling prestall buffeting
Yeah it’s dependant on aircraft type but you can usually feel it
@@AvAngel i do, but with buffeting is much more nice, in msfs stall very strange by default, you can even have positive climb rate when ac have to sink with or without asymmetrical wing fall
Too bad.
Wow! just flew the carenado C107B and it was such a gem!
It is indeed, review coming later today.
Just a minor comment about the interior sound. This was the first airplane I ever rode in IRL. With the fabric covered fuselage, it sounded as if you were riding on the inside of a bass drum. I think it's closer to real than you think.
There's a mod out for the sound. flightsim.to/file/17507/cessna-140-lower-interior-engine-noise
Great review. I was tempted to get this after seeing twotonemerphy's video however agree the sound is too much. It definitely needs a touch up as it's genuinely painful to listen too
I click then find its reviwed by my fave UA-camr!
Thinking about getting a force feedback yoke, would get plenty of feedback on that before a stall :)
It’s not just that the sim gives audio and visual shake as you hit the ‘edge’
@@AvAngel I know that .. but it didn’t ..whereas a force feedback would have woken you up and made you react bit like rumblers on a road coming off a motorway to remind you of your speed 😉
About the interior sound, is there a click spot for a headset that would make it quiet down like some of the Carenado models had?
Not that I know of.
The stall speeds you quoted were in knots ....... the ASI is in MPH !!! 😉
I know! That’s what threw me off like a moron
😆 good landing A+ thanks so much for the review! I was shocked as well. Tool late to dip down :)
Well the second one was :D
Cool plane but I'm happy with my 170 purchase for 15 bucks. Even though it does have a couple small issues
Great content as always!
Looks like you really gotta be close to the one you're traveling with. Thank you for the review 😀
pretty tight confines :D
I started my career doing texture artwork for flightsim stuff, first freeware repaints, then later I did work with a team to actually produce a few freeware aircraft and later on I did some bits for some payware companies before moving on in life, I do a lot of texture work day to day so i ALWAYS notice things most wouldn't XD
And the DC3...
AvAngel...did you already hear that if you have an empty gas tank, a crosswind can lift it easily?
nice review, This 140 looks nice but a little under powered for bush flying so i will wait for the Carenado 170B
your reviews are always great information and gives us viewers an accurate idea to see if we would like to add aircraft to our MSFS.
The simulation has done really well since its launch last August, so many cool places to go virtually with MSFS.
will you be reviewing the Tomahawk soon?
There a tomahawk out? By who?
@@AvAngel Big Radials bigradials.com/, getting 5-star reviews on simmarket. By the way, the Carenado 170B will look better and sound better than the Aeroplane Heaven C140, but Carenado flight models are pretty bad, so we'll still be lacking a decent plane in this category.
@@AvAngel bigradials.com/products/big-radials-p-40b-tomahawk
also available on the Marketplace in the simulation itself (if you use Steam)
Beautiful presentation, but how do you get this modern GPS suite?
Click the avionics button as I said
@@AvAngel Yes I press the avionics button but get the 430 type not G1000
Yep it was updated to be more realistic with the latest patch
I'd love to fly this plane in the sim but their website doesn't really mention any update history and the manual links to a manual for another plane for another sim entirely. Does anyone know if the sounds have been fixed and if the stall behaviour is any better? Thanks for the excellent review, as always a joy to watch!
It’s been updated a fair bit in honesty, not bad now and has float version
@@AvAngel cheers!
FWIW, UA-cam videos of real aircraft are remarkable for loud, growling engine noise. Nice review, as usual. Admire the integrity it took to leave the first landing in. Very helpful actually. I am not sure that low and slow you would get much feedback before stall but, what do I know?
I’m human I won’t hide it, got distracted and I’m used to more modern aircraft and should pay more attention rather than talking too much!
Not yet actually, I will at some point.
great vid,, what airport is this?
The flaps lever not animated! that's is a shame !!! any idea!
