It is quite terrifying - but for some reason, when I dive I don't really notice how close I am unless I'm centimeters from the edge of the platform/board?
It tends to scare me. I saw a video where someone hit their head in Olympic diving once though....
im think this bronze medal really helped tom stay stable in the unfortunate news of the passing of his father. tom’s father would be so proud of him! ❤️

Cuba was underscored in the synchro event too. Something against Cuba I guess - but it's not fair to the athletes.

actually, i noticed the German's right shoulder problem since the 2nd/3rd dive but i'm not sure why the commentators only noticed it at the last one. anyway, mad respect to the German diver for finishing all 6 dives.

Yes, am sure it was obvious in the earlier dives, I think after the handstand dive. But he had a crack at a medal, so he carried on.

Those inward somersaults look so scary. How do they stay so perfectly close to the platform while not smacking their head into it
Ikr? I get anxious just watching them do it
IT'S HARD. I don't dive platform, and it's hard enough not to hit the springboard!
You learn how to do it and the spring board will already launch you far enough to not hit your head, the platform on the other hand, you need to jump backwards and you won’t hit your head unless you jump straight up.
You can hit your head while spinning, but only once.
A Chinese diver hit her head once in the platform and she was basically paralyzed from waist down 😔

This is how asian people are taught - they want *perfection* , nothing less, nothing more. And that is why it's almost impossible to compete with them.

DCM -[Some Potential]- well if you get to the Olympic stage then it’s a very big deal. In the moment, he’s going to feel disappointed and upset at himself. It’s just all the emotions of the competition. I’m sure he moved on after but this is right after the competition. His emotions are perfectly understandable

I think the dive #5 was not scored fairly, when Boudia had a bad entry into the water. Nowadays it would be scored less than 7.5. Anyway, the judges were pretty generous in this game overall, especially for Daley's dives. His problem was technical difficulty, just not as competitive.

I mean, when you look again at Tom's first dive, it's like he's in a disco club! Stupid people. And they have been told not to use flash -.- Gosh. Good that he had the chance to re-dive.

You can literally see him immediately when he gets out of the pool make the motion with his hands and the replay shows at least eight flashes that I counted directly even with his eyes. He has more people in that crowd trying to snap pictures of him mid air than anyone else by multiples. I thought it was the right decision. No I'm not English, I could care less about Tom Daley personally.
Cameras shouldn’t be allowed , otherwise this happens to every diver but the rest don’t have a chance for a second dive
I like that Tom Daley would have won bronze even if he hadn't re-dived, provided the rest of his dives were the same and not boosted by confidence after that re-dive (which will never be known).
