This is incredible. I have been coughing for the last 20 years. It has been getting worse as I age. I have been through allergy treatments, nose surgery, steroids', and nothing worked. I am also wearing hearing aids now. In order to keep the aids clean, I Q tip my ears. Whenever I do that I start coughing. If I do it a little to deep I will gag. That has been the case ever since I can remember. I thought it happened to everyone. I ask my wife doesn't a Q tip make you cough. She looked at me with that look. And said no, it doesn't. I looked it up, and found that people that gag with q tips in the ear are 2% of the population. And it is a problem with a nerve. The descriptions fit me to a tee. I had a coughing spell last night went through a whole procedure on nasal rinse, allergy pills, nasal spray and was still coughing as I went to sleep. What a wonderful thing. I have to make an appointment soon.

Since I had neurosurgery to remove a tumor wrapped around and stuck to some of my cranial nerves 4 months ago I have had a chronic cough. The tumor was in my left ear. I noticed whenever I clean my ear I go into a coughing fit. It is so weird. I have been diagnosed with a neurogenic cough related to nerve irritation or damage from my surgery. I started taking gabapentin about a month ago and it is helping, but I still cough particularly when I clean my ear. I am hoping this resolves with the medication and time, but good to know there is another option. Good luck to you!
No, I don't think so. I live in Dallas, TX and I found out about this procedure today when visitting my ENT doctor through UT Southwestern Medical Center. I've had a cough since December 2022. I've seen 3 pulmonologists, 2 GI doctors, and numerous regular doctos and nobody can fix it. ENT doctor wants me try Amitriptlyine first before doing the Superior Laryngeal Nerve Block procedure.
I've been clearing my throat or coughing for at least 20 years, but it's gotten really bad in the last four. Whenever I get even a minor cold, I will start coughing constantly and altho the cold gets better, the coughing continues. I have seen the same kinds of specialists, over and over again, and received the same tests. Nothing works and the coughing wreaks havoc on my body and my life. Almost as bad as having a constant cough is being subject to the patronizing, discounting, and annoyed responses of some doctors. I appreciate just learning that other people have my same problem.

This is me too. My big question is - would I want to get injections 3-4 times a year and is that even feasible ?
I was curious how long after the first injection did he notice a difference. For example, 24 hours or two weeks?
Is there a doctor in the Toronto, Canada who performs this treatment that you can refer me to...?