Flaps attempting to be used as a self righting mechanism. ;-)
Any chance of a Carenado 170 review? It's cheaper and doesn't sound like someone put bricks in a food blender.
It must have just released, I’ll get to it as soon as I can!
To your knowledge can you replace the G1000 with a different interface via mod? Love the plane, hate that the modern navigation is a g1000
They did update it to a 430
@@AvAngel When? I haven’t seen this! Is there a new install or something?
Oh,I have Tigermoth ported from FSX which flies well but landing has to be with power, gliding those last few yards results in nose dropping like a stone.I'm gagging for someone to do a nice fieseler storch I's a real doozy...............................
Oh I'd love one of those too!
@@tb100 Good info, thanks.I flew it to-day and managed a good main gear landing, tricky though.....................
12:32 looks like you had a stall spin
yup, got too slow, that was on me.
Thank you ;-)
Not tried it yet, plan to at some point (The Yak) I run less than 50% sensitivity on mine its too wild by default in all aircraft tbh
@@AvAngel yes I have noticed that to , just thought initially it was just me being heavy with my sizes 11's lol
how is that you have different shades of green trees?
Bjan trees pack :)
This one will not make it to my hangar. Dropped you a message (reply) to your pinned tweet on your twitter page. Did you see it? Thanks Mark
what a shame, i really like the look of that but i fly with simulated headphones in the sound settings, and looks like this doesn't do it, the bell 47 does the same, and you cant hear yourself think, which is why i guess they brought in headphones for G.A..
Hello, great channel, what are your specs as the sim looks amazing
Ryzen 2700x 32 gb ram rtx 2070 super 😀
Nice landing!
(The second time :D)
Hahahaha NICE! I thought - is it possible today without a disaster? ))
Most of the time I don't to be fair! :D
Are you a real Pilot Missis Angel.
Very good review.
Plane is nice and old fashioned.
It looks nice, but I will pass on this one until they have sort the sound out, and I don't understand why they include a G1000, why not a smaller G100 or 430.
According to them just now, they're doing that exact thing and some other updates :)
Does Aeroplane Heaven have a good reputation for updating their aircraft following feedback? Wondering if we can expect the issues you brought up to be addressed since it seems like a solid product at it's core that needs some adjustments/refinement.
From the past in FSX and P3D... yes they do... this time? I have no information to go on.
Thx. for the looksiedoodle.
Hi.
Is there an hour meter in this aircraft?
Not sure but likely is on the panel somewhere, didn't look sorry.
Reminds me a bit of the Piper Pacer minus all the piper’s good looks
This or the C170?
140 is more GA... 170 is more bush but a quicker 4 seat ga... depends what you want, overall rn, the 170 is more flyable right away.
Can I get this on Xbox?
Hopes for the C 185 son....
Me too... so darn much!
Great review....thank-you young lady .
I bought this aircraft thinking it would be really good as soon as I heard the sound I knew it was a mistake, I will never buy buy another aircraft with checking the reviews first .
Tis why I make them :)
Thanks for the video. Great content as always. Those interior sounds are awful. And with added insta-death on final!
I wonder if it's possible to use sounds files from other aircraft in this sim, as a workaround? Not that you should have to of course.
To be fair final was my fault, misreading knots and mph and trying to talk to the viewer rather than focusing ;)
I wish I listened to the audio before I purchased this aircraft. It literally gives me a headache and just sounds ugly all around. Visually, I am pleased with the aircraft, but the audio absolutely kills this aircraft for me as well.
Its a tad loud and does clip.
Same here, literally get a headache after maybe 5 minutes of flight time since it is so loud no matter what I do. A real shame since the rest of the aircraft is so great.
Yep I wouldn’t buy it because of then sound. It shouldn’t sound much different from the c152
4:03 Excuse me I have to go vomit. 🤢
Glass cockpit in a Cessna 140? Blasphemy I say!
Also it looks too clean. It should look tattered
There are worn skins
nice video! :D
