To any of those that watched this, he wasn’t smiling because he was happy the universe got erased. He was smiling because he was happy they finally got to realize how serious the stakes are and that Zeno was not bluffing about Erasing a Universe. He predicted that the universes would ultimately end up giving it their all to protect their universes and would wish to revive them once they saw Zeno’s power.
He had no clue that A17 would bring back the universes over his island. Or that Jiren would lose and not smoke the guy who killed everyone he loved. And Goku wouldn't wish Frieza back. Or Vegeta wouldn't bring back just 1 universe. He was just curious and putting up THAT ANGEL SMILE. I've watched all episodes of DBS +4* in order. My Favorite has to be the last episode where he finally got Jiren to go all out (as Goku would love) and both his similar ally and his (vegeta's) worst enemy had fought with him.

I originally thought it was a malicious smile. In the into we see one red and one blue Zenoh and sure this could signify present and future Zenoh but it could also signify good and evil. Entertain this for a second. We get a winner from universe 7, doesn't matter who or what they wish for, after the wish is granted present Zenoh goes to wipe out the universe with the exception of the winner and future Zenoh stops him. When questioned about why he admits he's been having fun wiping out Universes and wants to clear this one too because "what's the big deal? We still have others". Future Zenoh doesn't like this and defends Universe 7. Grand Priest being present Zenoh's Angel sides with him as do the other Angels as they're his children with the exception of Whis and Vados who side with Universe 7 and future Zenoh. The next arc would be a war between two omnipotent beings. One has a majority of the Angels on his side while the other sides with the mortals

I honestly think Grand Priest knew everything & knew that only 1 person would fight harder not only for his universe, but for all the universes. Remember Goku once read minds... There is no way that the Grand Priest can't also read minds. He knows Goku is the only chance. He's DARING him to fight harder. Also because Goku is responsible for making everyone around him stronger, by training with Vegeta, Krillin, Gohan, etc. So U7 is basically only alive due to Earth & how they made Goku "good." Its a moral story about if we as humans do our part.... We can survive anything... Together.
It really puts into perspective. All the effort and training and dying and resurrecting. Saving your planet, galaxy, and even universe time and again....mean absolutely nothing in the grand scheme when a couple of kids with ultimate power can just say no and nullify everything.

Goku and Vegeta at an old age will go to a far planet. Everyone that has known them will be watching and both warriors will go all out and fight. That will be the greatest fight ever.
Imagine the will of a single soul, strong enough not to vanish with the universe. A single soul emanating a single word out into existence, *"NO"* And then taking on Zeno ('s) to bring his/her universe back! No one with such disregard for life should be in power. Fear, fear as you have caused countless others to fear, tremble as you realize that you can not save yourself. And in true Hero fashion, feel relief and gratitude when you are spared and taught a valuable lesson. All life has value, no matter how seemingly distant or insignificant.
It really is masterful visual storytelling. This arc doesn't do enough to bring Goku to task for his actions but that look is one hell of a step on the way

To any of those that watched this, he wasn’t smiling because he was happy the universe got erased. He was smiling because he was happy they finally got to realize how serious the stakes are and that Zeno was not bluffing about Erasing a Universe. He predicted that the universes would ultimately end up giving it their all to protect their universes and would wish to revive them once they saw Zeno’s power.
He had no clue that A17 would bring back the universes over his island. Or that Jiren would lose and not smoke the guy who killed everyone he loved. And Goku wouldn't wish Frieza back. Or Vegeta wouldn't bring back just 1 universe. He was just curious and putting up THAT ANGEL SMILE. I've watched all episodes of DBS +4* in order. My Favorite has to be the last episode where he finally got Jiren to go all out (as Goku would love) and both his similar ally and his (vegeta's) worst enemy had fought with him.

I feel the angel smiled because he knew it’d all be undone. Zeno had a vision that the one who won would be selfless and bring back all the universes. The angels just played clueless. Cause I’ve looked at it from all perspectives, there’s no point of adding that smile in there especially if angels are to be neutral in all matters, him smiling about the universe being erased breaks that angel rule
I originally thought it was a malicious smile. In the into we see one red and one blue Zenoh and sure this could signify present and future Zenoh but it could also signify good and evil. Entertain this for a second. We get a winner from universe 7, doesn't matter who or what they wish for, after the wish is granted present Zenoh goes to wipe out the universe with the exception of the winner and future Zenoh stops him. When questioned about why he admits he's been having fun wiping out Universes and wants to clear this one too because "what's the big deal? We still have others". Future Zenoh doesn't like this and defends Universe 7. Grand Priest being present Zenoh's Angel sides with him as do the other Angels as they're his children with the exception of Whis and Vados who side with Universe 7 and future Zenoh. The next arc would be a war between two omnipotent beings. One has a majority of the Angels on his side while the other sides with the mortals
