I love your videos. I am 67 years old retired CNA. So am on fixed income.. I want to hike Colorado Trail in parts. I'm recovering from torn rotator cuff on left shoulder since September but has improved. Did not want surgery so your exercises should help. I cannot afford a gym but I do have free weights, exercise ball, kettle bells, exercise bands, exercise bike from HSN, Total Gym on sale from QVC. I don't have anyone to hike with but I'm not afraid to go solo. So I am going to improve myself so I can do these trails. Was not that athletic growing up but hiked alot in Rocky Mountain National Park. I grew up in Greeley Colorado and live in south Westminster Colorado.
I’m 40. I’m loosing weight just lost 70 pounds and really getting into hiking. I can’t tell you how much you ladies motivate me. I hope to walk the PCT one day. Thank you for everything always ❤
Staying motivated makes such a difference. Hearing that our videos motivate you makes me happy. I just re-read Cheryl Strayed’s Wild about her trek on the PCT and through my post-thru-hike-lens found it re-motivated me to accept each day on the AZT as a gift and to relish the chance to be in the wild day after day.
Super helpful. I’m 70 and a distance walker, Camino addict. Need weight training and don’t want to go to the gym so this great. Just ordered a mat and some equipment. Thanks and keep on adventuring 😎❤️🥾
You are spot on about weight training! I'm 70 and have trained with weights for 55 years and I'm reaping the benefits now. Keep it up, you inspire a lot of people.
Great video! I teach Yoga and find yoga so helpful for stretch, breath and release of tension. I am 64 years old and hot, strong classes don't serve me well anymore and I had to say goodbye to 5-6 hard classes a week. I still love those classes but 1-2 at the most the week. Knowing your body makes all the difference, as well as respecting the age of you body.
Hi Wander Women! I just want you to know how much I love you and what an inspiration you are 🥰. My girlfriend (58) and I (65) are training for the Appalachian trail 2024. She has had hip aches during our shakedown hikes and I think I remembered Annette having similar issues on the CDT. How did she remedy this and do you have specific stretches that you learned? Give me a link if you covered this and thank you thank you thank you!
Wow, I just found this video. Not sure how I missed it earlier this year. Thank you for going through your routine. I was looking for a routine that I could take with me when I travel with my trailer. Love your videos, travel and inspiration! Rock on!
Hi ladies, always nice to hear from you. Your workouts look good. Keeping in shape is key. I have 5lb and 10lb weights. The 10lb proved to be too much for me, but the 5's are perfect. My activities have been walking, skiing, biking an camping. I've hiked to the bottom of the Grand Canyon and biked across my state of Wisconsin. Experiences I will never forget. Great stuff. Take care.
Totally not boring! Thank you, I always appreciate when you guys share all the different things you do to stay in shape & healthy! You guys are my inspiration!
Thank You Both!!! You are my inspiration and hope. I am planning a section hike for the CT. Segment 18 to 22 this year. Training is a challenge for me but what I lack in talent I definitely make up for in determination. Hugs to you both and thank you again!!!!
You ladies rock! I am currently going to PT for my left knee, and already had right knee replacement surgery a few years ago. I walk 9-10+k steps almost every day at my job, but it is painful at this point. My plan is to retire in May at age 66, and start getting myself in better shape. You guys are my inspiration to make the most of my retirement years. Yep, I seem to be in a hole at this point, but plan to get myself out of it. The exercise demo is just what I need.
You ladies are such a inspiration to me 😊we met briefly on the Pct, two years ago I was heading south and you ladies were doing a flip fop,in washington. Good luck on your next adventure!😂🎉
I’ve always been very active. I earned my 1st degree, Tae Kwon Do Black Belt, when I was 32. I taught Country Line Dancing when that was all the rave. Then, I was pretty much immobile for about 5+years because of a virus that attacked my joints. About 5 years ago, I knew that if I didn’t do something, I would turn into a fat old lady in a nursing home! (I’m also on very strong pain meds.) That makes it possible to move again! 2 years ago, I bought a small camper! Last winter I lost 16 lbs and camped all summer. Now, I’m back into the diet and working out at home. I have a Bow Flex with weight rods and a BowFlex tread climber with two Treadles, so when I step down, the treadle moves with me somewhat. You are very good motivational speakers! Start slow, do what you can do, but do it well! You don’t need fancy equipment! What overweight or lazy people don’t realize is, that once you start a program, it doesn’t take long until you “want” to work out, because you feel so much better!!! My workout is as important to me as brushing my teeth and wiping my butt!! How can you go through a day without doing all those things!! Great video! You are true, authentic women, helping other people live their best life! Great advice!! I have 10 more lbs to lose! I Can Do It! 💪🏻 and So Can You! 🫵🏻 1 set of 12 at a time! 🏋🏻🧘🏻♀️🏊🏻♀️🚴🏻♂️ I just bought an eBike, too!!! It gives me that little bit of boost I need to go up hills and ride more miles and best of all.. it’s fun!! Thank you girls, for motivating me! And the rest of you over weight, women…listen to these girls and get moving!! 💕🥳👍🏻🥰😉
Lol! We are not of the “ get in shape as you hike” belief either. I loved the expression on your face when you said that, Annette! I sure hope our paths cross some day. I think it would be a lot of fun!
