I love pottery and the wheel. However, a few things for working with clay--you need to work your clay more before casting it on the wheel. It was far too hard to work with. Next, I think these kits were designed with kids in mind, so my guess is they wouldn't use that much clay. Lastly, the casting onto the wheel takes a load of practice, but the biggest issue with this is that it's plastic. Plastic + water= slide. The clay MUST stay wet as do your hands, so having a bowl of water is far easier than a spray bottle. Even when using a regular wheel, you have to REALLY throw it hard to get it to stick, and then use a wire to remove (The most tense part of the whole experience after you've made a beautiful creation, you can mess it up by removing it). I think with more practice you'd get a better feel--my first day on the wheel, all we did was work the clay to get used to the texture when wet, and how fast you can lose your clay :D
I'd be afraid to slap the clay down too hard on this cheap plastic gizmo. It would probably crack! X>D I'd invest in a better electric wheel before getting serious about pottery.
I took a class once and loved it and unless you are willing to put your money into it this stuff just isn't going to work and you're right about the plastic.
Thing is, Jackie didn’t do anything wrong by the directions. They were way to vague. On an actual pottery wheel, you knead the clay until it’s softer, and then slam it as hard as you can into the wheel as close to the center as possible, which prevents sliding and actually works better when the clay is kneaded. But, they don’t tell you to knead it. Then, you do keep your hands slick, but they don’t tell you that your hands shouldn’t be wet and that if the clay gets so wet it starts sliding or cracking, you gotta start over. Pottery is time sensitive. Plus, neither kit explained that if you want to add on pieces of clay like the eyes and fins and mouth, you have to score the clay and use slick (clay/water mix) to adhere them. These things could be awesome, the cheap one actually works and you could fix some of the issues with technique, but the kit HAS to explain more. You can’t just copy a video and expect anything but a wet clump of clay, even if you have an actual wheel.

In order to center the clay, you could barely push enough pressure to even make something proper! And not to mention the cracking!! I do recommend getting into pottery on a real wheel, it is so much fun!
I love how you also follow Reyhan Artworks
Aww thank you 😍 I admire so many amazing artists. There's room for everyone to succeed 🧡
Ah yes pottery
the stuff i wanna try but too lazy to get started on it 😂👏
I’ve tried pottery before, I have small hands and it’s a little hard. You also need to have a little muscle strength. Love your videos Jackie! #nerdeficiationsquad
I knew it was mazia pottery. Its such a cute style. I love the derp faces and I love your videos
I love that people like you, Jackie are exposing shitty kits so companies HAVE to improve them. They aren’t great but there IS improvement!

My mum always walks by when she sees your saltiness intensify and then she starts mimicking you! It is so funny but she will never stop.
Nerdycrafter:Subscribe if you haven't or else I will wave a pointy sharp object at you. Me:Didn't you already do that?
Laughed pretty hard at the 2nd pedal sounding like an airplane, especially that last change in sound with your reaction haha! 🤣❤️🤣

I would love to see you make pottery. I know it can be hard, so you did a great job and totally nailed it!
Alright already Jackie! Put down the knife and walk away! 😅
I've already been subscribed to you years ago. 🤣 Love you and your birb! ❤
Jackie:”next pottery wheel is made by me”
I literally thought it was really made by Jackie
Yeah, having done a lot of pottery on the wheel that contraption can't take the force you have to push down with. That clay was also way too dry.
When she said made by me pottery wheel I had flashbacks to Moriah Elizabeth’s video but Jackie’s one was pretty good
I had a pottery wheel craft kit when I was a kid. It’s effectiveness was comparable to your expensive one. I’m actually pretty impressed by how well the cheaper kit worked.
when workin with clay like this it's good to have some slip handy(container of glue consistency of water and clay). You use it as literal glue when sticking things together, gotta make sure to also score(cross hatch, etc) each side, slap some slick on it and then stick'em together.

I've had the privilege of using a very nice, professional potter's wheel in some classes before.
They're fantastic.
I had a made by me pottery wheel I remember it being really fun and it sparked my interest in clay things and I hope to do a real pottery class soon
