I actually quite liked captains voyage and I wanna explain why (long comment)
A lot of themed levels nowadays are super half-assed when it comes to theming. Black Flag for example, an equivalent pirate-themed level, looks amazing, but its theming is essentially just a few pirate themed blocks and backgrounds. It never really felt like they attempted to make a pirate-themed level, rather they took a normal layout and slapped some pirate themed assets on it and called it a day. Also, it has so little cohesion as to where the player actually is in the world, they just randomly swap from being inside the ship to being underwater to being in a storm and it makes zero sense because they never really bothered to make it themed well
Captains voyage obviously looks pretty rubbish but it had an actual progression to it. All of the gameplay in the level ties into the theme, and there's an actual series of events that happen in the level. The theme is put first and the level is built around it, rather than it being a layout with some assets slapped on. When I think of captains voyage, I remember the cannons, the underwater sections, the raiding houses and all the cool gimmicks you included. It might not look good but it's memorable.
Progression isn't really something hard to get right but I think it's something really missing in today's creating meta. All captains voyage is missing is a coat of paint to make it look good, and then we have a truly well made themed level.

One error i noted is that at the beginning, you stated that the impossible game is a copy of gd, when infact, its older and robtop stated that gd was infact a copy of the impossible game, otherwhise, nice video

i love how you turned one of your worst levels into your best, while still keeping a bit of the feel of the original
I'd really like to see it fully finished with polishing and air deco cause this looks really strong so far
Very cool recreation! I have some things to say about it. In the first part it really needs more air deco bc its little bit empty, you can add like sunshine colors to the sky, or just make the air more colorful you know. The coral section is cool, it will be so cool if the corals had some little movement. In the jellyfish section I think jellyfishes will be very interesting if you make their tentacles move. In the underground ancient ruin I can imagine the seagrass wiggle like in the sea, it will be nice detail. In the island the sand is little bit empty, i can imagine more shades of yellow thats nice, and the swing rope section is really cool, but the ropes seem very small for some reason. And thats pretty much all "mistakes," but no, your recreation seems really cool and if you look at things from my comment I will really appreciate it.
I absolutely love Captain’s Voyage but it’s obvious that it was rushed. I’d love to see such a remake!

I remember watching you build the captain's voyage on stream, but this is the first time I saw the full level! Your review/comparison of the level and its remake was really interesting, it's a good way to study what makes a good level. I wish you talked a bit about how the level was created (like how you collabed with Sunnet, or why it was rushed or ran out of time)

Hey man I'm sorry, but I like the original underwater ruin a little bit better. I feel like the full black bricks in the background don't fit the 'ruins' vibe. It to perfectly squared to have been in the ocean for a long time. (Also no boss fight? Or did I miss something?) everything else is great. the coral reef is awesome and colorful, the rock design is really cool. And I also love the swinging motion.