Again thanks for your inspiring tips and words of wisdom! Hey Netti I just turned 65! I have one set of weights in my tiny new van, a yoga mat, now I just need to get disciplined! I walk a lot but need to work out my upper body, especially those old lady batwings! 🤪
Thanks so much for demonstrating your kick-a workout routine. I love that just basic simplicity combined with correct form can yield great results. Quite inspirational!
Thank you! I needed to see this. I have all the equipment and free weights but have been lethargic and seeing you both look so energized I wanna have that look on my face too! You both are sooo inspiring. I’ve watched from the beginning and admire your health, your endurance and your determination, and courage. The through hikes are so amazing to me. I scared of the unknown so I miss out on great adventures because of it but I love watching you both rock the hikes!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉❤️❤️
Love your videos! In one of your previous videos you mentioned that you had your emotional stuff figured out. Could you please go into detail on that so that I and maybe others could be more prepared emotionally for a through hike?💛
Waiting for your new upload is my hobby Because your video owns the attraction in each video Don't skip up your effort to create the interesting clip Fully watch it, a big thumbs up
Thanks for sharing your workout routine. I first found out about the Wander Women last Spring and binge watched most of your videos over the summer. You are an inspiration, you help keep me motivated. I will never be able to do all the things you do, but I hope my husband and I can do a lot more bike trails after we retire. Last March I finally got in the right mindset to lose weight, I have lost 90+ pounds so far and still have a lot more to go. We love bike riding and ride the Virginia Creeper, C&O Canal Towpath, and the GAP when we can manage to get away from work for 4 or 5 days. Otherwise, we just ride local in the Richmond VA area. Wish we could have met you when you were on the C&O or GAP but I had just had a total hysterectomy and was unable to ride for about 5 weeks. It was torture not being able to ride, I had been riding at least 5 miles every day since Memorial Day weekend last year. Five miles may not seem much to you, but for me it was a challenge to fit it in each day due to work. A lot of days I could not ride until 10 or 11 at night, but I did it. We took a long weekend over Memorial Day weekend and did out and backs from Brunswick MD on the C&O. Over the 4th of July weekend we spent several days in Damascus VA riding the whole Virginia Creeper Trail multiple times, not just the downhill portion. I'm sorry, I'm writing a book here. I love what you are doing and thoroughly enjoy watching your videos. Take care.
Very practical routine. There are so many exercises you can do with dumbbells and plenty of strengthening exercises without having to use any equipment at all. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for sharing . It really made me feel good when you said something is better than nothing. Im getting back into yoga and been a slow process. I want to keep your mind set about not stopping and then trying to get back in shape. Im so excited for you both and can't wait for the adventures to begin
Hi Charlotte!!! Awesome of you ladies to share your routine! I've gotten my act together a little bit and have been visiting the Y for yoga classes as well as time on the incline treadmill. I've also been out with my hiking club several times. Like you, I aim to stay in shape as much as I can year round. I'm looking forward to watching your progress in AZ! Be well.
Good for you for going to the Y. My absolute favorite gym machine is the gravitron. It's the only way I can do pull-ups and dips. The pull-ups make my shoulders feel so good.
Charlotte is adorable! And 13 years old, that's amazing! She deserves a party, and some cake 😁 The workout you folks do is quite similar to what I used to do, and then life fell to pieces and I haven't got back to it. The weights are hiding in the closet. 😕 I don't have a big ball anymore tho. And now I have a puppy, who is little, but I'm pretty sure she could kill one of those right quick! 🤣
Thanks for showing your exercises! I am looking forward to buying your exercise DVD; just an idea! Are you bicycling in Iowa this summer? You ladies are an inspiration! I look forward to all your adventures! Take care!💕
You are doing well in keeping a good general level of fitness. Peaking gradually for a through hike start is exactly the way to do it. Avoidance of injury is key, as you say. What about your nutrition plan ? Do you have anything by way of a hiking training diet ?
Hello from Jean snd Anita in Michigan. We are planning a east Canada va-ca in May. Do we need to get Canada currency, and should we get travel insurance. First time out of the USA ( except Hawaii ) and don’t want too many surprises. We have been together for 30 years and it’s time to travel!! Love your videos. We Lived in Arizona and can’t wait for your next adventure!! Anita and Jean. mosey and maps on the trail!!
Sounds like a great plan for you both. Have fun out there. We did not get travel insurance for Canada but we did get currency and you can get currency there also.
I think people underestimate how important weight training is to backpacking. Cardio is important but it doesn't strengthen your core, shoulders, back, or arms. I hope to see you around the Springs before you start your next adventure.
Oh no! Swings are a hip\lower body exercise not a shoulder exercise. You need to snap with your hips. Sorry you received bad instructions at the Y. I’d recommend getting a heavier kb and learn how to use as intended. I love you guys not meant as a criticism but wanting to help. Us older gals (I’m 58) need to lift heavy weights too!

We did a gear review after the AT. We are using mostly the same stuff with a few changes. Maybe we will do another one.
@@wanderwomenkristyannette5021 Great, thank you!
Do you bring all those weights in your RV? Or do you only do YWCA and body weight exercises?
We have them with us in the RV.
When you all do a long distance hike, how many miles do you do a day?
Usually somewhere between 15 and 20. Sometimes less and sometimes more.
If you are training on your own like I do, i rep for 30 secs then rest for 30 secs sort of HIIT style
Charlotte is beautiful❤
